Walt hasn't interacted with any women as hot as the principal in the last year iirc

nashwan, Saturday, 25 August 2012 10:41 (thirteen years ago)

Walt was kind of a rudderless mess around the time of the principal pass - he was trying to fuck her, he wasn't thinking calculatedly enough at the time. It was less 'trying to be fired' and more 'not caring whether or not he was fired'.

Matt DC, Saturday, 25 August 2012 11:26 (thirteen years ago)

I don't remember that at all. I feel like this programme has been on forever.

trishyb, Saturday, 25 August 2012 11:30 (thirteen years ago)

i am not sure we care enough / remember enough about holly's existence to care about her dying. but we'll see.

er killing a baby in a piece of fiction tends to get an emotional reaction out of the audience no matter what, especially if it's the child of major characters. you gotta be a cold motherfucker to go "well she didn't have enough screentime for me to care -- she never had ONE memorable line of dialogue!"

some dude, Saturday, 25 August 2012 11:56 (thirteen years ago)

Those baby geniuses from Baby Geniuses had some memorable lines

i realize that cold motherfuckers exist, yes

Looks like Badger's gonna be on AfterMASH that Office spinoff featuring Dwight. Hopefully they'll include all of those episodes as a bonus disc in the Office complete series DVD set when both shows end next year. He deserves to get some sweet derivative checks for a while.

love love love the reveal "I realized I could get the names from lydia"

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:06 (thirteen years ago)

Mike is the only one in this show who knows how the story ends.

in a manner of speaking, yes

todd taking notes on a criminal conspiracy

everything mike said in that speech was exactly what you would expect

walt realized in just that few moments that he could get the names from lydia?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:10 (thirteen years ago)

yeah definitely surprised that walt didn't say anything about todd taking notes... seems like a no brainer...

Mike is pretty dumb to keep blaming Walt for Gus dying, it's called blowback, bro

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:19 (thirteen years ago)

todd taking notes on a criminal conspiracy

right but gayle had a whole notebook too right?

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:26 (thirteen years ago)

i couldn't see how mike was wrong -> if walt had just stuck to his job they all could have made a lot of money.

i suppose todd will turn out to be actually pretty useful to walt in that he will do whatever horrible thing walt tells him to do, right?

and gayle did have a whole notebook! i didn't pay super close attention but i wondered why they let him do that and take it home

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:27 (thirteen years ago)

if walt had just stuck to his job, meaning let those two dudes kill jesse?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)

Once Gus decided to stake everything on those two foot soldiers he sealed his fate. All he had to do was give Walt and Jesse a slap on the wrist and move on.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)

that ep was mad real

mike's ghost should haunt walt hardcore next season. throwing plates and shit

I lost track of all the intrigue specifics on Walt/Jesse/two random dealers. My overall take on this show (been watching all the past seasons just recently) is that I wish they made it without Walt in it.

I'm not certain that Mike won't get out of this, it was a cliffhanger for a reason. why was he watching "the big heat"?

LOL @ you can do what you want with the bacon cookies gift - that's what they said about the poisoned tequila

this.... makes absolutely no sense.

(whose paintings looked like (pink) vaginas) (The Brainwasher), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:00 (thirteen years ago)

It's not complicated, I find every other character a lot more interesting and less annoying than Walt, is just my take on it. maybe the meth heads with the ATM were more annoying than Walt but that's about it?

Mike was watching a particular scene in Big Heat about a police suicide. What was up with that gesture from Hank?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:04 (thirteen years ago)

fuck I lost my surrogate son. we used to have so much fun cookin meth. well I guess those days are gone pour out a little methylamine for Jesse P. who was that other guy Todd something? cool you are my son now too! badass this will be fun sorry that you are dumb and unplagued by conscience

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:06 (thirteen years ago)

Walt's big speech mentioning Gale only in the comment about all the people they've killed, just to mess with Jesse a little extra.
Todd is going to go work for someone else ASAP once he finishes taking those notes?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:18 (thirteen years ago)

The thing that I found most unlikely was Mike being willing to let Walt deliver the bag. Jesse woulda been fine doing it and it made no sense for him to talk with Walt involved in any case.
Otherwise yeah, endgame here

The muted sensation feels amazeballs. (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:34 (thirteen years ago)

maybe he wanted to yell at walt one last time

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 04:38 (thirteen years ago)

also walt firing solely out of anger is basically out of character even at this point in the storyline
don't really give a fuck, just sayin

The muted sensation feels amazeballs. (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:39 (thirteen years ago)

eh, you know walt's been holding a grudge against since waaay back when mike kicked his ass in the bar, and walt's hubris IS outta control

Nhex, Monday, 27 August 2012 04:40 (thirteen years ago)

I didn't see Mike actually fall over until the repeat. ugh.
Who doesn't Walt hold a grudge against? the baby? but I'm not sure

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:43 (thirteen years ago)

you know, just occurred to me that maybe the "I realized I could get the names from lydia" was walt's way of saying "i'll take care of those guys and that just leaves you as a loose end" but that's countermanded by the way he sorta freaks out by having shot mike and gets all sorry bout killing you dude with him
but yeah, that's a wrinkle deeper
still. no way he asks fucking WALT to bring him a bag with a gun. but given how good this is, it feels lame to complain.

The muted sensation feels amazeballs. (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:44 (thirteen years ago)

I felt like at first that was what he's saying "I wasn't going to kill you but I realized I could get the names from lydia, sorry." But then I thought he was saying that he was sorry because if he had just gotten the names from lydia then he wouldn't have even had to show up to give mike the bag and they wouldn't have had their little spat.

I think it's pretty nuanced either way.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 04:57 (thirteen years ago)

Walt is in full Denzel/Training Day mode now, jesus christ he is outta control with his hubris

Todd's gonna lull Walt into a state of familiarity bc Walt has ZERO guile & then Todd will flip the script & cap Walt/rat him out/whatever

Hope Mike survives & pops Walt in the back of the head right through his dumb hat

A Pick Up Artist's Guide to Negative Approach (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Monday, 27 August 2012 08:43 (thirteen years ago)

i was thinking that i'd never hated walt more than when he was doing his stern-but-caring dad act with jesse, but then

tubular, mondo, gnabry (Merdeyeux), Monday, 27 August 2012 08:51 (thirteen years ago)

actually the stern-but-caring dad thing is still worse, who among us has not murdered someone after getting a bit angry.

tubular, mondo, gnabry (Merdeyeux), Monday, 27 August 2012 09:09 (thirteen years ago)

Walt shooting in anger isn't really out of character - no-one's really called him on his bullshit the way Mike did, and I imagine that was pretty devastating to him.

"You. And your pride and your ego. You just had to be the man. If you'd done your job, known your place, we'd all be fine right now."

Such a good scene. But even if there wasn't a gun in the bag, Walt could just as easily have brought his own, presumably. And I guess Mike didn't want Jesse to deliver it out of some degree of affection, knowing it might be dangerous.

the so-called socialista (dowd), Monday, 27 August 2012 10:24 (thirteen years ago)

i liked saul's drawerful of phones. i miss the days when people were snapping phones every five minutes. i also liked walt's attempt at work small talk over dinner. that'll be his downfall when he invites hank and marie over. "so i was down the meth lab today and OH BALLS."

tubular, mondo, gnabry (Merdeyeux), Monday, 27 August 2012 10:34 (thirteen years ago)

Was there a hidden camera in Hank's office filming Walt's switcheroo, or was that just a trick?

Enjoyed this episode a lot. All of the betrayal's backfiring on Walt. It was a relief to see Mike's indignation finally surface, after too many episodes of the writers indulging his blase, wisened hitman-with-a-heart persona as an unconvincing foil for Walt's self-aggrandizement. I don't like it when writers become too aware of their characters, and it got a little predictable and schticky at times recently, imo. Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks both outplaying Cranston in this ep, lines were perfect, but I liked how Cranston brought a touch of the old insecure, reactionary Walt back into the character. Again, a few inexplicable plot points, esp. related to Mike's MO, but on the whole beautifully paced, and the editing stood out. Felt a little bit more like the Coens' last few films in that respect. Skylar scenes seemed unnecessary at first, as if anyone needed a reminder, but Jesse's righteous anger needed another trigger, and who better than the humanising figure to set him off with nary a word. Waiting on Marie to throw a spanner in the works with an ill-advised attempt at restoring normality.
