Shall we anticipate the FIFTH SEASON of the AMC series "Breaking Bad"? I think I may.

Here's a listicle with a lot of good observations and a few predictions:

The Holly-always-in-pink thing is interesting.

America's Mobile, Friday, 24 August 2012 20:23 (thirteen years ago)

Walt was always cutting off his own crusts - watching Crazy 8 tear off his own momentarily humanized him in Walt's eyes. IIRC.

aerosmith suck because their corporate rock that sucks (Myonga Vön Bontee), Friday, 24 August 2012 20:49 (thirteen years ago)

I have now come across the Holly-is-going-to-die theory in several places, not least that crazy prominent spitball in the New Yorker:

The audience now waits along with Skyler, as the narrative builds toward a finale in which anything might happen, since there will be no need to keep us watching. (A baby might die, for instance, maybe by swallowing the ricin pellet that’s tucked away in the Whites’ home.)

Does that link there note that several viewers insist Walt was wearing a wire in the season premiere?

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 24 August 2012 22:23 (thirteen years ago)

i am not sure we care enough / remember enough about holly's existence to care about her dying. but we'll see.

and, that ricin pellet is comprehensively tucked away! in a sealed pack screwed behind an electrical socket!

good listicle, nonetheless

Because we all know early crawlers never have a thing for electrical sockets ...

Don't get these crazy people started.

pplains, Saturday, 25 August 2012 00:20 (thirteen years ago)

remember when walt made a move on the school principal? he isn't exactly smooth with the ladies.

He was trying to get fired. Do you really think he was trying to fuck her out of the blue and just hasn't bothered to try it with any woman since?

Matt Armstrong, Saturday, 25 August 2012 00:36 (thirteen years ago)

if he was trying to get fired I guess that was a win/win play then

vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Saturday, 25 August 2012 01:59 (thirteen years ago)

i don't remember how that transpired - why was Walt trying to get fired?

Nhex, Saturday, 25 August 2012 04:47 (thirteen years ago)

it happened in the past year, how can you not remember?

(srs this is why i hate him just turning 51 for four years of storylines. i also can't remember obv.)

He was trying to get fired.

Plausible but debatable.

Walt hasn't interacted with any women as hot as the principal in the last year iirc

nashwan, Saturday, 25 August 2012 10:41 (thirteen years ago)

Walt was kind of a rudderless mess around the time of the principal pass - he was trying to fuck her, he wasn't thinking calculatedly enough at the time. It was less 'trying to be fired' and more 'not caring whether or not he was fired'.

Matt DC, Saturday, 25 August 2012 11:26 (thirteen years ago)

I don't remember that at all. I feel like this programme has been on forever.

er killing a baby in a piece of fiction tends to get an emotional reaction out of the audience no matter what, especially if it's the child of major characters. you gotta be a cold motherfucker to go "well she didn't have enough screentime for me to care -- she never had ONE memorable line of dialogue!"

some dude, Saturday, 25 August 2012 11:56 (thirteen years ago)

Those baby geniuses from Baby Geniuses had some memorable lines

Looks like Badger's gonna be on AfterMASH that Office spinoff featuring Dwight. Hopefully they'll include all of those episodes as a bonus disc in the Office complete series DVD set when both shows end next year. He deserves to get some sweet derivative checks for a while.

love love love the reveal "I realized I could get the names from lydia"

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:06 (thirteen years ago)

Mike is the only one in this show who knows how the story ends.

in a manner of speaking, yes

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:08 (thirteen years ago)

todd taking notes on a criminal conspiracy

everything mike said in that speech was exactly what you would expect

walt realized in just that few moments that he could get the names from lydia?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:10 (thirteen years ago)

yeah definitely surprised that walt didn't say anything about todd taking notes... seems like a no brainer...

presumably realized it while walking back to his car

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:12 (thirteen years ago)

Mike is pretty dumb to keep blaming Walt for Gus dying, it's called blowback, bro

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:19 (thirteen years ago)

todd taking notes on a criminal conspiracy

right but gayle had a whole notebook too right?

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:26 (thirteen years ago)

i couldn't see how mike was wrong -> if walt had just stuck to his job they all could have made a lot of money.

i suppose todd will turn out to be actually pretty useful to walt in that he will do whatever horrible thing walt tells him to do, right?

and gayle did have a whole notebook! i didn't pay super close attention but i wondered why they let him do that and take it home

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:27 (thirteen years ago)

if walt had just stuck to his job, meaning let those two dudes kill jesse?

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)

Once Gus decided to stake everything on those two foot soldiers he sealed his fate. All he had to do was give Walt and Jesse a slap on the wrist and move on.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:28 (thirteen years ago)

that ep was mad real

lag∞n, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:29 (thirteen years ago)

just let me die in peace

lag∞n, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:29 (thirteen years ago)

feel bad for mike, walt is such a weenus

lag∞n, Monday, 27 August 2012 03:30 (thirteen years ago)

mike's ghost should haunt walt hardcore next season. throwing plates and shit

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:55 (thirteen years ago)

I lost track of all the intrigue specifics on Walt/Jesse/two random dealers. My overall take on this show (been watching all the past seasons just recently) is that I wish they made it without Walt in it.

I'm not certain that Mike won't get out of this, it was a cliffhanger for a reason. why was he watching "the big heat"?

LOL @ you can do what you want with the bacon cookies gift - that's what they said about the poisoned tequila

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 03:57 (thirteen years ago)

My overall take on this show (been watching all the past seasons just recently) is that I wish they made it without Walt in it.

this.... makes absolutely no sense.

(whose paintings looked like (pink) vaginas) (The Brainwasher), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:00 (thirteen years ago)

It's not complicated, I find every other character a lot more interesting and less annoying than Walt, is just my take on it. maybe the meth heads with the ATM were more annoying than Walt but that's about it?

Mike was watching a particular scene in Big Heat about a police suicide. What was up with that gesture from Hank?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:04 (thirteen years ago)

fuck I lost my surrogate son. we used to have so much fun cookin meth. well I guess those days are gone pour out a little methylamine for Jesse P. who was that other guy Todd something? cool you are my son now too! badass this will be fun sorry that you are dumb and unplagued by conscience

steven fucking tyler (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:06 (thirteen years ago)

Walt's big speech mentioning Gale only in the comment about all the people they've killed, just to mess with Jesse a little extra.
Todd is going to go work for someone else ASAP once he finishes taking those notes?

seriously, THIS GUY (daria-g), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:18 (thirteen years ago)

The thing that I found most unlikely was Mike being willing to let Walt deliver the bag. Jesse woulda been fine doing it and it made no sense for him to talk with Walt involved in any case.
Otherwise yeah, endgame here

The muted sensation feels amazeballs. (forksclovetofu), Monday, 27 August 2012 04:34 (thirteen years ago)

maybe he wanted to yell at walt one last time

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 27 August 2012 04:38 (thirteen years ago)

also walt firing solely out of anger is basically out of character even at this point in the storyline
don't really give a fuck, just sayin
