why are they called macros btw

i thought maybe you could go to the home page of these viral macros and block them individually - it would be time-consuming but good for the fb friends who post tons of shit from a few of the same places - but there is no block option on them!

image macros are a ref to the fact it's a recorded or semi-automated process, going back to key macros in software

yeah imo these facebook meme images (and i guess lolcats and stuff) are a little bit removed from the original meaning of "image macro"—macro originally meaning a stock response, like the reaction images you see on SA or 4chan. obv the definition has expanded though

see now i would think that fly by their seat of their pants would be a good thing to self-actualizing journal-keepers. but i guess not. you know, spontaneity and all that. though the successful person list is kinda anti-improvisation.

and on the successful list i totally read "exclude joy" at first.

and that list was something a facebook friend of mine put up. i have some scolds on my facebook. same person who posted the thing about how *kids shouldn't ask for anything and they should stop war* manifesto.

There's a whole tumblr of those if it's a legitimate x. Some of them are funny, some of them are horribly formed.

enforced excitement/joy/seize the day/stop complaining stuff on facebook or the internet always bugs me. because it really does feel like the person posting it is trying to convince themselves that they aren't miserable.

man, "life coaches." I have a friend who I think seems really self-actualized but was going to career counselor-types (not life coaches) a couple years ago because she wasn't quite feeling it with her job. Now, she has the same job, but she and her husband have three dogs and she runs something like ten miles a day.

If it's a legitimate LOL, the EXCELSIOR has ways to try to shut that whole thing down
