i don't want anyone to be disappointed, and a surprising number of guys misrepresent

This is interesting! In thirteen years of internet hookups I've never gotten a grotesque misrepresentation. "Grotesque" because just about every time the guy has said "lol my hair's shorter" or "I've got an earring now."

Really, ew?? I find this to be very standard with most people I talk to on these forums. At least like a few different face/undies pics. the other stuff is conversation specific.

surm, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:13 (thirteen years ago)

Ew @ Internet hooking up.

Eric H., Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:14 (thirteen years ago)

I thought you were "ew @ hooking up"

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:15 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, but not as much.

Eric H., Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:16 (thirteen years ago)

It's about time somebody created a Rolling Asexuality thread.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:17 (thirteen years ago)

Like, for one if those two, I would be grossly underrepresenting if I didn't say I'm perfect for people who want to be puked on.

Eric H., Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:17 (thirteen years ago)

xpost I think there is one! Convo is predictably academic.

Eric H., Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:18 (thirteen years ago)

haha surm, that's a hell-no to misrepresenting yourself. i mean, i can understand wanting to put your best face forward to help close the sale, nobody likes to be rejected on the basis of looks, but if you're negotiating a hookup then who do you think you're fooling?

real men have been preparing manly dishes for centuries (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:19 (thirteen years ago)

ohh ok awesome. lol.

i mean don't get me wrong, i love meeting up for coffee first too, or drinks or whatever. there's a time and a place.

surm, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:19 (thirteen years ago)

in this day & age there is no excuse for old pics

real men have been preparing manly dishes for centuries (elmo argonaut), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:22 (thirteen years ago)

LOL, all the asexuality threads actually die about as fast as ... well, you know:

Asexuality
Asexuality - C/D?!

Well, except this one which is mostly mockery:

asexual pride movement

Eric H., Wednesday, 15 August 2012 21:29 (thirteen years ago)

i hope some of you new york gays are going to this (it's less steep than most other academic conferences i've been to):

Met up with Alex in Montreal a couple nights ago, it was lots of fun. I came from a mojito party and then was bought cocktails by a generous friend. We got ~wasted~, well, I was wasted at any rate, like that twice a year kind of wasted where you wander round the house the next day feeling confused by the placement of objects. We semi-successfully brainstormed possible gay rap nights to compete with Toronto's "Big Primpin'" (Me: Only built for Cuban Pinx; them: Late Penetration). Alex in MTL is highly recommended for irl hangs.

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 15:14 (thirteen years ago)

Agreed. Met Alex all too briefly a couple months back.

Seems like hosting a weekly trivia at a local gay bar is going to be good (i.e. not good) for my ego.

Eric H., Friday, 17 August 2012 15:34 (thirteen years ago)

Yah I remember you jer but we just said hello, right? I was introduced to ILM by _______ who doesn't post here any more. "Oh, you still visit that hive of assholes" he says dismissively.

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 15:34 (thirteen years ago)

LOL, OTM

Eric H., Friday, 17 August 2012 15:35 (thirteen years ago)

Owen, yeah. Also, you gave me a hug upon my friend's request.

'hive of assholes' = accurate board description.

also, Owen P is a lot of fun to hang out with!

i am in London ON. It is um. not particularly exciting as a place.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Friday, 17 August 2012 15:45 (thirteen years ago)

What's that John Waters line "the most irritating kind of person in the world is an ex-smoker"? Except with ILX. (He's not at all irritating, just cognisant that ILX brought out a bad side of him.)

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 15:54 (thirteen years ago)

He's not at all irritating, just cognisant that ILX brought out a bad side of him.

Among so many quiet qualities.

Eric H., Friday, 17 August 2012 15:56 (thirteen years ago)

who? C?

surm, Friday, 17 August 2012 15:56 (thirteen years ago)

Believe it or not, growing up in Tillsonburg ONT (as I did) London was The Big City. But yeah...

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

I had drinks and some foolin' with a lovely fellow I met a couple days ago. Way too promising. Luckily containing my enthusiasm has never been one of my flaws.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:27 (thirteen years ago)

xp not a snitch

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 16:29 (thirteen years ago)

I went to London a couple times to visit my younger brother, it was mostly patio parties and gurls

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 16:30 (thirteen years ago)

Are we talking about Casuistry?

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

enough gossing, folks.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:32 (thirteen years ago)

If so, I met him and we hung out for a couple days, then later I pretty much hated him for a couple years, but now I really like him and I hope we meet again. (I told him about my feelings toward him. Don't want to sound like I'm talking behind his back.)

xp

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

yah i shouldn't have mentioned anything.

does anybody else post from an elliptical, it really fucks with your logic

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 16:37 (thirteen years ago)

Anyway, if we're changing the topic: I had a dream about Dr. Morbius. A friend and I were on a balcony facing the woods at a suburban/rural apartment complex at night. The feeling of the dream was unsettling but not scary. I saw Dr. M walking fast, carrying a flashlight, looking over his shoulder with his brow furrowed. He grumbled about whatever was behind him and then he was out of sight. A guy ran by on Morb's same path, apparently chasing him. The friend in the dream asked me if the guy doing the chasing was a "rent boy" and I said no.

xp - sorry Owen. I hope I didn't say the wrong thing.

I've posted from a treadmill once, which I don't recommend. Too bumpy.

(*・_・)ノ⌒ ☆ (Je55e), Friday, 17 August 2012 16:49 (thirteen years ago)

i have posted about my feelings for C before, because he went out of his way to offend me (and i gather, others). but whatever, it's all in the past.

surm, Friday, 17 August 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)

I am in my new place, at which I finally have internet. There are kids screaming in the playground across the alley but it strangely isn't disturbing me.

clouds, Friday, 17 August 2012 17:06 (thirteen years ago)

did you move in with yr guy?

half-worm inchworm tapeworm (donna rouge), Friday, 17 August 2012 17:07 (thirteen years ago)

yup, we've been here just over two weeks. things are still settling down, but it definitely feels like home.

clouds, Friday, 17 August 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)

I don't remember C ever being mean to me, but he was one of the few guys on these threads who could match me in prudery (tho I guess he's attached now?)

Eric H., Friday, 17 August 2012 17:12 (thirteen years ago)

ha no worries at all je55e!

I don't have dreams. Then, a week ago, I dreamed about this puppy-love romantic love story between two teenagers at a school for underprivileged kids. The romance ended with the boy shouting at the girl that she "doesn't know him, never understood him" and he runs off to a graveyard to sleep in a grave and have sex with ancient ghosts.

The dream was long and detailed and beautiful and I woke up, while still asleep. I was so impressed that I'd had such a vivid dream that I turned to the people around me and tried to recount to them all the details of the dream. While doing so, certain scenes changed and shifted, the retelling was less true but it was better told.

Then, when I woke up for real, I didn't know whether to write down what I could remember of Dream 1 (love story) or Dream 2 (frantically retelling the love story) because the two had several contradictory elements.

Ówen P., Friday, 17 August 2012 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

oy, the "waking up while still asleep" thing
