judging an actor on what they look like? craziness!

what?
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 13:59 (thirteen years ago)
Landry always looks like that. Because he's a stone cold killah
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:13 (thirteen years ago)
Hint: Character actors are often hired not because of any particular ability they have but that they just manage to look like the character indented. That they can act is obv. a bonus.
― Royal Governor His Eminence and Imperial (Viceroy), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:16 (thirteen years ago)
i'm not saying he wasn't cast to seem guileless, but it's a stretch to say he was acting "goofy" or "dumb." POSSIBLY "gee-whiz".
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:17 (thirteen years ago)
it's not like his character was doing cartwheels and spilling ice cream all over his shirt and picking his nose or something
"toddddddddd!"
he's not exactly a looker but "indented" is harsh
― Number None, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:17 (thirteen years ago)
LOL wow. indented = intended.
― Royal Governor His Eminence and Imperial (Viceroy), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:18 (thirteen years ago)
His name is Todd, he's played by the Landry guy. I think we were obviously supposed to underestimate him.
― Royal Governor His Eminence and Imperial (Viceroy), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:19 (thirteen years ago)
Todd totally indented that kid.
― Romney's Kitchen Nightmares (WmC), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 14:20 (thirteen years ago)
but the first thing the character was distinguish himself from the rest of the goons. So really we're meant to think this guy looks unassuming but there's obviously more to him

This is almost off-topic, but I am wondering just what the hell Mike meant when he said to Lydia, "It's not a gun, it's a pistol. I intend accuracy." First of all, a pistol is a gun, it's just not a revolver. Second of all, AFAIK revolvers are not known for being less accurate than pistols. And thirdly, he was going to shoot her point-blank. So what the hell was he talking about?

i was wondering the same

He wanted Lydia to get the script 100% right and not deviate when she was on the phone to Hank.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 15:09 (thirteen years ago)
OH! Ok, I get it. It was a double entendre. As in, "I intend for you to be as precise in reading this script as I am in being picky about what this kind of gun is called."
― cue "White Rabbit" (kenan), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 15:15 (thirteen years ago)
He was also asking Lydia to repeat back what he'd told her at the time.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 15:15 (thirteen years ago)
what did the spider mean
― conrad, Wednesday, 15 August 2012 18:02 (thirteen years ago)
why was walt looking at the photo of hank and marie
he was looking at the photo of h & m to cover that he'd just put a bug in the back of the photo frame
― set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 15 August 2012 18:05 (thirteen years ago)
spider means business
Tarantulas are not venomous, per se, but they do have irritating fuzz they can shoot at you, and their fangs can still inflict a nasty wound, if the animal is angry enough. But treated gently they crawl right into jars and enjoy riding on mopeds in the desert. Which means ... I don't know, someone else can chip a metaphor out of that block.

surprising lack of characters with hair on this show. I'm not seeing any direct tarantula analogue

it is a very hairless show. maybe in that flash-forward in the first episode walt had killed the spider and glued its hair to his head and face?

Watching this episode again, I timed the end of it. The kid, the wave, the reaction shots, the killing: 45 seconds. Talk about precision. They changed the whole season in 45 seconds.
― cue "White Rabbit" (kenan), Thursday, 16 August 2012 06:49 (thirteen years ago)
Jesse and Walt pull off a caper but it ends up making things worse for them? Yeah holy shit neevr seen that before.
― ʘ (sic), Thursday, 16 August 2012 07:15 (thirteen years ago)
It's kind of the overall theme of the show, and stuff.
― cue "White Rabbit" (kenan), Thursday, 16 August 2012 07:49 (thirteen years ago)
nah man they changed the whole season
― ʘ (sic), Thursday, 16 August 2012 13:56 (thirteen years ago)
lol sic i know right
― some dude, Thursday, 16 August 2012 14:02 (thirteen years ago)
I feel like most of their capers have been huge successes with not much blowback?
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 16 August 2012 17:04 (thirteen years ago)
Well, their other big caper this season ultimately (and pretty much only) resulted in Mike taking a much larger percentage of their haul, which is a pretty serious source of friction. The train heist will probably wind up roughly the same way (a success that ultimately isn't worth the cost of said success).
― Old Lunch, Thursday, 16 August 2012 18:43 (thirteen years ago)
My assumption is that it will not prove difficult for them to dispose of a dead body and a motorcycle.

no, their other caper forced Mike to stay in the business.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 16 August 2012 18:59 (thirteen years ago)
I mean yeah they could be off on their own without having to pay the prison dudes a cut, but without Mike they'd be using Badger to be their main dealer or something.
