I always wonder if Hank knows more than he's letting on about what Walt has been up to for the past year.

I also thought, no way a moving freight train can see a guy waving at them on the tracks and stop in time to avoid hitting whatever they're waving about.

They might be able to see the truck though.

But it seemed like they were coming around a turn that was blocked by some trees, so it would've been even harder.

if hank knew something about walt, walt would have been busted already. Gus is gone and people are getting killed, there'd be no reason to wait it out.

I'm starting to think Hank is never going to find out about Walt's secret life via investigative means. He'll get close, but it just seems too pat from a dramatic standpoint. After all of his hard work, he'll probably discover Heisenberg's identity from Marie or something.

I'm interested to see how the house of cards comes down, but I can't say I have a rooting interest in anybody on this show. The kids, I guess. Maybe Hank, though he makes my teeth grind.

Not much to do with this episode specifically but it's weird how divorced these three guys are from the actual operation of distribution. They make all this meth and it magically gets sold. They don't even think about the misery that it causes, or seem to have to deal with the street-level operations at all. How does Mike do that stuff? Who is distributing? How are they distributing?

yeah. amazingly it seems like walt even comes around to, if not exactly agree, not disagree either. that or when she said "i'll be whatever kind of partner you want" all his power pleasure ganglia started firing at once and he couldn't resist going along with it, for the moment at least

We don't know if the kid is dead, which in many ways sets up an even larger quandary. Regardless, no doubt Jesse will snap (again) and join Skyler in the coalition of the shellshocked, In fact, I wonder if Skyler and Jesse will ever cross paths again.

the teaser for next week made it pretty clear the kid is dead

Guys, the spider is obviously a reincarnated Gus. We won't see him again until the last episode, when Walt will die and be reincarnated as a fly.

Freight trains don't always go very fast, especially when it gets curvy (as it did before the crossing). As someone who lived about 30 feet from freight train tracks for about 10 years, I found the scenario plausible.

Wow, this was one of the best episodes of the series, right after the all time worst. Or second worst. I can't remember if it was worse when they did it the first time with the fly or the second time with Skyler. She's definitely more annoying than the annoying fly but neither are as annoying as all of the handwringing ITT re: morality or realism.

oh c'mon there's no way last week was anywhere near as bad as some of the more awkward s1 / early s2 eps.

The pacing of this series is perfect so far. You can't beat a good elaborate train heist episode and it was so much fun after the (necessary) tension overload of last week. Jesse under the train was awesome.

Once again killing or involving children is the moral line. Jesse's going to fucking freak out now. Especially given the kid probably had zero comprehension of what was actually going on and there was no need to do anything.

But yeah, the police are probably more bothered about dead or missing children than they are about random drug dealers being taken down so this will be a level of heat they haven't previously experienced.

yeah, exactly. i wonder if even walt can sweep this kinda brutally logical execution under the carpet - i mean i'm not saying he'll pack it all in but it does set up psychological repercussions down the line even besides jessie's reaction around him
