I keep posting the LOLiberal ones because, first of all, those are the bulk of what get posted into my Facebook feed by my friends (I avoid friending family on Facebook), but also because when it's crazy right wing stuff, I can write it off as being crazy, but I really, really hate it when it's something I agree with but the stupidity of the image makes me wish I didn't.

One of the worst offenders of this crap on my FB is of all people, a published novelist, a really good smart creative guy. Just got a gig writing for a major games company. I'm like, doesn't anyone have opinions of their own anymore? Is it just easier to repost this crap?
(or RT on twitter which is just as annoying).

Trusting research over their guts, scientists in New Zealand and Canada examined the phenomenon Stephen Colbert, comedian and news satirist, calls "truthiness" -- the feeling that something is true. In four different experiments they discovered that people believe claims are true, regardless of whether they actually are true, when a decorative photograph appears alongside the claim. The work is published online in the Springer journal, Psychonomic Bulletin & Review.

i made this one this morning. it is multi-layered, about our time, a previous time, political movements, intellectual pursuits, saying things on the internet, mondays, fucking pictures with words on them.

i do feel like some (most) of the people posting these things probably only really have trouble finding parking spaces or a good mocha latte and never actually have to climb insurmountable mountains of adversity. but what do i know, maybe they do. but if they do why are they on facebook so much? they should be outside climbing mountains of turmoil or something.
