la rondalla looking closer to open than it has in years, which is kinda inspiring given what-all has actually been opening on Valencia lately... but as you say, we'll see.

please let it not return as an overpriced one word name place - too many of those on that strip imo.
― sarahell, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:50 (thirteen years ago)
yeah hate that shit. I like how nothing can last at that former-KFC spot across from Aquarius (RIP Spork, I was never going to eat your food lol). that space is cursed.
― giallo pudding pops (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:51 (thirteen years ago)
lol @ Spork. still lolling at the demise of Spork.

was disappointed to discover their menu was not exclusively tater tots and pudding cups tbh
― giallo pudding pops (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)
missed opportunity imo

I'm pleasantly surprised @ the number of parklets that appeared in this town over the 3 years. there really are quite a few.

For those who go to Castro Theatre on the regular ... if Ticketweb is sold out for an event, does that mean there are no tickets left period?

oof that seems like kind of a unique situation, yeah I wouldn't bet on their being tix set aside at the box office for that
― Shameful Dead Half Choogle (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 20:33 (thirteen years ago)
but I don't know really
― Shameful Dead Half Choogle (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 20:34 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah the uniqueness of the screening makes me doubtful.
― pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Tuesday, 21 August 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)
Get to the box office at 6pm, but there will be a line. I will be at the Lucky 13 eating popcorn. B-D

"can anyone recommend a sushi restaurant in SF that is a) really good, b) open for lunch on a Saturday, and c) not insanely pricey"
I can't even recommend one that meets a) and c) sadly.

whoah windshield wiper assault thing is pretty close to me. weird.
in other news, Rhea's Deli is moving in across from my house! YES
― chicago rap twitter luminary (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 28 August 2012 22:58 (thirteen years ago)
Thinking of probably applying to a (very different) job with my former employer in SF.
Obviously, the odds are long but would I move back to the Bay? How is it now? Where would I live?
Honestly this prob. won't happen, but yet...

The rents are as bad as ever.
― pun lovin criminal (polyphonic), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 22:26 (thirteen years ago)
yeah that is a thing for sure.
I live in a great house down here, I couldn't imagine being able to afford something similar there.

I miss BART, is that weird
― /\ /\ Delete post (admrl), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)
Actually I think I just like public transit, but I liked BART's retro-futuristic Epcot aesthetic
Also I am sick of SoCal heat right now. It's going to 97 this week! But I do like it here
― /\ /\ Delete post (admrl), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 22:28 (thirteen years ago)
woah I just actually looked at rents. Geez, guys!

just like last time
I looked at East Bay. Narrowed it to our rent here and was presented with an array of depressing apartments in the middle of nowhere. Haha you should all move!
― /\ /\ Delete post (admrl), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 22:38 (thirteen years ago)
I've probably said this b4 but our rent on a one-bed apt in SF (nice and spacious one tbf) was about double our monthly mortgage payments on 2-bed fancy flat in nice area of southern British city
― kinder, Wednesday, 12 September 2012 22:40 (thirteen years ago)
city's been prohibitively expensive the entire time I've lived here is this news to you guys or something
― stop swearing and start windmilling (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 22:45 (thirteen years ago)
the trick is to commit and then not move
I can't say rents in the Bay Area have been much on my mind, no
xp

well.
ok then.
we might just visit
― /\ /\ Delete post (admrl), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 23:15 (thirteen years ago)
Seriously though we'll ask around for you. Most good apartments (in SF anyway) get found by word of mouth.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 12 September 2012 23:19 (thirteen years ago)
OK! I am going to throw my hat in this ring and see what happens.

― sarahell, Monday, 29 October 2012 08:26 (thirteen years ago)
I watched the bonfire right outside the beauty bar for about 30 minutes and was surprised at the lack of police or fire dept involvement. That said, it was a surprisingly tame and civilized celebration compared to the crazies in the 200-person crowd out front of civic center who kept swarming any car that tried to drive by and jumping on them like a 5 year old on a bed.
