She'd have to be very sure that she'd be able to do that without turning herself in and leaving Walter Jr heartbroken and baby Holly without a mother though. Wouldn't bet against her taking both kids and as much money as possible and running though.

I don't think prison time is her biggest concern.

I buy Skyler's wigging out because she's wigging out about Walt being a murdering, creepy, "I forgive you," let me paw at you in bed while you're clearly not interested in even talking to me, terrifying person to be married to. Oh who just moves back in. Basically Skyler is terrified of Walt and powerless to escape him.

― Hungry4Ass, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 14:28 (thirteen years ago)
Incidentally has Brock seen or encountered Walt before? The kid looked pretty fucking suspicious and nervous when Walt was alone with him, but we were never shown the actual poisoning scene so I dunno.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 14:37 (thirteen years ago)
I thought in the premiere it was laid out that Saul had it carried out via proxy (which is a HUGE loose end that's probably gonna come out badly). Brock has probably seen Walt one of the various times he's been at Jesse's house, since they were basically living there since about halfway through S4?
― Nhex, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago)
what saul did was get the ricin cigarette from jesse, don't think he had anything to do with brock
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 14:59 (thirteen years ago)
Seemed like Walt and Andrea were being introduced for the first time.
― I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:00 (thirteen years ago)
I thought the only time they got exposed to walt was when he showed up on their doorstep last season when jesse was freezing walt out and was shutting the door in his face
― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:03 (thirteen years ago)
oh yeah, you guys are right

― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:14 (thirteen years ago)
not really
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:16 (thirteen years ago)
It's not her biggest concern, relative to being terrifed of the sociopath and murderer she's married to, but it's hardly a trifling concern either.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:18 (thirteen years ago)
Also Marie is clearly about to go back and tell Hank that Skylar is having a mental breakdown. If Skylar were to go to him and say "Walt is running a massive meth operation" he just flat out wouldn't believe her and would piss himself laughing. For an episode or two at least.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:22 (thirteen years ago)
As lag∞n pointed out though, esp. if she was the one turning Walt in, it's hard to imagine her going to jail. I think her biggest concerns are psychological and financial (if she turns Walt in all their assets are likely to be seized.)
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:22 (thirteen years ago)
She doesn't necessarily know she wouldn't go to jail. So yeah it's psychological.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:25 (thirteen years ago)
Also y'know she's scared shitless of him.
And by psychological I mean that she's having difficulty wrapping her head around the idea that her husband and the father of her children is the murderous head of criminal enterprise which she is now completely dependent upon financially.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:26 (thirteen years ago)
I'm not so sure she's scared of him as much as she is repelled by him (and by extension herself).
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:27 (thirteen years ago)
I think Skyler is sharp enough to figure out how not to go to jail over this.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:28 (thirteen years ago)
also if she turned walt in she would be humiliated and her life/marriage exposed as being completely debased
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:31 (thirteen years ago)
but she looks like she may be nearing the point where itd be worth it
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:32 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah definitely looks like that, don't it.
Really curious how exactly Walt poisoned Brock now.
― Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:34 (thirteen years ago)
The only person who can really help her out is Saul, and he looks like he's reaching that point himself.
Also lol @ Mike and Hywel yesterday.
― Matt DC, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:36 (thirteen years ago)
ha yes
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 15:45 (thirteen years ago)
what if she wants to turn state's evs and walt finds out and decides he has to kill her, how fucked would that be
― joaquin haus-partizan (s1ocki), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)
This remains the show's most aggravatingly-unanswered plot point in recent memory. It kinda prevented the end of last season (awesome as it was) from hanging together for me, if only because it seemed a little logistically sketchy in a show where the details are usually meticulously laid out. Hopefully, it'll eventually be addressed.
― Old Lunch, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 17:00 (thirteen years ago)
I watched S2E1 last night. It was fun to watch Walt make ricin, knowing what we know now.

― vincent black shadow giallo (Edward III), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:10 (thirteen years ago)
I'm ok with never finding out how he poisoned Brock. We don't need a flashback for everything.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:12 (thirteen years ago)
my wrong thinking: in a stroke of irony, it turns out that brock was accidentally poisoned, but because the source was something in walt's garden, jesse will eventually put two and two together and accuse walt of doing it intentionally, and it will mirror the demise of junkie jane.
― sarahell, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:13 (thirteen years ago)
I have a feeling it could be a really interesting story tho!

weren't his movements severely constrained at several points? he might not have had a choice?
― sarahell, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 18:31 (thirteen years ago)
iirc walt had all day to run around while jesse was doing the cook, he kicked in saul's glas door and bribed the secretary with $$ he had to get from his house where gus' hitmen were hanging out
after jesse got off work he had 5 increasingly frantic messages from saul to come see him (so saul could get the ricin cigarette ASAP)

― I dont even know that I think this sucks per se (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 31 July 2012 20:05 (thirteen years ago)
I dunno, unless someone can scrape together a satisfying two-beat explanation of how Walt managed to poison a stranger's kid on the sly (what, did he steal an ice cream truck and cram the juniper berries in Brock's Choco Taco?), it's a pretty glaring plot point and it bothers me. I'd probably let it slide on a lesser show but the lack of explanation feels uncharacteristically sloppy here. I'm not asking for an episode devoted to it, but a brief flashback to the act would be nice.
― Old Lunch, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 20:06 (thirteen years ago)
it doesnt bother me really. the berries on the plant are supposed to be enticing for kids to eat, brock's kinda chunky, they probably just put a potted plant where he could see it and he started snackin.
― Hungry4Ass, Tuesday, 31 July 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)
I think it's only sloppy if they never explain it.
