Mom gets so stressed out about MEALS when I'm around. I must criticize too much.

I can't wait to chug some bazookas at Romas! Annnnd... man, what else will be going on? We gonna catch the new HP? Is that gay cowboy movie gonna be out?

food in boxes is ok with me.

But before I fly east, I will see the HOLY MODAL ROUNDERS movie at the Starz theatre as part of the Denver Film Festival, and afterwards Peter Stampfel will perform. I saw Weber & Stampfel play a couple of times in the early '80s, once at Folk City and once at the Mudd Club (these were in some city to the east of Denver by a good bit). I gave Stampfel a copy of my band's demo tape.

This was at least the second opportunity on this thread for a feckless Brit to pipe up with Things To Do In Denver With Your Dad hyuk-hyuk and I can't let it pass now.

AND, I wish you would come to Denver.

A.) Of all the things I've heard negative about Denver, it's always been "bland", "too far away from everything", "expensive", etc. I hadn't heard complaints about the transient population, though.

B.) I still don't get complaints about homeless people. You may get an occassional aggressive dude, just like you may get the occassional someone at the table next to yours incessantly jabbering into his cellphone. Besides that, they're just people who have a lot more problems than you do.

C.) Even if I were to bitch about homeless people, how could I possibly start with Denver? Those hobo's riding unicycles down the avenues of Berkeley, now THERE are some people I can roll my eyes at.

anyway denver is A DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH, and once the denver real world starts FORGET IT, population boom!

things i did in denver: went for a run in wash park (wow you guys sure love volleyball and dogs), went to heritage square amusement park with the family and went down the alpine slide, ate some ice cream at bonnie brae (tasty), went to some lame bars in that area (lame).

did you see anyone in madras shorts?

How expensive is it to rent here compared to, say, Portland? Or Seattle?

I rented a two-bedroom 1200 sq foot apt in the Baker neighborhood for $850.

What part of town are you in?

What are the pluses and minuses of living in Denver? We really liked the city and almost vaguely thought we would want to live there, but it might have been like that Cleveland episode of 30 Rock.

Where do you live now?

Pluses:
- Small enough to get around easily
- Feels like a community
- Clean, organized, nice to look out
- Mountains nearby
- Okay music scene
- Pretty good restaurants
- Mountains nearby
- Not too expensive

Cons:
- Pretty much the only big city around in like five hundred miles--I don't care about this, but some people do
