well thankfully body hair doesn't grow back as fast as facial hair so it's less of a commitment

dust the hairy surface with baby powder to help the clippers glide over skin, prevents irritation & reduced scrapes & snags #protip #lifehacks #trustme

my beard's getting a smidge ginsberg-y again, but the clipper attachment on my trimmer's broken so i might just pony up for a pro trim
― moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:10 (thirteen years ago)
surm, did you say you own an Epilady? i bought one (i forget the brand, but not actually Epilady) and i'm pretty happy w/ it for managing my sparse, patchy, asymmetrical chest hair.
― Je55e, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:12 (thirteen years ago)
I can't imagine how much that would hurt.
― Eric H., Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:13 (thirteen years ago)
says the guy w/ a sleeve tattoo!
― Je55e, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)
yup i have a epilator by Braun. it is really really good for certain things, sooo smoooooth. i've also had one of the most painful experiences in my life with it. live and learn!
― surm, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)
anyway, it doesn't really hurt. it just feels like moderate abrasion.

Tats don't hurt after the first 5 minutes.
― Eric H., Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:17 (thirteen years ago)
lol xoxo
The only tattoo that truly hurt was the one under my arm, and it hurt like crazy for the entire time, which was about an hour.
― Je55e, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:25 (thirteen years ago)
I mind armpit bush more and more as I age but not enough to shave it.
I once dated a guy so devoid of hair he looked like a seal. I think he even boasted flippers.

always envied dudes with coarse underarm hair, not gonna lie

Pubes on the other hand I gotta keep an eye on

I trimmed my jungle (with scissors) for the first time like a week ago. I kinda feel more confidant sexually but it itches now.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 22:35 (thirteen years ago)
Only time I've ever removed hair below the neck.
In other hair news, I'm thinking about shaving my beard off and I am well overdue for a haircut.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 22:36 (thirteen years ago)
your beard looks great though
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 22:41 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, it does suit me, I just feel like a change
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 23:03 (thirteen years ago)
It itches just after a trim? I feel like trimming avoids the itchiness caused by shaving which is just....uncomfortable. Did that once + never again.
― twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 23:04 (thirteen years ago)
I shaved pubes after a case of crabs twelve years ago...I dunno what was worse.
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 23:06 (thirteen years ago)
only part that itches is right on the pubis where my belt buckle rests
― The Reverend, Thursday, 26 July 2012 01:17 (thirteen years ago)
1. Not a big fan of body shaving for myself, but the bf all but insists upon it. Never shaved arms/legs and never will.
2. Chest trimming I'm cool with doing, but haven't done it lately since I'm still working on getting back in shape (bad news to younger board members: 30 really does change everything) and trying to make my chest look nice & clean at this point gets into rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic territory.
3. Don't personally care if a guy is hairy or smooth, but guys being completely pubeless freaks me out.
4. If I get my hair cut four times a year, that's a busy haircutting year for me.
5. Can't grow a beard. I mean, I'm sure I'm physically capable, but five days is the longest I can stand the stubble (yes, I've been told there's a threshold here, but I've never been able to get beyond it).

my metabolism just keeps getting better! i swear i ate a whole pizza last week and lost weight
― surm, Thursday, 26 July 2012 03:19 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, I figured that 30 is the point of no return so I'm trying to get back in fighting shape as fast as possible. Maintenance is easier than reversal, and my family's genes don't help matters - weight issues on one side of the family, heart conditions on the other! Sigh.
― twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 26 July 2012 03:56 (thirteen years ago)
I'm guilty of cockiness over the insanely fast metabolism I had when I was younger while my friends and bf struggled with weight ("watch me eat this entire pizza and gain nary a pound! Muhahahahaha!") so my unprecedented weight gain over the last couple of years might just be some kind of karmic ass-biting. Not that I'm overweight now by any definition; just so used to being thin that it's kind of an unpleasant shock to actually have to go to the gym and eat (reasonably) well now.
Should be doing both anyway. History of heart disease on BOTH sides of my family, so I'm already a ticking time bomb in that sense. But who thinks of this shit when they're 21?
― to welcome jer.fairall, pie is served. (jer.fairall), Thursday, 26 July 2012 04:09 (thirteen years ago)
I'm sure I did. It's my nervous disposition that's keeping me so trim, so I'm not about to stop worrying.
― Eric H., Thursday, 26 July 2012 04:12 (thirteen years ago)
- i trim my pubes to a manageable length. don't really understand the trimming of anything else.
that said, i do tend to go for boys who don't have much body hair. like th3o looks like he's 16.
- my metabolism is fast enough, and i actually am in better shape than i was at 18 (or 21 or 25).
- tats don't really hurt all that much, tbh.

Yeah, I figured that 30 is the point of no return
ha – no. It's when things get interesting.
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 26 July 2012 12:22 (thirteen years ago)
I know some ppl who look p good multiple years after "the point of no return," we could start w/ the tuna is space.
― Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 26 July 2012 13:57 (thirteen years ago)
but I'm glad I got in 4 years of being gay before I turned the corner.
I can't even see the corner yet. Screw the point of no return.
― Eric H., Thursday, 26 July 2012 14:03 (thirteen years ago)
(Admittedly, the corner could also be behind me and I just don't know it.)
― Eric H., Thursday, 26 July 2012 14:04 (thirteen years ago)
my aunt is like 60 and she looks 35 so i'm bankin on those genes o snap
― surm, Thursday, 26 July 2012 14:43 (thirteen years ago)
also healthful eating is something i have thought about for a while bc of family history so if i keep playing tennis and watching it i am confident my pride will prevent me from gaining too much weight
i just couldn't deal, i'm uncomfortable enough in my own skin as it is :P
― surm, Thursday, 26 July 2012 14:45 (thirteen years ago)
i've got a few good years of metabolism left before i turn into my dad i think
― moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 26 July 2012 15:07 (thirteen years ago)
I always say that, but I expect the change is so gradual that it's hard to really get a grasp on creeping paunch.
― Eric H., Thursday, 26 July 2012 15:07 (thirteen years ago)
i am in good health otherwise tho i also haven't had a physical in over a decade :x
― moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 26 July 2012 15:11 (thirteen years ago)
! you should goooo
― surm, Thursday, 26 July 2012 16:28 (thirteen years ago)
I didn't mean that 30 is the point of no return as in people after thirty don't look good! I know tons of 40 and 50 year olds who look better than me. I meant tha 30 is the point at which it becomes significantly more difficult to get in shape/back in shape from a position of being not at all.
Obviously you all look fabulous and I would make out with all of you. It was more of a 'personal deadline after which the amount of effort required to get healthy increases'. I might be wrong about that too! But I didn't intend to insult everyone at once.

it's fine! nobody's upset! i'm just ... 29 :)
― surm, Thursday, 26 July 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)
I wasn't upset either. I'm just glad I started climbing when I was 25.
― Eric H., Thursday, 26 July 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)
I was just having fun, but I'm glad u clarified, sweetie. My finding is EVERY YEAR makes it harder. My body kinda went *BLUP* at about 23, tho it wasn't real noticeable til my 40s.
