ok - so that fucking CNN piece did the same thing everyone here was doing when Walt "Let Jane die".he had previously handed Jesse a gun and told him to take care of the guys the ripped them off. literally ordered him to kill some people. but everyone flew off the handle later on, when he watched this attractive young girl choke to death on her own vomit; saying that he had "gone too far" and yadda yadda.
just a thing that always bothered me about peoples reaction to this show - letting an attractive girl die is in no way worse than ordering the murder of two junkies, people!

of all the big HBO/AMC shows from the past decade or so i think only The Sopranos was really adept at using music
― Number None, Tuesday, 24 July 2012 23:33 (thirteen years ago)
and yet The Sopranos had the worst theme song of them all
― nakhchi little van (some dude), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 01:07 (thirteen years ago)
you had the worst...etc

The Sopranos theme worked because it was exactly the dumb kind of edgy song some mobster would pick as his show open.

Used to goose sunny at the end when it would do the whip-pow! thing.

The Wire had the best theme music
― sarahell, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 04:03 (thirteen years ago)
i wasnt super crazy about the cold open cuz it was so obv the guy was gonna kill himself in some inventive breaking bad way, i kept thinking, the only way this scene is gonna surprise me is if he doesnt do it

Terriers had the best theme song of the past few years
― Number None, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 10:15 (thirteen years ago)
I love the Terriers theme song. I liked John from Cincinnati's better, but that one was kind of cheating.

At this point basically everyone needs to go to jail except Walt Jr., and even then, they should send him to useless character jail. It almost seemed like an in joke when they made a point of showing that he .... DID NOT FINISH HIS BREAKFAST
uh, wasnt that a shot of skylar's breakfast, the point being she still hadnt left her bedrest?

a drug dealer?? i think we've already established that walter white is not a reasonable "good" guy
I don't know, who around their table might be really stupid and presumptive and never think about the consequences of their actions?

Once again Walt's last interaction w/ Skyler was off the creep-o-meter. Yuck yuck yuck yuck.
― ms. cookie (carl agatha), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 15:13 (thirteen years ago)
Anyway they seem to be setting up Walt and Skylar as adversaries for this season with Saul in the middle. Once Hank's rehabilitation is through (and this seems to be happening very quickly) does Skylar have any reason to continue receiving drug money?

they've really throttled down the NEED for money; seems like the carwash provides enough where walt really could just pay jessie in installments and call it a day. also: except for the HARBINGER OF DOOM cold opening on ep 1, cancer is nowhere to be seen
― I dont even know that I think this sucks per se (forksclovetofu), Wednesday, 25 July 2012 15:24 (thirteen years ago)
didn't Walt say he was broke in this episode?
― sarahell, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 15:35 (thirteen years ago)
nah, he said he was 40k in the hole to jessie; i feel fairly certain he's not thinking about the car wash. that's SKYLAR'S money now and it doesn't count

Car wash probably doesn't actually make that much money, it's for laundering purposes really, certainly not enough to justify a year or two of abject hell and life threatening situations.
But it's not really about the money at this point.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 15:49 (thirteen years ago)
i think the net profits from the car wash were discussed in a previous season (definitely when Sky was negotiating w/the former owner), and i think they were higher than the Walt's pre-meth income
― sarahell, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 15:52 (thirteen years ago)
hope we're treated to a fun montage set to this sometime this season!

You're totally right about the breakfast cereal. Though surely someone has put together a compendium of Walt Jr. eating breakfast then leaving the table.

i just typed walt jr into youtube search and the first thing in the pulldown bar was 'walt jr breakfast'

Does the car wash seem like the most likely location for Walt and Jesse's new meth lab? Is this possible? It would implicate Skyler majorly.
Also, Lydia's body language during the meeting with the DEA was a pretty strong tell, particularly the way she looked at the Madrigal CEO or President or whatever following the 'alleged' comment. I read it as: ok, the Madrigral boss is definitely involved and possibly the terrifying heart of the Fring operation.
And I've been really loving and noticing the hairstyles.
