the employees chirp "Have a blessed day!" as they hand over your waffle fries
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:19 (thirteen years ago)
can you punch them
― PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:19 (thirteen years ago)
not before they hand over their lemonade, the only one of their shitty products I can consume.
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:21 (thirteen years ago)
I don't remember them ever saying "Have a blessed day!" when they were on campus but I only went there maybe 3 times
― PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:24 (thirteen years ago)
also if they were to say that on campus, it's likely they would burst into flames
― PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:25 (thirteen years ago)
of course the guy could have said "have a messed-up day" because whenever I approach the counter I mince.
― a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)
Ive never heard any of the Chik Fil A counterpeople say that at the ones around here.

― PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:30 (thirteen years ago)
I'm not sure if comparing them to fried chicken places is valid because Chik-fil-a is almost all chicken patties/nuggets/strips. It's mostly finger food.
― hot sauce delivery device (mh), Tuesday, 24 July 2012 20:31 (thirteen years ago)
yeah, i've never heard that. don't blame the employees, people!

also why is this news re. chik-fil-a just breaking these past few weeks? somehow i knew about their donations years ago...
― flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Tuesday, July 24, 2012 3:13 PM
Yeah, this is kind of odd. I thought their conservative/fundie/homophobe bona fides were universally known. I've been avoiding giving them my money for at least a decade, since I heard about them donating to Eagle Forum and the AFA and such.

also people who are bummed about chick-fil-a: it's just shitty fried chicken, you can get pretty much the same thing at mcdonald's or popeyes or kfc without directly funding a publicly homophobic company

not defending chick-fil-a as a company but their batter's got a unique flavor compared to most of those chains.

this has literally never happened to me at a chick-fil-a. i also worked at a chick-fil-a for a few weeks right before graduating high school. i imagine it might be different for store managers or franchise owners, but there was zero religious pressure put on me or any employees that i could see. in any case, fuck 'em.

I've been in only one CAF in my life so this might be the policy at the store located in the secular heart of a diseased county, i.e. a public university in Miami-Dade.

I stopped eating Popeye's because of the "Annie the Chicken Queen" commercials, and now this. I need to eat less fried food though so I guess overall it's a plus.
also the only times Chick-Fil-A employees have said stuff like "have a blessed day!" to me were in semi-rural regions where a Wendy's or Burger King employee would have said the same thing. I've never been too weirded out by the closed on Sunday thing. That's not an offensive practice imo.

― mookieproof, Wednesday, 25 July 2012 19:03 (thirteen years ago)
the only chik-fil-a i've ever been to was on my old campus, where the employees were obv just stressed-out students trying to move the line along as fast as possible -- so yeah, never got to hear 'have a blessed day.'

Bey named the business Your Black Muslim Bakery on the personal recommendation of his spiritual guide, Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad. In 1971, Bey moved the bakery to Oakland.[1] By 1974 it was the "largest Bay Area bakery specializing exclusively in natural food products", with over 6,000 loaves of bread and over 300 cakes per week sold at 150 stores.
