I can't wait until The University of Edward Masen gets turned into a real book!

homosexual II, Thursday, 19 July 2012 22:08 (thirteen years ago)

Same plot, pretty much, except in this one "Christian Grey" will be a University professor specializing in the works of Dante.

homosexual II, Thursday, 19 July 2012 22:11 (thirteen years ago)

oKAY WAIT IT APPEARS THIS THING IS POPULAR, TOO.

homosexual II, Thursday, 19 July 2012 22:11 (thirteen years ago)

So this is a THING NOW, I see. Former Twilight fanfiction being published. I do remember the University of Edward Masen being written better than the Shades of Grey book, but there was some very clueless 'CLASSY' stuff thrown in like roses and soft classical music and I do believe at one point Edward sent Bella a big bouquet of Edible Arrangements. Which was lulzy.

homosexual II, Thursday, 19 July 2012 22:13 (thirteen years ago)

haha classy indeed

Team Safeword (Abbbottt), Thursday, 19 July 2012 22:19 (thirteen years ago)

also professors are classier than executives

LOL. You can tell that a lot of these Twilight fan fiction works have been written by older women, because they seem to have dated, corny ideas about romance.

LISTEN TO THIS BRAD (Nicole), Thursday, 19 July 2012 22:26 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, very late 80's, early 90's. Rose petals, soft jazz music, candlelight. Edible Arrangements. Silk boxers.

And I suppose thats why this dreck is a bestseller, too! All these bored/unfulfilled women, reading about this weird fantasy life they'll never know... or something. I found out my SIL read and loved it and "felt lost" once she'd finished the book (ew, jeez) and I was actually surprised... to me, having that level of reaction to such a book is indicative of something srsly missing in one's life.

Oh MAN I wish I could find the actual scene, but the soundtrack from it will have to do:

What about shooting thru rain streaming down windows panes into a bedroom filled with candles and a princess canopy bed?

Advice for life, never google stuff you aren't aware of at all, e.g. let's say someone called Noel Breadwort googled 50 Shades of Grey after hearing 500 jokes about it... whoops...

contenderizer, Monday, 23 July 2012 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

I get wanting to do something different, but everything is wrong with Emma Watson being in a movie adaptation of this tripe.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Monday, 23 July 2012 22:18 (thirteen years ago)

can't it just be Kristen Stewart

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 23 July 2012 22:22 (thirteen years ago)

See maybe I'm projecting bc I kind of love K Stew or maybe it's bc of her nonstop surliness re everything, but I feel like she would look at this book and see it for the crappity crap crap that it is rather than jump on it as an opportunity to distance herself from her breakout kid role.

ms. cookie (carl agatha), Monday, 23 July 2012 22:48 (thirteen years ago)

my wife was apparently the only person on earth who wasn't familiar with this novel, so I started describing it to her, making clear how bad it appeared to be and how ridiculous the phenomenon was. She was like "hmm, well, maybe I'll check it out." My internal monologue went like this: "NOOOOOOOOO...wait...uh...YEAH...wait...NOOOOOOOOO"

Will Chave (Hurting 2), Monday, 23 July 2012 22:48 (thirteen years ago)

i want someone to grab this opportunity and camp it up as much as possible
