Most guys' fashion sense surpass mine, whether they're gay or straight. A hetero friend of mone used to joke how horribly I fashionable I am, not cause I was gay, but just because of how little I appeared to care about such things.

Was the guy who allegedly made the assumption re: yr fashion sense gay or straight? Cause my level of offense taken (not that it'd be THAT much anyway) would depend on that.

"boof" is still a really hideous coinage

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

i am wearing black today. my grandmother would wear black after my father died. but i'm not wearing it for morbid reasons; i just like black. i don't like to wear it all the time, but sometimes it's just what you need. i might go out tomorrow night, after i meet with a friend. there might be someone at the party that i know. i'll have to look good. i have a glow-in-the-dark shirt with bats on it that i could wear but it would be too hot -- it has a three-quarter length sleeve -- so i'll have to find something else.

surm, Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

That whole song is hideous, still.

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 19 July 2012 14:35 (thirteen years ago)

Surm you really should watch that; dude is so spot on. It's not so much funny as it is incredible

shmamille shmaglia (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 19 July 2012 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

It's certainly detail-oriented.

my friend calls them "schmo-mosexuals"

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 16:35 (thirteen years ago)

well, "them." i'm increasingly entering this state, my bedroom is a mess and our kitchen has fruit flies :/

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

The line between casual and health hazard is not as thin as you think.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Thursday, 19 July 2012 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

ah jeez, just realized i've never not been a shmo-mosexual

Ugh. The kid's good, but what he's doing is fucking awful.

Je55e, Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:22 (thirteen years ago)

There are plenty of gay slobs. Especially what with the meth epidemic.

I'm a slob, but it's somewhat a matter of the shoemaker's son going barefoot.

Je55e, Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:26 (thirteen years ago)

Bc he lost his shoes in the heaps of dirty laundry.

good article about homeless queer youth in boystown:

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:32 (thirteen years ago)

Ok, really should have read the Mark Allen piece before I signed on as a shmo-mosexual (or glob). I do live amongst a disorganized collection of books, vinyl records, DVDs, and my dog's numerous toys, but I do frequently run a vacuum cleaner through the place (dog hair is too much of an issue not to, even if I didn't want to), I don't think it's acceptable to go out anywhere ('cept the gym--which alone right there might disqualify me) in grey sweatpants, and our place remains thankfully non-infested with stray vermin. Also, my bf curbs many of my globish tendencies (though probably not as many as he'd like).

to welcome jer.fairall, pie is served. (jer.fairall), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:40 (thirteen years ago)

I only vacuum when I move. It's been 4 years.

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:03 (thirteen years ago)

i clean the shit out of my place whenever we have parties but we've only had 2 parties here so

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

I'm not mad at the dirt or anything, but, srsly guys. Pick up a broom every once in awhile.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

so, only a Grey Gardens fan at a remove?

I don't let anything get unsanitary.

Misc. Carnivora (Matt P), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

I wouldn't have stepped foot in that house, but would've hung out with them on the deck.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:20 (thirteen years ago)

Dirty bathrooms are the dealbreaker.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:24 (thirteen years ago)

haha had that same thought too, matt

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:26 (thirteen years ago)

I was only in Boystown one night this time for a couple hours to go to the Chicago Diner, def not long enough to absorb anything except the weird steel rainbow phalluses on every block.

If I visit those guys again I am not sleeping anywhere near the muskrat path.

My toilet is immaculate. The floor, just dusty.

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:29 (thirteen years ago)

My bf of nine years is fixing to join ILX, mostly to start an "Ask a Filipino" thread, after reading yesterday's papasan conversation.

He and I are living in different cities this year. His mom is sick and needs taking care of. Obviously it's totally great that I can work and he can take time off to look after her, but I selfishly miss having a confidant in the room.

Ówen P., Thursday, 19 July 2012 20:55 (thirteen years ago)

Sorry, Owen/I'm impressed. Distance is never fun/easy.

JF is in New York for two months and finding times that work for both of us to just squeeze in quick 'what have you been up to' conversations is tricky. I can't imagine what a year (or longer) would be like. My sister and her boyfriend did four years of long distance, though, so I guess people make it work for them.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:14 (thirteen years ago)

yeah geez i'm at three weeks with my bf gone and i'm already going stir-crazy kind of. are you gonna go visit him?

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:16 (thirteen years ago)

owen or me?

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:16 (thirteen years ago)

i wanted to, because i love new york, and every time i've been this year i've only managed to see one or two of y'all but it might be prohibitively expensive?

i'm doing a bunch of non-paying work for the summer, and my last potential paying research gig didn't pan out, so even though JF has a place for the month it looks less likely.

he's back august 4, so I have two potential weeks to do it? i dunno. i'd also have to find someone else to take care of his cat, etc. while i'm gone. just complicated.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:18 (thirteen years ago)

i promise i'll come back and visit soon, though. maybe sometime in the fall? maybe i'll drag him down for his birthday? who knows.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:18 (thirteen years ago)

ha, that was to whomever! two weeks seems like short enough of a wait to me.

if B goes down there again for longer (like 3 months or something) i'd like to visit him, although this presumes i'll have $1000 to blow by that point which...

moesha my reflection (donna rouge), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:27 (thirteen years ago)

As for me, my bf is only three hours away. Kingston. Boo hoo. It's not THAT bad, we see each other every three weeks or so. But I have been having the weirdest mental issues without him around. Panic attacks, tearful phone calls, real pathetic stuff. I started playing video games in the evenings to deal, for the first time in years. I guess I'm in no position to complain, the couple of you who've met him know he's pretty much an A+ dude.

Ówen P., Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:32 (thirteen years ago)

It's ok! I've displaced all my boyfriend feelings (well, not all my boyfriend feelings, but you know what I mean) onto his cat that I'm watching for a month, and when the cat started dealing poorly with the 32+ degree weather, I decided I should panic about my relationship.

Sanity! It's overrated.

twinkin' and drinkin' and ready to fly (Alex in Montreal), Thursday, 19 July 2012 23:28 (thirteen years ago)

i don't need distance to act completely irrational about my relationship. :/

Misc. Carnivora (Matt P), Thursday, 19 July 2012 23:31 (thirteen years ago)

I'm watching Glitter and can't tell if it's so bad it's good or so blah it's boring. This feels like a made-for-VH1 film it's constructed of the dullest cliches but there's nothing flamboyantly bad about it. It seems completely pointless.
