those bastards wrote the book on that. bb can be fanciful at times but only as part of an overall tone of the show imo, eg the plane crash or something.

I even thought the plane crash basically made sense w.r.t the show's themes.

Yeah, I get the metaphor, and in a way, I appreciate how the show has treated it since. Walt's responsible for all those plane crash/meth victims. And now, those victims are just a punchline to one of Saul's TV commercials. But narratively speaking, it didn't ring true.

i don't i hated the coincidence/jutxtaposition of the airplane crash falling into Walt's pool with the junkie GF's dad being an air traffic controller

Yeah, I didn't start watching BB until the middle of Season 4's on-air run, so I was way behind. I really hated that plane crash too, it was a little much. But, thankfully, I stayed with it and Season 3 renewed my faith.

S2 was the only one the writers mapped out from beginning to end, right?

And that's strange because the plane crash seems the most improvised of the season finales.

No way dude, I'm right in the middle too! I really liked Malcolm. I didn't watch all the way through the series but at least the first 2 or 3 seasons or I was a regular viewer.

Malcolm would've been a much better show without Malcolm himself. I liked the rest of the family, but he annoyed me so much I could barely watch it.

i don't remember having a strong opinion on the plane crash. i guess in retrospect it was a bit OTT even for the show but i think i was binging on episodes when i watched it and was just like... YEAH YEAH YEAH

I found it a bit innaritu

I didn't love it but it wasn't that big a deal. Maybe would have been more tolerable if there hadn't been an entire season of foreshadowing and buildup with the constant shots of the teddy bear eyeball in the pool.

and yeah the coincidence of it being the girl's dad was a bit much

The Malcolm in the Middle thing is a big reason why I resisted watching BB for awhile. I hated that show.

I was super-excited for Cranston on Breaking Bad because he had been so incredible on Malcolm In The Middle. Casting agent for that should have got an Emmy Emeritus every year it was on for how amazing the regular cast was, esp Hal, Reese and Dewey

If anything, BB's fans are the ones that in my experience seem the most pissed about the plane crash.

It was kind of crazy but it's fiction. Remember the crazy death cult brothers who crawled through the desert to a shrine? Magical realism? Worse than plane?
