everyday "pitchforky" - I just getting everyone prepared for the 2010's.

I think it's "everything," not "everyday." The implication is that in a few years, all the Pitchfork faves from 2000-09 will be as unwanted as the Spin Doctors are today.

Thanks jaymc, I think that is really pretty similar to how I feel. I dig myself into those holes because I want to overexplain stuff when misunderstandings arise or someone misinterprets one of my posts, but it just makes things worse.

heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

xp In my view, history has been much kinder to you (jaymc) in that thread than it was to those other assholes.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

Ha, "history."

The Noise Board at its peak was a strange thing.

Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:13 (thirteen years ago)

yeah was that like the first major ilx crisis? or like the first major shift in ilx tone?

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

crisis on infinite boards

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)

I think the tone of ILX gradually evolved in its first few years as the sheer number of posters increased and the geographic balance shifted from the UK to the US. But the tone of the early Noise Board did feel significantly different, and I think it's definitely had a big impact on the board as a whole.

Fucking kids and their ironic detachment and fear of sincerity IMO. Which is kind of rich coming from me but whatever I'm old and I have feelings now.

Hey! One last reminder that tonight is PIZZA NIGHT. Thank you.

carl agatha, Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:38 (thirteen years ago)

i ordered our pizza at like 7:30 this morning

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 19:58 (thirteen years ago)

Thunderstorm and rain. This drought is a major bummer, but a rain storm helps lift buoy the spirits at least.

Je55e, Thursday, 19 July 2012 02:56 (thirteen years ago)

Fucking kids and their ironic detachment and fear of sincerity IMO.

this is pretty much why I took a break from ilx. but now instead of leaving altogether I will just avoid engaging certain posters.

hi btw!

Hi Corey! what's happening?

Dan - My cousin in Mexico friended me and at first glance I thought you were a mutual friend b/c of this https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dani-Martin/106046552768232?rf=107977299229886

LL, this post reminded me of what you were saying about using references to gate-keep:

Giving 'normal people' pop-cultural references or long words that are just one shade too obscure for that particular person to get, requiring convoluted explanation.

Those aren't the kids anymore. +30 = irony. -30 = absurdity.

Odd Spice (Eazy), Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:27 (thirteen years ago)

I'm almost 40 so I'm really into diagnostic healthcare and going to bed early.

carl agatha, Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:46 (thirteen years ago)

+40 = bingo.

^ exactly what I was gonna post

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 19 July 2012 16:57 (thirteen years ago)

I forgot to mention that R and I had some food at Bad Apple last night and at one point there were both Eazy and askance johnson dopplegangers in the back room that made me do a double-take.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:17 (thirteen years ago)

was my doppelganger hanging out with eazy's doppelganger?

i invented steampunk (askance johnson), Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:32 (thirteen years ago)

How did you find the food, Daniel?

carl agatha, Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:34 (thirteen years ago)

btw Homemade Pizza Co's pizza was actually great, though I still don't know if I can generally get behind the idea of paying twenty bucks for a pizza I then have to cook.

i invented steampunk (askance johnson), Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

I like it because you get a pizza that is actually hot.

Jeff, Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:55 (thirteen years ago)

Oh, have you never had it before? We used to get it a lot, but have shifted into cooking more so it's been awhile. But I love it. We got the barbecue chicken pizza and more or less destroyed it like ravenous wolves.

carl agatha, Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:56 (thirteen years ago)

Also we started saying things like, "I can't wait until pizza night!" like, last Thursday. Ha.

carl agatha, Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:56 (thirteen years ago)

No, I'd never had it before. As I said, I was kind of turned off by the whole concept. But now that I've had it I can see how it could be a good idea. Though frankly I am a huge devotee of frozen pizzas and that will probably never change.

i invented steampunk (askance johnson), Thursday, 19 July 2012 19:59 (thirteen years ago)

The dopplegangers weren't hanging out together, unfortunately. Eazy's had a couple of kids with him, though.

I had eaten at Bad Apple once before. I had a porchetta sandwich, which was good but I'm trying to cut out as much bread/starch as I can, and thus eating a sandwich and some fries was a stupid idea. I felt kind of gross afterward.

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 19 July 2012 20:01 (thirteen years ago)

btw is anyone else buying tickets to the RevBrew event for CWHC?

DX Dx DX (dan m), Thursday, 19 July 2012 20:02 (thirteen years ago)

The HPC BBQ pizza is fantastic, as far as those things go. I completely intended to pick up a pizza on my way home last night, but Cubs traffic significantly fucked up my travel home and I was so annoyed that I just went home. I didn't have the patience for another stop at that point.

heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Thursday, 19 July 2012 20:03 (thirteen years ago)

xp The last couple times we've ordered pizza it's been from Naked Pizza, which just opened down the street from us. Their veggie pizza is really good, and it's close enough to still be hot when it arrives.

Obviously we are buying RevBrew tickets. Although we might get them at the door to avoid the service fee. I hate service fees.

No worries, JVC. Cubs traffic ruins everything.

carl agatha, Thursday, 19 July 2012 20:04 (thirteen years ago)

i've been eating a lot of pizza lately. i think the best is when we get pizza dough from TJs and put our own toppings/sauce on it, but we get delivery sometimes (usually from la villa) or frozen tombstone or TJs pizza. i like homemade pizza co. but usually TJs dough + toppings is just as good and easy and a lot cheaper.

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 19 July 2012 20:14 (thirteen years ago)

Pretty much the only pizza we ever do is TJ's frozen pizza, which is like $4, iirc. We get the margherita one and then chop up a few of our own veggies to put on top.

Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Thursday, 19 July 2012 21:34 (thirteen years ago)

I'm gonna try to do the RevBrew thing.

I would love to go (and also see you guys) but I have a date with my demon lover, Agalloch.
