on a hot day carl a. and i were outside and she commented on the way i was awkwardly holding my arms away from my body. i limply tried to explain by saying only, "have you ever seen a chicken get hot?"

"have you ever seen a chicken get hot?" should have, but never did catch on as an in-joke, but at least it was funny the rest of the day.

its still 90 degrees outside right now. pretty uh warm. we've got the ac on. we've had it on for weeks. electric bill should be fun.

We've got a cat visiting our backyard, and Beeps and I went about the neighborhood this evening looking for his owner.

We knocked on one door and their electric bill was sticking out. $37. Jealousy pored through me like gravy.

I have never seen a chicken get hot, despite my grandparents having chicken houses when I was a kid. I did used to go play with the biddies. Also ate a lot of chicken.

if NEXT summer is the hottest summer ever in history, then yeah this is how the world ends. i don't think you can have ten of the hottest summers ever in a row or whatever without getting the hint.

for real, everyone will forget about this in October. that's what happened the last several times we broke the global temperature record. then there will be snow in the winter and everyone will be like "where is your global warming now, lol! we don't understand how probability works!". then summer 2013 will be pretty hot but not quite as hot as summer 2012 and everyone will be like "it's always hot in summer! it's normal to have wildfires running rampant everywhere, let's go to the beach!". then summer 2014 will be recordbreaking hell-humiliating hot, and we'll all be like "god damn this is terrible!" and the cycle will start again

20 warmest years on record are all within the last 20 years. maybe we will go through a cooling phase next...

i finally broke down and bought an AC unit the other day after going several years without. the downside is now i want to sit in my room all day and never go outside

first ac i bought was for my 4th floor walkup in philly. it was heaven. i felt decadent leaving all the bodies sprawled out on the sidewalk and then going up to my cool pad and turning on the premium cable and ac and cracking open a beer. i went to work every day and then i went home at night. until fall.

Too effin hot status repealed for a while.

Holy shit the extended forecast says it's going to be in the mid-70s on July 27th. I know that once you get past like, four days out it's just chicken guts and tea leaves but I'm going to believe in the truth of that forecast with every fiber of my being.

Yes! I noticed that when I left to catch the bus this morning.

You know what else I hate about hot weather (and humidity, which even with the temp drop it is still humid as fuck out there)? In the winter, I can easily get two or three wears out of a garment between washings because I've got underclothes on and I'm not sweating. But now everything is touching my sweaty, sticky skin so I have to wash it, which means more laundry and my clothes wear out faster. Harrumph!

That's a problem. I wear underclothes and hand wash and spot wash a lot in the summer, but nothing works like a full wash on wilted, clammy clothes.
