Golf - Classic or Dud?

I find it impossible to make predictions on the British because so much seems to depend on whether your game is suitable to the course and conditions.

maybe woods is the right pick at this point because he is almost exclusively playing that low stinging fade which seems perfect for Open style golf. OBviously he's not a longshot.

i went for:

£5 e/w on zach johnson at 66-1.

£2 win on adam scott at 40-1.

£3 e/w on rickie fowler at 33-1.

adam scott going along nicely. considering there is zero wind atm the course seems to be awfully tough. tiger going along serenely tho.

Couple of lads at my work have a couple of quid each way on Paul Lawrie, seems like a decent outside bet.

yeah he's going well so far.

i'm off sick today, and it's actually genuine, not sure anything could beat golf for sick tv.

love the way the narrative of the open every year is "not enough wind, those americans don't know their born" with a faint edge of boredom as everyone annihilates the course v "horrible, horrible stuff, only the strong survive" as some deathly rain and wind rips everyone to pieces.

Based on scores, course looks to be playing much easier than anybody thought.

as a rule, 1st day is generally lowest scores - easy pin placement

colsaerts has done really well on euro tour this yr also, tho notably has faded on several sundays when he was in contention

the weather has been really kind too, up until the last couple of hours. there was no wind earlier.

I love when the British Open comes around and we get to hear Allis for part of the broadcast here in the States. Paul Azinger, Curtis Strange and Mike Tirico are godawful.

How about Snedeker at 175-1. Dufner could be a good call, but he may be more of a target golf guy. Zach Johnson really hot lately, i could see those odds narrow as more money put on him closer to tomorrow.

Scott/Tiger final pairing would be fun tomorrow for the caddy drama. (That already happened in another tournament, didn't it? Not the final round, though, and not a major.)

If Tiger could only get these approach shots to stop rolling. Hope Scott doesn't run away with this over the next few holes.
