I find it impossible to make predictions on the British because so much seems to depend on whether your game is suitable to the course and conditions.

maybe woods is the right pick at this point because he is almost exclusively playing that low stinging fade which seems perfect for Open style golf. OBviously he's not a longshot.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 13:41 (thirteen years ago)

i went for:

£5 e/w on zach johnson at 66-1.

£2 win on adam scott at 40-1.

£3 e/w on rickie fowler at 33-1.

adam scott going along nicely. considering there is zero wind atm the course seems to be awfully tough. tiger going along serenely tho.

Couple of lads at my work have a couple of quid each way on Paul Lawrie, seems like a decent outside bet.

ailsa, Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:21 (thirteen years ago)

yeah he's going well so far.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:24 (thirteen years ago)

i'm off sick today, and it's actually genuine, not sure anything could beat golf for sick tv.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:25 (thirteen years ago)

love the way the narrative of the open every year is "not enough wind, those americans don't know their born" with a faint edge of boredom as everyone annihilates the course v "horrible, horrible stuff, only the strong survive" as some deathly rain and wind rips everyone to pieces.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:28 (thirteen years ago)

don't know they're born... obv

i forgot to mention i have £10 on colsaerts at 1000-1.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:32 (thirteen years ago)

just felt his time had come.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:33 (thirteen years ago)

He did ok at US Open, at least for the first couple rounds. There would be worse places to put your dough

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

dud except when Jay Kordich does it

The Cheerfull Turtle (Latham Green), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:36 (thirteen years ago)

Based on scores, course looks to be playing much easier than anybody thought.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:37 (thirteen years ago)

as a rule, 1st day is generally lowest scores - easy pin placement

colsaerts has done really well on euro tour this yr also, tho notably has faded on several sundays when he was in contention

johnny crunch, Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:40 (thirteen years ago)

the weather has been really kind too, up until the last couple of hours. there was no wind earlier.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:44 (thirteen years ago)

zachary's odds narrowed substantially now

skrill xx (cozen), Thursday, 19 July 2012 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

if zach wins i may not make it in to work on monday

i know, terrifying! he gave him a glove with "sorry" on it though.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 18:33 (thirteen years ago)

The guy headed it OOB! I'd have taken the glove back off him if I were Rory.

peter alliss and wayne grady just had the following exchange:

wayne: "peter, you were the biggest baby of all time when you were born, is that right?"

peter: "not quite wayne, i was the heaviest baby born in europe for oh, 80 or 90 years. 14 pounds and two ounces."

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Friday, 20 July 2012 09:51 (thirteen years ago)

I love when the British Open comes around and we get to hear Allis for part of the broadcast here in the States. Paul Azinger, Curtis Strange and Mike Tirico are godawful.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Friday, 20 July 2012 13:40 (thirteen years ago)

How about Snedeker at 175-1. Dufner could be a good call, but he may be more of a target golf guy. Zach Johnson really hot lately, i could see those odds narrow as more money put on him closer to tomorrow.

How am i looking here, motherfuckahhs!

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Friday, 20 July 2012 13:41 (thirteen years ago)

I hope Tiger sticks to this underclub-down-the-fairway strategy; seems like something he should do more often.

clemenza, Friday, 20 July 2012 15:19 (thirteen years ago)

How about Snedeker at 175-1.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Friday, 20 July 2012 15:34 (thirteen years ago)

Seriously we all need a syndicate (esp now zach is crumbling)

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Friday, 20 July 2012 15:38 (thirteen years ago)

peter alliss heavy baby is one of my favourite autocomplete results

nakhchivan, Friday, 20 July 2012 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

a baby so heavy that he was heavier than his own body-weight in golf balls

nakhchivan, Friday, 20 July 2012 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

zach lighting up again. need the snedophile & scott to fall back a bit

still in the hunt

nothing I enjoy more than laughing at tiger woods. joyless dick

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Saturday, 21 July 2012 15:15 (thirteen years ago)

I have an irrational dislike of Adam Scott

What were the odds on calc pre-tourney

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Saturday, 21 July 2012 15:17 (thirteen years ago)

Scott/Tiger final pairing would be fun tomorrow for the caddy drama. (That already happened in another tournament, didn't it? Not the final round, though, and not a major.)

clemenza, Saturday, 21 July 2012 16:06 (thirteen years ago)

If Tiger could only get these approach shots to stop rolling. Hope Scott doesn't run away with this over the next few holes.

clemenza, Saturday, 21 July 2012 16:36 (thirteen years ago)

£5 e/w on zach johnson at 66-1.

£2 win on adam scott at 40-1.

Fingers crossed for you Ronan!

The wind is looking up and as long as Tiger falls apart it should be good Going for Graeme to win this.

otoh I love this run of 18 new major winners to continue.

Al S. Burr! (k3vin k.), Sunday, 22 July 2012 14:36 (thirteen years ago)

I'll hang on with Tiger for a few more holes and then, if he hasn't made up some ground, start rooting for Phil Collins.

clemenza, Sunday, 22 July 2012 15:13 (thirteen years ago)

man oh man wasn't that tripple bogey so much joy!

Though he's made a birdie since but it should be over.

Graeme made a nice birdie at the last but he'll drop one at the 9th - its Scott's but everybody is dropping shots.

xyzzzz__, Sunday, 22 July 2012 15:27 (thirteen years ago)

Drops one at the 10th, not 9th.

Scott looks assured, then again there isn't much pressure
