Actually, no, both Splendor and Smiley Face are definitely worse than Otto.

no way, i mean i take it for granted that people hate on most of araki's stuff but smiley face was pretty good, hilarious tho and a completely different mood than otto which was zzzzzzzz but i think i sat through the director's cut screening as part of the committee for the dc glbt film festival.

kaboom seemed like a rehash of the stylistic themes from nowhere made for the newer generation.

thought i loved gael morel a lot more than i do - it turns out i've just seen full speed + le clan and was accidentally attributing a lot of francois ozon's work to him, like time to leave.

mysterious skin was his one "mature" film, the others are kind of... not so

(also the only one he didn't write, or at least he didn't write the source material)

Also the one reasonably good movie of his I've ever seen. But I have so far skipped most of the meat of his '90s stuff.

i sat through MS painfully hoping he'd get back to his more or less "roots" of pop / chaotic stuff eventually, which luckily he did in smiley face + kaboom.

nowhere and totally fucked up are two of my favorite movies, and doom generation is enjoyable. mysterious skin was great but i don't think i could watch it again. i really love smiley face, although that might be based completely on the strength of anna faris's performance.

he also shot a pilot for mtv called "this is how the world ends", which used to be on megavideo somewhere. basically a sort of heterosexualized version of nowhere.

What would this clock measure? I have felt like a gay senior citizen since 35.

My increasing desire to be a parent, something I would have thought impossible a decade ago.

I have wanted to be a parent more than a boyfriend/husband for a few years running now.

But I'm not sure I'm capable of being Mr. Mom.

And if 35 = gay senior citizenship, then I should be getting to be ready to be a gay GRANDPARENT in a few years.

my granddad was gay. i found out via rummaging thru his room as a kid and running into his stack of playgirls (and strangely not being grossed out about it due to facts about self i realized later)

Statistically improbable as it seems, I was the first gay on either side of my families as far as anyone knows. Prolonged my coming out for no good reason; as far as I know, everyone's cool with it (or at least anyone who isn't keeps quiet about it).

i think the gay uncle role (not actual uncle obv) is one i can embrace anyway. i have literally zero inclination to be a father, and give thanks for this on a regular basis.

been a Funny Uncle two years. So far she has better taste in music and books than her parents.

it IS the #1 advantage of being gay though.

it was a small woven rattan wastepaper basket which was clean and didn't have a bag in it. i wanted to make sure the baby didn't crawl off the sofa while i went to make myself toast. then i forgot about it. then its parents came home :/

yeah i was actually quite psyched to not be expected to have kids, or get married back then for that matter. my mom's best friend my godfather was also gay so everything was a bit easy for me i guess.
