No one wants to die in the next war. They want to kill in the next war. Duh.

normativity is probably the most annoying word in the english language

add homo and you're really fucked

surm, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:31 (thirteen years ago)

They will want to kill because they will have gotten married.

the new dire homonormativity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:31 (thirteen years ago)

I was not pigeonholing catalogs/marriage as inherently bad. Esp if we bring back mail-order husbands.

Pangborn to be Wilde (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:31 (thirteen years ago)

Read that as "no more boobs ativity"

the new dire homonormativity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:32 (thirteen years ago)

Let's just say I'm proud of y'all for making the summer gay thread livelier in two days than the spring thread in two months.

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:45 (thirteen years ago)

Was going to say something about how we doubled the post count of this 3-week-old thread in one day, but didn't want to jinx it.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

You asshole.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

and you didn't want to marry me

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

Historically, though, I'm only ever gay in the summer.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:46 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha i'm honored tabes

surm, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 18:53 (thirteen years ago)

BLaB's accusation of homo-normativity should be taken with a wink and a smile, tho. See his other "Wondering" where he claims to hate, uh, everybody, basically, unless you're James Franco in drag.

is capybara gay? (Ówen P.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:04 (thirteen years ago)

perhaps this is why BLaB is a hero of mine.

Sophomore subs are the new Smith lesbians. (the table is the table), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:06 (thirteen years ago)

Any sort of skepticism toward homogenous subgenres of gay culture is some "hell is other people" bullshit that I haven't felt in ten years, see also accusations of hipsterdom. But in BLaB's case it is cool to tell people to lighten up and watch some gay zombie porn

is capybara gay? (Ówen P.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

Can I start BLaBonormative?

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

BLaB's no hero to me but I like his writing and three of his films and I like that we live in the same city and can chat sometimes

is capybara gay? (Ówen P.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:11 (thirteen years ago)

I wanna change normativity to normalness

is capybara gay? (Ówen P.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:12 (thirteen years ago)

homonormalness just rolllls off the tongue

is capybara gay? (Ówen P.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 19:12 (thirteen years ago)

well, hell is other people, I thought we were all agreed on that.

Actually, no, both Splendor and Smiley Face are definitely worse than Otto.

no way, i mean i take it for granted that people hate on most of araki's stuff but smiley face was pretty good, hilarious tho and a completely different mood than otto which was zzzzzzzz but i think i sat through the director's cut screening as part of the committee for the dc glbt film festival.

kaboom seemed like a rehash of the stylistic themes from nowhere made for the newer generation.

thought i loved gael morel a lot more than i do - it turns out i've just seen full speed + le clan and was accidentally attributing a lot of francois ozon's work to him, like time to leave.

What is consensus on this guy? All I know is everybody love love loved Mysterious Skin and I did not not not care for it at all

OPÓ (Ówen P.), Wednesday, 11 July 2012 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

mysterious skin was his one "mature" film, the others are kind of... not so

fauxmarc, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

(also the only one he didn't write, or at least he didn't write the source material)

fauxmarc, Wednesday, 11 July 2012 22:28 (thirteen years ago)

Also the one reasonably good movie of his I've ever seen. But I have so far skipped most of the meat of his '90s stuff.

the new dire homonomoreboobsativity (Eric H.), Thursday, 12 July 2012 00:49 (thirteen years ago)

I see what you did there

a regina spektor is haunting europe (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 12 July 2012 00:54 (thirteen years ago)

i sat through MS painfully hoping he'd get back to his more or less "roots" of pop / chaotic stuff eventually, which luckily he did in smiley face + kaboom.

fauxmarc, Thursday, 12 July 2012 01:27 (thirteen years ago)

nowhere and totally fucked up are two of my favorite movies, and doom generation is enjoyable. mysterious skin was great but i don't think i could watch it again. i really love smiley face, although that might be based completely on the strength of anna faris's performance.

1staethyr, Thursday, 12 July 2012 02:06 (thirteen years ago)

he also shot a pilot for mtv called "this is how the world ends", which used to be on megavideo somewhere. basically a sort of heterosexualized version of nowhere.

Few things are more satisfying than a gin and tonic at the airport bar an hour before boarding.
