i've talked about this before but: i love mysteries but i hate that all mystery books are part of series - hardly anyone publishes stand-alone mystery novels. i don't want the responsibility of a whole series, knowing which one comes first, etc. if only stand-alone mysteries were published, that would be all i read.

Have you read Tana French? (I know Sarah has.) Her books are related to each other, but not in a series.

It just came out on DVD this week, so unless you have DirecTV or have illegally streamed it, then you haven't seen it.

I never pictured Thor in flat-front trousers and 1 1/2 inch dressy heels.

Or really even sleeves, for that matter. But maybe there's a lot about Thor that I don't know.

Season 3? I was just looking for a site where I could watch it. Only 1 and 2 are up on Netflix.

Also was looking for a place to watch Lost Highway without a lot of hassle or waiting, but no luck.

Hey Jordan -- sorry I didn't really say goodbye on Friday! We made it an early night. And then on Saturday afternoon we drove to Yellowstone Lake State Park (about 50 miles southwest), where we stayed for the night, so our time in Madison was abbreviated. The music sounded pretty good, though.

I had no clue it had even rained, much less stormed! Much less strongly enough to do damage.

it was weird yesterday, it got superdark and superintense and then it kinda sprinkled for like 5-10 minutes and the sun came back out

There were trees down in my neighborhood, including a big one on Ravenswood at Montrose. Until I heard that it had stormed, I assumed it was part of the weekend work on the Metra tracks.

I hate standing next to something that's 500 degrees when it's already 90 out. How about someone make some gazpacho instead?

I think for the first time ever, I'm going to find a spot and watch the lakefront fireworks. With my full bag of camera stuff in tow, of course.
