2001: the day after a teenage Federer put out Sampras the headlines were effectively "if you don't win this now, Tim, you are worse than Hitler". The headlines tomorrow will be fun.
― Michael Jones, Thursday, 28 June 2012 21:34 (fourteen years ago)
Don't think anyone would fancy Murray to beat Djoko or Fed in the final, but certainly huge pressure to reach it now :-D
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 28 June 2012 21:42 (fourteen years ago)
Is Tsonga in that half?
― pandemic, Thursday, 28 June 2012 21:42 (fourteen years ago)
yes
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 28 June 2012 21:49 (fourteen years ago)

― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:27 (fourteen years ago)
HAPPENED
WHILE I WAS OUT
NO REALLY WHAT
I actually looked at the remaining schedule before I left and unlike y'day actually thought, cool! won't miss anything interesting!
WHATTTTTTTTT
OMG pressure on Murray is right. This is his window right here. I doubt he'll take it.
BTW am probz not going tomorrow due to accidental drunkenness now/work undone/flaky partner/lack of must-see outside court matches &c
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:29 (fourteen years ago)
Moral of the story, never have plans for the evening during the Wimbledon fortnight. I once had to drag myself away from the TV during that Isner/Mahut marathon, at least they dragged that one on for one more day.
― Moon Fuxx (Jill), Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:32 (fourteen years ago)
It always happens when you least expect it too. Like...in the matches you don't even half-suspect there could be an upset.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:37 (fourteen years ago)
Lex I'm comforted to know I wasn't the only one who misses this.
― Ned Raggett, Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:45 (fourteen years ago)
Missed, rather.
I haven't even been able to look at any news stories because MY JAW IS STILL ON THE GROUND
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:48 (fourteen years ago)
Also drunk
(Ned will understand if I just say "the Heawood bday")
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Thursday, 28 June 2012 23:49 (fourteen years ago)
Hahahah I understand perfectly!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 29 June 2012 00:05 (fourteen years ago)
Finally watching the clip of match point. Damn, if only I wasn't busy there for that stretch!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 29 June 2012 00:06 (fourteen years ago)
Right, just watched the last game. PEAK KVITOVA. Inspired by his countrywoman? Just...wow.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 00:07 (fourteen years ago)
Gonna document my day here as I go along probz. Just saw nadal practicing. He sucks obvs. Thought he'd be hitting the ball harder. I guess the spin was pretty cool but I'd def beat him
PRESCIENT.
― Merdeyeux, Friday, 29 June 2012 00:24 (fourteen years ago)
bbc iplayer the entire match. Rosol was just SO UNBELIEVABLY GOOD. PEAK BALLBASHING. Gorgeous to watch.
― uberweiss, Friday, 29 June 2012 00:25 (fourteen years ago)

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Ivo Karlovic accused the line judges at Wimbledon of favoring Andy Murray after they called a number of foot-faults against the hard-serving Croat on Centre Court.
Karlovic, who lost, said some of the calls were "outrageous" and that "after this match, the whole credibility of this tournament went down for me."
Murray edged Karlovic 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-6 (4) Thursday to reach the third round.
Karlovic said "it was always when it was 30-all or in a tiebreak. I mean, what is this? Is it Davis Cup or is it Wimbledon?"
Murray said he wasn't sure whether the calls were correct but that "if he wasn't foot-faulting then he has a right to be upset, because there was a lot of them."
― uberweiss, Friday, 29 June 2012 01:23 (fourteen years ago)
was def something fishy bout those foot faults
was shino in the house?
― uberweiss, Friday, 29 June 2012 01:26 (fourteen years ago)
I think I just realised I've been conflating Lukas Rosol and Lukas Lacko for some time now, and only recently managed to separate Lukasz Kubot from them as a big-bashing serve-and-volleyer who would be a threat on grass, lol.
Stephens to beat Lisucki today, yes? And probz Giorgi over Nadezhda as well. I have loved Su-Wei Hsieh and her eccentric shots fruitlessly for over a decade so I'm just hyped she's gonna be on a show court, hope she can do something surprising against Ma$ha.
Remember the '90s days when there'd always be a wacky men's QFist or several after a clay seed lost early? Opportunity for that again - it'll be Baker, Paire, Kohlschreiber or Rosol. Actually that's a GREAT selection there - Kohli has the best record but the other three are flashy winner machines who are fantastic to watch. Would probably watch each of those matches.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 07:33 (fourteen years ago)
Meanwhile one of Cirstea, Kirilenko, Peng and Rus will be a QFist, lol. PLEASE NOT EITHER OF THE FIRST TWO.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 07:34 (fourteen years ago)
Lex: he was hitting 99mph backhand winners down the line. Seriously astonishing stuff. Nadal did seem to have finally got the measure of him before the enforced 35min break for the closing of the roof though.
― Michael Jones, Friday, 29 June 2012 08:22 (fourteen years ago)
lol tbf Lukas Lacko is a lot like Lukas Rosol - flat-hitting big server who will probably never hit top 50 lifetime (though that might change for Rosol this year). Lacko took a 6-0 set off Nadal too last year iirc?
Stephens, yes. And Rus, hopefully. Also rooting for Goffin!
― Roz, Friday, 29 June 2012 08:47 (fourteen years ago)
Wait, Clijsters is playing Bepa? Missed that. This could've been a big, messy epic back in the day. Probably just messy and one-sided today.
― abcfsk, Friday, 29 June 2012 09:02 (fourteen years ago)
Lacko took a 6-0 set off Nadal too last year iirc?
Yes! 7-6 0-6 6-3, Doha 2011. I remembered this because, ironically enough, I was checking to see whether Rosol could be a threat to Nadal, and I had a dim recollection of this. So I looked it up and thought, oh, it wasn't Rosol it was LACKO, Rosol won't be a threat. I am an idiot.
Fairly sure Goffin will beat Mardy Fish Has A Heart Problem. Ward should've done it yesterday, Fish was so bad at times (understandable I guess).
Ivanovic vs Goerges is easily the least attractive 3R match for me. I wonder if either of them will achieve a single tactical thought during it.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 09:03 (fourteen years ago)
Poor Bepa. I find it best to pretend she doesn't exist these days. She makes this quite easy for me by always losing early ;_;
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 09:04 (fourteen years ago)
Before this years Wimbledon Lukas Rosol had only hit 13 aces (in 11 matches) in his entire grass court career. He hit 22 last night against Nadal.
Blimey, is this right (was just from some random dude on Twitter)? Maybe having the roof on helped his serve in the final set?
― katstevens, Friday, 29 June 2012 09:31 (fourteen years ago)
That's insane
― Too Busy Thinking About Mr. Abie (Tom D.), Friday, 29 June 2012 10:34 (fourteen years ago)
yessss they're replaying Nadal/Rosol, first time I've been grateful for the rain
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 11:12 (fourteen years ago)
Must say it's rather satisfying seeing Rafa have to hurry himself to play at Rosol's pace.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 11:32 (fourteen years ago)
That 99mph BH winner was quite something btw.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 11:37 (fourteen years ago)
Was crosscourt, not DTL, wasn't it? Oh well, memory jumbled.
― Michael Jones, Friday, 29 June 2012 11:46 (fourteen years ago)
Read somewhere that Rosol was taking just 10 seconds btw serves towards the end - god that must have driven Rafa nuts. Always wondered why Fed never did that, like just take time away from him.
― Roz, Friday, 29 June 2012 11:52 (fourteen years ago)
Djokovic should have broken in like every Sexxxpanek service game so far.
Stephens led 5-3 in the TB than just ballooned balls over the baseline on four straight points.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 13:12 (fourteen years ago)
Wow, Stepanek had won 20% of return points in the first four Nole service games. Now... 00-40?
― neil young & crazy town (edwardo), Friday, 29 June 2012 13:14 (fourteen years ago)
Tennis, eh? Still, Djokovic can't lose this, but I bet Fed's glad his next opponent's a Frenchie.
― neil young & crazy town (edwardo), Friday, 29 June 2012 13:15 (fourteen years ago)
wow what is up with Centre Court this week? Upset central.
― Roz, Friday, 29 June 2012 13:16 (fourteen years ago)
And then drops his own serve to love to give the set away. WTF.
― bitch I'm on the 242 (lex pretend), Friday, 29 June 2012 13:16 (fourteen years ago)
Ok so I don't think Steps will actually pull off an upset but you know... (but you never know... O_o)
― Roz, Friday, 29 June 2012 13:18 (fourteen years ago)
And Wownic lost to Queer Eye o_0
