ok to stop pretending to be a random googler for a second now, how the hell did this really random joke end up on some unrelated random website? I'm actually really curious about this.

Allyzay, Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Nice one Ally. ;-) As for the unrelated etc., I suspect the person behind the website lurks here or else this became a meme without our noticing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:36 (twenty-two years ago)

er

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:42 (twenty-two years ago)

The day after it was posted here! Yay!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 16 May 2004 16:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Dear Ornaldo Bloomps - please get out of my head. You are disrupting my peace. Thank you.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 16 May 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Troy = Ornaldo Bloomps upskirt!!!

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Sunday, 16 May 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ok seriously of all the fucking things to make it off ILX as a meme, THIS?

Allyzay, Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It's weirdly mind-sticky though. Two weeks ago I woke up at 6:23am and my first thought was "Ornaldo Bloomps" I groaned and tried to go back to sleep but it was no use... Bloomps Bloomps Bloomps... get out of my head!

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 16 May 2004 19:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, who is Eric Bana anyway besides being in The Hulk? Was he in anything else major before this or did he just sit around and be Australian on Neighbours?

He was in a sketch comedy show called Full Frontal, in which he did a few character parts that really weren't that funny. He then went on to get his own sketch show called Eric, which also wasn't that funny, and lasted about a month. He was also in the iconic low-budget Australian film The Castle.

Autumn Almanac (Autumn Almanac), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

He is hilarious in Chopper. What happened? Now he's the guy you call in when you can't afford Russell Crowe.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

You're right about it being weirdly mind-sticky. I'll never see the man again without calling him "Ornaldo Bloomps" and describe whatever he is doing with a "DAAAAMN" at the end.

Allyzay, Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I like how his hair fits between the background and the text

gabbneb (gabbneb), Sunday, 16 May 2004 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

ornaldo bloomps = the kind of thing you share with even yr non-ILX friends.

when i first saw this thread, friends of mine were in the room as well and have contributed to the spreading of the ornaldo bloomps meme.

I still love this thread very, very much

Matt (Matt), Saturday, 2 October 2004 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

A while ago I saw a t-shirt on which is printed "Mrs. Orlando Bloom." Words cannot express how much I wanted one that reads "Mrs. Ornaldo Bloomps."

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 2 October 2004 22:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you seen that Anna Nicole Simpson commercial for TrimSpa? She's rolling around in the surf with an un-named actor - who is SURELY the great ORNALDO BLOOMPS.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Saturday, 2 October 2004 23:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I've printed out the graphic and put it up at my work desk. I get bemused comments about it on a regular basis. The t-shirt idea sounds essential.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 2 October 2004 23:24 (twenty-one years ago)

So this is where it all started! I must've missed this thread in January.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 3 October 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, my friend, the sweet and wonderful origin of the insanity.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 3 October 2004 15:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I want a T-shirt too! If I can't vote for the US president, at least I can make my views clear for everyone.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 3 October 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

(hi Ned, check your email)

Paul (scifisoul), Sunday, 3 October 2004 15:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I did -- e-mailed back and am trying to call now but it's not letting me dial through. Will send my phone number to all your addresses now, call me back ASAP, at least before 10:30 am.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 3 October 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

The name Orlando Bloom has lost all meaning. Wait...

Kevin Gilchrist (Mr Fusion), Sunday, 3 October 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

this is odd. just last night, we were foolishly talking about reviving this thread, and wow, here it is.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 3 October 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I am unable to pronounce orlando correctly anymore. It always come out "ornaldo".

Allyzay will never stop making pancakes (allyzay), Thursday, 22 June 2006 14:18 (nineteen years ago)

I still can't believe that is Eric Bana and not, like, a young John Goodman.

mummy wrapped in bacon (nickalicious), Thursday, 22 June 2006 15:01 (nineteen years ago)

It seems kind of easy to believe, though.

gbx (skowly), Friday, 23 June 2006 12:59 (nineteen years ago)

Guys I just made my own Bloomps shirt. It's a blue sweatshirt with red lettering so it's very presidential. I should've known there'd be a market in this, I'll work on some merchandising as soon as we get our new computer!

EVERYONE KNOWS THERE IS AN UH SHIRT!!! http://www.zazzle.com/product/235609635764585640
I have the ladies raglan.

Tell you what, on his recent Graham Norton remote appearance he very much came across as a man who'd had a more than cheeky amount of some powders which were very much not green, if you catch my drift.

the beautiful Bloomps is the bucking fastard in Herzog's new movie!

Western® with Bacon Flavor, Friday, 3 October 2025 03:40 (eight months ago)

I thought this was zany Ilxor tomfoolery, but he literally is:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucking_Fastard

It's about "British identical twin sisters Freda and Greta Chaplin, who gained notoriety in the 1980s for having a restraining order put on them by a man they both became involved with". They became obsessed with a truck driver called Ken Iveson, who doesn't look a lot like a Orlando Blöm, but Hollywood has access to computers:
https://historicimages.com/cdn/shop/products/dfpa28135_600x.jpeg

It seems to be very loosely based on their story, just as Frank was loosely based on Frank Sidebottom. It appears they didn't always speak at the same time as each other:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T5_r0sINQQ

Ken Iveson is like the iceberg that hit the Titanic, in the sense that he was the trigger for an extraordinary series of events but then went on his way. The more I read about the twins the more I'm convinced that Britain in the relatively recent past was a foreign country... and yet in the news today there are not one, but two stories about people killing toddlers, so perhaps Britain has not changed.
