our restructure, the alleged imminentness of which barred me from becoming perm in this dept circa March '09, was finally presented to us last week. in the last month, three ppl have resigned, one was given a months-requested voluntary redundancy with literally two days formal notice. because the rest of us did not agree to the new structure at the meeting the day after we were told about it, the remaining four contract ppl [there is also one permanent and one maternity backfill] are getting yet another 3-month contract.

with 18 weeks of leave up my sleeve, this means that I will hit long service and can probably take a year off next year (w/ six mos at half pay).

I'm half expecting to hit 10 years at my job and be told "long service? we dont do that here dont be stupid".

(not sure if legal, but in 4 years ive never had any CPI increases to my pay)

Yeah that blows :( I mean at this stage, i should have been able to celebrate two lots of LSL, but ive never had any, thanks to the IT industry shafting people so comprehensively that ive never worked anywhere longer than 6 years.

lol because of never having spent a full year acting in my actual substantive position (and various HR and managerial dickery), last week I got my first annual in-role increase ever....... and then it turned out they'd lost the year before's paperwork so they had to do a new one with a backdated increase on that too °\^_^/°

Yeah Im not saying its unfair or unusual, its sadly more usual than ever now thanx to contracting and whatnot. N gets a CPI increase every year AND a freaking bonus of several thou. But I wouldnt want to do what he does for a living tbqh.
