Yeah, don't think the three way thing worked very well (though lol at Chris O'Dowd as a Venture Capitalist decrying how shitty it is to move to Williamsburg and be surrounded by jobless kids of rich people).

Adam/Hannah stuff was really great though.

ya it seemed to be everywhere. but i thought his creepy pathetic breakdown was great even if wildly over the top.

three way was sorta meh, adam/hannah is a very familiar very crazy stupid kinda love
it is kinda odd how i always think he's capable of killing her
or peeing on her

intrsting curveball finale: adam kills hannah with a bowling ball, hides body in floorboard, show goes on mostly the same

he'd probably build a replica viking funeral bier and set it afloat on the river for her

I assume vikings did that sort of thing

'Slave to Love' with bird/monkey screeches A+

and they were such spot-on song choices for THAT guy

don't really KNOW that guy? felt like a pastiche/strawman to me.

I don't think anyone did that? He was the romantic lead in one of the biggest comedies of recent years though

i dunno i feel the big lie around tuomas was that he had some kaspar hauser level cultural deprivation rather than an innate sense of timing wrt disclosing his selective ignorances

also Jessa through that whole bar scene was giving me awkward flashbacks to myself stuck in the same role with friends as they were chatted up by random skeevy dudes who thought they were cooler than they are. just abject derision from 'hello' to 'uhhhhhhhh no we're leaving and so is she'

i have seen a summer at grandpa's a while ago....but probably fewer than ten in total

the bar/rug scenes were unnecessarily distended beyond that screenshot i posted which p much summarized everything better than a whole tiresome gervaisian cringe session

Did someone say IT Crowd? Don't worry about most of it but make sure you watch "Gay! The Gay musical" episode. Yes, I need to mention this any time someone brings up that show. It's that funny.

this ep was more traditional-TV than other eps but lots of good, interesting moments anyway
i realized that am watching this show more as a writer than usual, it's just fascinating that way

yeah i feel that. like attention to its tone & continuity, &c. i wonder if it's the knowledge that it's like the auteurial vision of LD. am super impressed w/the plotting between episodes, they're very neatly cohesive as single eps but everything's moved on a lot.

This episode made CO'D seem funny and The Vaccines seem vaguely uplifting - which is some next level televisual alchemy, rilly.

The skeevy guy in the bar was a bit OTT but I liked how they wrote Jessa and Marnie from two opposite poles; Marnie pining for a boyfriend, esp an "important" one and Jessa not wanting anything to do with someone like that. The dude freaking about his rug did crack me up, though.

"Well, maybe you shouldn't invite 20 year old girls so as to wine them up on the floor, then, huh?"

serious lols at Jessa being all "Oh hey there" she thought it was the old dude at the bar that bought them the drinks and then "ugh rly" with the Chris O Dowd reveal.

lol yes. also in being totally bored by the three-way but into kissing marnie.

It all still seems very consequence free and I don't care anything about the individual characters, but I still really like this show which I think is a testament to the quality of the writing and acting.
