xpost Those whirly eggs are amazing! Last week I must have spent an hour playing on one in the name of "babysitting" although I felt very dizzy and sick and couldn't walk in a straight line every time I stepped off it.

A+ cycling pic, though! I rode at May's Cleveland Critical Mass ride next to a dad who was towing a babby, it was very cool.

yeah we've been biking the hell out of our area these days -- it's possible to ride forever w/o being on roads with cars which is nice. my daughter has turned into quite the backseat biker though, she's always critiquing my technique.

Wish we had offroad bike paths like that around more of my town. I'd actually get a bike if that were the case. Sadly around here people regard cyclists as targets to run over.

your paris photo was great, i hope you had a wonderful trip.

The trip to France was extremely pleasant, very civilized, very agreeable. The weather was quite good almost every day. I ate well, saw the originals of dozens of famous paintings, walked a lot, and hadn't a care in the world. But to tell the truth I am even happier when I'm out in uncivilized places like the one above, despite it being about 7 celsius and windy with the threat of rain.

More like what-do-you-feel-like? as another year finishes (i.e., this is your brain on chalk). If any of you have 9-12 year-olds at home, save yourself some money and buy them a box of chalk and a large blackboard instead of electronic gadgetry. The fascination of writing on a chalkboard is boundless for that age group. (Actually, maybe it doesn't hold in a vacuum--you may to purchase a school, too.)

i used to spend lots of time at my 7th grade english class's whiteboard

excited that chalkboards are still a thing -- i was walking around my daughter's future elementary school and they had nothing but wipe boards, which are inferior imo.

Well done to the one nerd kid who wrote all the cursive letters on paper and put them up there!

A few teachers in my school have switched over to whiteboard. I try to use the document camera/LCD as much as possible, but I think I'll stick with the chalkboard for other stuff. (Imagining the Replacements writing a song called "Document Camera": "How do you write 'Have a great summer' on a document camera?/Oh, I hate your document camera...")
