the only exchange i remember really lolling at was:

jenna: i've got it!
tracy: give it to me! it's mine!

miss precious perfect (musically), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't pay much attention but I did lol pretty hard at "As worn by Dame Judi Dench----'s mother!"

^likes black girls (HI DERE), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:26 (seventeen years ago)

no way dudes the funniest part was obviously the aborted montage sequence - "remember when you tried on some outfits and i was like (frowns) but then you tried on others and i was like (thumbs up!)"

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

jenna is amazing

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:29 (seventeen years ago)

The aborted montage was really funny but I was also sad that I didn't get to see a montage of Tracy & Jenna shopping.

Tina Fey's narrative bonsai (I DIED), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

it was a weaker episode but at least it had dr. spacemen - "liz, i believe doctor-patient confidentiality is a two-way street ... i'm cheating on my wife"

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was kind of a strong episode? At least as far as laughs-per-minute goes.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:44 (seventeen years ago)

Laughed all the way through, except for Salma Hayek.

Chris L, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

That'd be pretty interesting to see, especially since those impressions were dubbed in on that episode.

Haven't watched that one in forever, but I still feel surprised not to have noticed this; the "martian COUGAR" I hear in my head is not actually Tracy Morgan's voice.

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:49 (seventeen years ago)

I would be LESS surprised to find out that Selma Hayek was CGI

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:50 (seventeen years ago)

I think she may have had some CGI enhancements.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

I'm pretty sure she was made up by a lonely cartoonist and then magically came to life, a bit like Alicia Silverstone

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

All I know is some script-writer clearly wrote instructions like "Selma shakes her head", "Selma jumps up and down" and "Selma shakes her goddamn boobs, people! Come on!"

Uh, main thing I came away from this episode thinking was a) Tracy is one terrifying damn clown! and b) woah, the music was much better in this episode than before.
Oh, and of course c) is Hayek + Jack angling to become a spinoff? Only the barest of reference to the rest of the show, with that whole Donuts thing.

(must always have a c)

Øystein, Friday, 16 January 2009 20:36 (seventeen years ago)

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — NBC is renewing Tina Fey's "30 Rock" for the 2009-10 season, along with "The Office" and "The Biggest Loser."

ice cr?m, Friday, 16 January 2009 20:39 (seventeen years ago)

Haven't watched that one in forever, but I still feel surprised not to have noticed this; the "martian COUGAR" I hear in my head is not actually Tracy Morgan's voice.

It took me 3-4 viewings to notice it, but whenever Josh is doing the impressions he's either covering his mouth or the sync is ever-so-slightly off.

(I don't think they used Tracy or Alec's voices for the "impressions," though)

Sara Sara Sara, Friday, 16 January 2009 20:42 (seventeen years ago)

They're all Christopher Walken

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

If I've learned anything from The Worst Movie Ever? thread - is that plenty of ilx people's standards are already very high, so going a little lower doesn't really say anything bad about this show.

― ❤ⓛⓞⓥⓔ❤ (CaptainLorax)

lol whatever man.

Accepting the fact that this doesn't come terribly close to "Reunion" or last week's, this episode still isn't the weakest of the season, particularly because the Xmas episode was so inert (lower jokes density on a per minute basis, don't get me started with its lols/min ratio or the more advanced lols/(jokes * min)^2).

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was kind of a strong episode? At least as far as laughs-per-minute goes.

Johnny Fever, I think I agree with you a lot on some things!

tracy, ive got it!
give it to me, it's mine! lolol

xhuxk e deej (k3vin k.), Friday, 16 January 2009 23:27 (seventeen years ago)

Best episode in months! Tracy Morgan was knocking his lines out of the park this episode ("I want to thank you for controlling yourself sexually while we spent time together on this adventure") but Salma Hayek generally has the comedic delivery of Christopher Walken on SNL. "I'd love to go out, get all dressed up, tip maitre Ds and be all like 'thank you Roger, this table was super duper'" was hilarious, however. Then she blows it with the next line straight from a cue card. Michael Bublé's "Mr. Templeton" song was also awesome. And Liz dancing for her shot.

Downside: even I know that flu shots take two weeks to protect against the flu, and only the vaccine administered nasally contains weakened live flu virus.

Without the crew, we'd just be two amazing people succeeding in a vacuum.

Pillboxxx/The Lol Belol (Pillbox), Saturday, 17 January 2009 15:04 (seventeen years ago)

^people overlook jenna when they say "bad episode". she and tracy were in great form

xhuxk e deej (k3vin k.), Saturday, 17 January 2009 15:08 (seventeen years ago)

if you wan the shot, you're going to have to dance for it (I <3 Spaceman)

Pillboxxx/The Lol Belol (Pillbox), Saturday, 17 January 2009 15:13 (seventeen years ago)

I used to want Spaceman in every episode, but now I realize it's even funnier when he's a surprise.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 17 January 2009 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

when you guys type spaceman are you thinking space-man or spa-che-mon

cutty, Saturday, 17 January 2009 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

i cannot think of spaceman EVER without thinking spa-che-min now

I love how Lemon comes into his hotel room with two plates, mentions the buffet and then quickly says "oh yeah, you should go down and get some!"

Nhex, Friday, 23 January 2009 07:21 (seventeen years ago)

I thought it was an awesome episode, maybe my favorite so far this season. Really glad to see the supporting cast (Frank, Toofer, Griz, Dot Com), even though Pete wasn't in it at all.

Jouster, Friday, 23 January 2009 08:04 (seventeen years ago)

Most laffs per episode this season so far, even if their wasn't a line as brilliant as "An Affair to Rememblack." The Tracy/Ken thing was weaker than most similar outings, but it did provide my favorite line of the show:

"N-O-E! No E!"

Sara Sara Sara, Friday, 23 January 2009 14:08 (seventeen years ago)

tracy stuffing veggies in his mouth was funnay
