I get the theme song to this show stuck in my head for days at a time. It's really starting to annoy me.
It plays on a constant loop in my head when I am reading the books.
― I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Saturday, 26 May 2012 01:12 (fourteen years ago)
well that's convinced me to never read the books

The National track is actually pretty nice.
― Simon H., Saturday, 26 May 2012 02:53 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah I really, really wanted to hate it, but it was actually not bad.

would totally buy a comp of self-serious indie bands doing all the big songs from the books. Though I guess there's prob not enough w/ lyrics for more than an EP.
― Clay, Saturday, 26 May 2012 04:13 (fourteen years ago)
Berninger's baritone suits the tone particularly well, imo. I don't think I'd want to hear, say, Of Montreal's take.
― Simon H., Saturday, 26 May 2012 04:23 (fourteen years ago)
I'd hear of Montreal do the "a bear, a bear, a bear" one maybe!
― Clay, Saturday, 26 May 2012 04:48 (fourteen years ago)
ha i was gonna ask who to play the bear and the maiden fair

I think had Cersei killed her kid and herself and were left dead on the throne, it probably wouldn't have felt that way. I guess nobody of note died in that battle (is Stannis still alive, then?), and maybe that's what I was expecting. It seems to have resolved the larger Stannis season arc by, largely, leaving everything "as it was".
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 28 May 2012 03:22 (fourteen years ago)
it thought Tyrion died?!

amaz!also that floppy drive thing is epic.
― Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Monday, 28 May 2012 03:43 (fourteen years ago)
I think we would have seen more of Tyrion actually dying than just that unbelievably brutal slash across the face.
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 28 May 2012 04:02 (fourteen years ago)
Lena Headey dialing up drag queen mode to the max is the best thing about this episode.
― Captain Jean-Luc Godard (Leee), Monday, 28 May 2012 05:07 (fourteen years ago)
Stannis pimp as hell too.
But I am pretty sure that Tyrion doesn't get an arrow to the knee.

I just want to know what happened to Stannis. If that isn't dealt with next week, I'll be pretty annoyed. I'm guessing his second-in-command is alive, and I'm assuming that dude's kid didn't make it out.
I know there were budget constraints and the battle narrowed (which is fine, I think it actually worked really well), but I did get a pretty big thrill out of that green explosion ripping apart the fleet. Well done. Some good Neil Marshall gratuitously violent inserts in the battles as well.
― Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 28 May 2012 05:16 (fourteen years ago)
I am glad to know that I am not in fact a nerd. xp
― Captain Jean-Luc Godard (Leee), Monday, 28 May 2012 05:19 (fourteen years ago)
battle scenes often looked as though executed with a comically small cast, but it was nice to finally see something big and dramatic really happen. even if it did leave things much as they were before. certain tyrion isn't dead. guessing he lost a bit of blood and acquired a nice scar. love dinklage, but man that accent...

Hah, no, I was serious. (I haven't gamed in forever, like, what is this "skyrimming," it sounds like a sex thing, why can't kids play GoldenEye anymore, and everyone playing on PHONES, what's with that.)

blew the money on the cgi for the wildfire, couldn't afford to set anything else on fire probs

I wanted it to end with the sun rising on a widescreen shot of mass carnage, but again cash money.
The wildfire explosion was bitching though.

yeah "let's go kill them" felt weird, i mean if you're going to make everyone English you should have to keep to that shouldn't you?
what's the hound's deal, he loves killing (he cannot stress this enough) but just kind of wandered away from the battle.
