Bill Drummond was behind us in a Stoke Newington pub last nite.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Sunday, 8 May 2005 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I saw Russell Simmons at Atlantic Avenue subway station. I'm not sure how likely it was that it was really him though.

$V£N! (blueski), Sunday, 8 May 2005 16:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I have bummed cigarettes from Carrot Top no less than 5 times. His buddies call him CT.

giboyeux (skowly), Sunday, 8 May 2005 21:51 (twenty-one years ago)

dinner tonight at not-particularly-fancy UES restaurant with parents, Grandma, uncle, and... Tom Brokaw

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 13 May 2005 01:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw Spencer Chow in a fantasee... actually this whole thread topic is redundant if you have the current bitch day-job I do right now and live around here....Mark Hamill came into work yesterday and walked past the dishes I was washing (and said an uncomfortable "haylo" - they put too much make-up on him but thats also bcoz the make-up lady was insane and stole all the complimentary tampons we put out in the bathroom....tampons that I have to buy these days as part of this "gig," mind you) after I had made Lily Tomlin's fruit-plate... I don't care to google-proof these things anymore. For what reason?

I hate chopping fruit...I don't care if it's for Luke Skywalker or %$$% )&*!#@. If you work where I work and you're reading this...yes I mean YOU!!

Vichitravirya XI, Friday, 13 May 2005 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Lily is still pretty fwiw, but Cheri Oteri should really take her sunglasses off when she's _inside._ Hello Ms Oteri, our studios here are not that _bright,_ kay? Also who is John Cleese again? Why does he deserve his own caffee pitcher?

Vichitravirya XI, Friday, 13 May 2005 03:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Ray Davies, in Muswell Hill of all places. In the avant-garde music shop.

Masked Gazza, Friday, 13 May 2005 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I should start a blog solely dedicated to the goings-on of this job, right?

That way I can passive-aggressively be fired ASAP. Would any of you read it?

Vichitravirya XI, Friday, 13 May 2005 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Vic, I would feel honoured and privileged to chop fruit for Lily Tomlin. Not Mark Hamill, though.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 13 May 2005 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Is there any chance Jimmy the Mod can give us an insight into what these celebs were like when he interviewed them?

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 13 May 2005 08:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Sandra Oh with some dude and the bartender from Sideways!

Also, from "Reno 9/11" the guy who plays that one gay cop and the guy who plays Garcia.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Vic I would totally read that blog. It'd be like the Pat O'Brien in rehab one but REAL.

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Gear!, might "some dude" have been Alexander Payne, Oh's husband?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw Sandra Oh outside Eat Well on Saturday!

Also, Tony Alva at the Adidas store last night for some Legends of Dogville or whatever it's called party.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

THEY R SPLIT.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:16 (twenty-one years ago)

GET ONE CELEBRITY GOSSIP.

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:17 (twenty-one years ago)

So they have.

"Oh and Payne's separation follows a string of recent Hollywood splits, which include Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen, Katie Holmes and Chris Klein, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, and Shannon Elizabeth and Joseph Reitman."

Isn't this the most meaningless paragraph ever?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

No, this is:

I saw Molly Shannon outside Chelsea Market yesterday.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

"Payne's seperation follows a string of 50% of American marriages ending in divorce."

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I mean, was there really a RASH of Hollywood couples splitting up? Couldn't you find four couples to say that about at pretty much any time?

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes.

Haha I can't believe I forgot that Yancey talked to James Ellroy while Ellroy was taking a shit. - brushes with greatness (again)

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I THOUGHT it was PAYNE but then a friend told me the same thing, they be split. The dude she was with was about 6'5", a big fella.

Gear! (can Jung shill it, Mu?) (Gear!), Friday, 13 May 2005 16:31 (twenty-one years ago)

weird tracer, upon leaving chelsea market yesterday, about a block away on 15th street i saw Wallace Shawn.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 13 May 2005 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Emma Granger (Herminone off Harry Potter) going to Rufus Wainwright. Saw Rufus too, but that doesn't count cos it was his gig. Sat next to Peter who used to be in Heavenly, but they aren't really that famous anymore. He was at the Jeffrey Lewis gig I went to last night too...

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 14 May 2005 01:07 (twenty-one years ago)

obviously that's Emma Watson and not Granger.. Brain not working...need to get some sleep.

jellybean (jellybean), Saturday, 14 May 2005 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Lucy Liu and Justine Bateman

After this auction thing was over, Lucy drove away in her Toyota Prius. Defamer had her in Beverly Hills a couple of days before, however, in a Range Rover. It's important to have choices.

EComplex (EComplex), Sunday, 22 May 2005 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Paul Morley, yesterday morning, in Archway - OK, more of an ILM "celeb"

Dadaismus (Dada), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I think I saw Mike D this morning in Soho walking around with his morning paper, but I was bending down to release my pant(trouser)leg from my sock, so I didn't clock him properly.

Ken L (Ken L), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 13:12 (twenty-one years ago)

My kids go to the same school as Emma (Hermione) Watson, so we tend to see her quite often.

C J (C J), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 13:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Ralph Nader at lunch last week. He didn't look overly concerned about the safety of his sandwich.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

bobby gillespie, years ago, at a werner herzog film at the nft.

N_RQ, Tuesday, 31 May 2005 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Boris Johnson sighting number 284, entering local sandwich bar BUTTY BOYS.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 13:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I ignore Kelly Osbourne everytime I run into her, it must drive her insane.

I said wassup to Luis Guzman and he was all weird so I considered robbing his ass

LeCoq (LeCoq), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I helped Bobby Gillespie carry his kid in a pushchair down some steps at King's Cross on Friday, although I didn't notice it was him until I looked up past his (cute) kid halfway down.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 14:24 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil (hstencil), Tuesday, 31 May 2005 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

A friend of mine writes:

--

So, there I was, over in our Other Office Round The Corner where I don't normally go, discussing work stuff with one of the engineers, and Geraldine the office cleaner was chattering on about the importance of a healthy diet.

G: I never eat crisps, or junk food, or anything like that.
Me: Mmm-hmm
G: They're very bad for you.
Me: Oh yes.
G: Just ask Shay Healy over there.
Shay Healy: Very bad for you, yes.

I think my brain just refused to deal with it for a second, and I just sat there with a WHAT THE FUCK IS A COMPOSER OF EUROVISION WINNING SONGS DOING SITTING AT A DESK IN THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AND EVERYONE IS ACTING AS IF THIS IS NORMAL expression on my face.

Apparently due to some arrangement with our CEO, he uses one of the desks in the office a couple of days a week. Still deeply bizarre.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 3 June 2005 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

if gary indiana counts as a celebrity, he stopped in to say hi to my boss the other day.

joseph (joseph), Friday, 3 June 2005 16:25 (twenty-one years ago)

It is funny that this thread started with a Keanu sighting in SF, and now I have squared the circle by walking past him in NY the other day. Ah, the endless cosmic joust.

Ally C (Ally C), Friday, 3 June 2005 17:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Neo haunts the footsteps of ilx.

Leon hearts Crazy Frog (Ex Leon), Friday, 3 June 2005 17:38 (twenty-one years ago)

DENNIS NORDEN, no less, rathbone place, friday afternoon...

N_RQ, Monday, 6 June 2005 08:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Sara Cox would appear to live across the road from me, or in my street at the very least

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Monday, 6 June 2005 08:52 (twenty-one years ago)

bobby gillespie, years ago, at a werner herzog film at the nft.

Hey, I sat next to that gimp at a Cecil Taylor concert, but that was probably about 14 years ago. Always a mystery to me how a man of such taste can make so much godawful music. Wish I'd have asked him...

NickB (NickB), Monday, 6 June 2005 09:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It is funny that this thread started with a Keanu sighting in SF, and now I have squared the circle by walking past him in NY the other day. Ah, the endless cosmic joust.

This is highly unfair as I didn't walk past any slebs the whole time I was there (to the best of my knowledge).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Monday, 6 June 2005 09:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw Paul Morely on the tube yesterday, got on at Archway and got off at Euston. Had an unposted letter in his pocket. Not strictly a celebrity, but, well, this is ILx.

Anna (Anna), Monday, 6 June 2005 10:16 (twenty-one years ago)

fucking hell! that's *real* celebrity, and it means he's local. excellent stalker detail too, thx.

N_RQ, Monday, 6 June 2005 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I've sat at a table to Bobby Gillespie in a couple of pubs in my time as well. Once, very drunkenly, me and my pal decided to see how long it would take to piss him off by pointing out his existence at a high volume every few seconds (answer: not very).

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 6 June 2005 15:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes and I saw him at Archway a few weeks back, he must live in the area now. Never mind all that tho, yesterday I saw... RONNIE CORBETT!!!!!!!! Boy, was I excited. The strange thing is he was taller in real life than he appears on screen and it usually works the opposite way.

Vicious Cop Kills Gentle Fool (Dada), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

if gary indiana counts as a celebrity

this might be stretching the defintion. I could imagine him STALKING & MURDERING a celebrity, though

m coleman (lovebug starski), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Some of these are very impressive.

I believe Gillespie Jr is called Wolfman.

I once saw Terry Scott. He was licking an ice cream.

But Ronnie Corbett is very much the man of the moment, so Dadismus is in the lead.

Peter Stringbender (PJ Miller), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 10:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Gillespie Jr. is called Wolf, which was Hitler's nickname
