I had an opinion about this episode, but I forgot it when I saw Salma Hayek's cleavage

Dan I., Friday, 16 January 2009 04:13 (seventeen years ago)

imo some ppls standards are gettin pretty low for this shit

and what, Friday, 16 January 2009 04:14 (seventeen years ago)

i am very pro salma hayek in general but this one was kinda bad.

ryan, Friday, 16 January 2009 04:57 (seventeen years ago)

caek, Friday, 16 January 2009 06:36 (seventeen years ago)

If I've learned anything from The Worst Movie Ever? thread - is that plenty of ilx people's standards are already very high, so going a little lower doesn't really say anything bad about this show.

I think the worst part of this episode was that Jack and Salma Hayek finished the half-hour even more smitten than ever, so she gets to stick around and ruin my favoritest show for at least another week.

Best part was obv Dr. Spaceman lamenting that modern science has yet to come up with a cure for a woman's mouth.

josephcharles, Friday, 16 January 2009 07:10 (seventeen years ago)

most of the jokes fell flat. a few funny spots but really unimpressive overall.

the office was better tonight.

miss precious perfect (musically), Friday, 16 January 2009 07:38 (seventeen years ago)

Right because the Office was just HYSTERICAL wasn't that funny how Michael spoke in a rambling run-on sentence again.

josephcharles, Friday, 16 January 2009 07:57 (seventeen years ago)

i suppose if you disregard all the things that made the office great tonight, it wasn't all that great tonight

miss precious perfect (musically), Friday, 16 January 2009 08:00 (seventeen years ago)

Sorry for disregarding Jim being sackless and throwing cute glances at the camera, disgusting thowaway gags from Meredith, Dwight for being all Nunchaku Bears Beets Fivehead, and everyone else being terrible, will try harder next time.

josephcharles, Friday, 16 January 2009 08:05 (seventeen years ago)

Try harder meaning I may possibly look up from what I am doing more than 3-4 times per episode.

josephcharles, Friday, 16 January 2009 08:06 (seventeen years ago)

meredith's disgusting throwaway gags are one of the reasons i love the office

i'm not going to get in a discussion about the office with you here but those things you mentioned happen so often on the show that they are white noise and certainly are not the things i or anyone else enjoyed

miss precious perfect (musically), Friday, 16 January 2009 08:08 (seventeen years ago)

not as funny as last week but it had the first line of the season that made me pause the TV and have trouble breathing.

BRAINSTORM

dan selzer, Friday, 16 January 2009 13:31 (seventeen years ago)

Salma Hayek's in for four more episodes, she said on Letterman the other night.

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Friday, 16 January 2009 13:46 (seventeen years ago)

yah, weak episode. and the office was really on last night in a way it hasn't been a long while for me. so maybe they have to alternate goodness?

in other news, both the office and 30 rock are renewed! http://www.thrfeed.com/2009/01/nbc-renews-office-30-rock-loser-.html

Gukbe, Friday, 16 January 2009 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

Good to hear.

Dude clearly lives in my neighborhood now, as I have been working through those thousand appearances sitting in adjacent chairs using laptops while somehow NOT going "dude I'll pay for that drink if you just do like two lines of Tracy Morgan impression"

That'd be pretty interesting to see, especially since those impressions were dubbed in on that episode.

Sara Sara Sara, Friday, 16 January 2009 14:47 (seventeen years ago)

i love it when people correct errors in that smarmy way.

Women can be captains too, you know? (jim), Friday, 16 January 2009 14:53 (seventeen years ago)

Jim being sackless and throwing cute glances at the camera.

It would be the best if he never, ever did this again. Last night was the last straw somehow.

or if when he tried to do it the camera quickly panned away

^ yes! send note to relevant staffers

I am a long-time member of the "30 Rock is way better than The Office" club. Last night The Office was better. Jim's second look-to-camera made me want to stab him in the eyeball with Zach Braff's dick, though.

caek, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:13 (seventeen years ago)

the only exchange i remember really lolling at was:

jenna: i've got it!
tracy: give it to me! it's mine!

miss precious perfect (musically), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

I didn't pay much attention but I did lol pretty hard at "As worn by Dame Judi Dench----'s mother!"

no way dudes the funniest part was obviously the aborted montage sequence - "remember when you tried on some outfits and i was like (frowns) but then you tried on others and i was like (thumbs up!)"

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:28 (seventeen years ago)

jenna is amazing

The aborted montage was really funny but I was also sad that I didn't get to see a montage of Tracy & Jenna shopping.

Tina Fey's narrative bonsai (I DIED), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

it was a weaker episode but at least it had dr. spacemen - "liz, i believe doctor-patient confidentiality is a two-way street ... i'm cheating on my wife"

congratulations (n/a), Friday, 16 January 2009 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

I guess I'm the only one who thought it was kind of a strong episode? At least as far as laughs-per-minute goes.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:44 (seventeen years ago)

Laughed all the way through, except for Salma Hayek.

Chris L, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:48 (seventeen years ago)

That'd be pretty interesting to see, especially since those impressions were dubbed in on that episode.

Haven't watched that one in forever, but I still feel surprised not to have noticed this; the "martian COUGAR" I hear in my head is not actually Tracy Morgan's voice.

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:49 (seventeen years ago)

I would be LESS surprised to find out that Selma Hayek was CGI

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:50 (seventeen years ago)

I think she may have had some CGI enhancements.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:51 (seventeen years ago)

I'm pretty sure she was made up by a lonely cartoonist and then magically came to life, a bit like Alicia Silverstone

nabisco, Friday, 16 January 2009 18:53 (seventeen years ago)

All I know is some script-writer clearly wrote instructions like "Selma shakes her head", "Selma jumps up and down" and "Selma shakes her goddamn boobs, people! Come on!"

Uh, main thing I came away from this episode thinking was a) Tracy is one terrifying damn clown! and b) woah, the music was much better in this episode than before.
Oh, and of course c) is Hayek + Jack angling to become a spinoff? Only the barest of reference to the rest of the show, with that whole Donuts thing.

(must always have a c)
