I never thought Betty had much of Don's loyalty or affection unless she was about to die.

Yeah, I love that Sally has worked out that she can finally get her own back on Betty without getting herself into any trouble.

otoh it's kind of sad that she's basically learned how to do this from Betty herself.

That "Are you gonna make yourself cry?" bit with Megan was pretty spot-on Betty, too (amazing how well Kiernan Shipka channels January Jones in those moments).

like Megan's little condescending note to Betty when she found her in the house. What was it? Something like "You've seen everything" or "You've seen enough" or something.

She let herself in and was clearing snooping around to satisfy her curiosity! I think a little condescension is appropriate.

yeah it was an innocuous 'there really isn't much to see' comment about the apt (which in itself might be about megan's insecurity about don's wealth) w/ a heavy undertone of 'go fuck yrself bitch'.

Had she given Betty the full tour, would have made Betty explode with rage later.

this is one of my favorite episodes of the season. the krishnas. don's face during the play. lane's conniving.

roger's amazing shirt.

joan blowing her top. "there's an airplane here to see you. surprise." it just keeps getting better.

Harry actually being a stand-up guy. The wonders of this episode never cease.

So much going on this episode, so many nice moments and slow-moving threads. It all felt very season one (which is a good thing).

A couple slow dissolves between scenes, which is something I don't recall them having done recently.

the whole paul kinsey plotline broke my brain

I never expected to see Kinsey again, so him coming back this was even more of a delight.

I think it's only happened a couple other times, but when Don and Joan are together just being Don and Joan it's one of the best parts of the series.

some really fucked up (not in a good way) cuts in this one, like bad coverage etc.

they keep cutting between different medium shots of pete in a way that's really distracting.

is that samantha mathis?

it occurs to me that christina hendricks is a good actress.

I thought the agency had a car already w/Oldsmobile.

Also: was it wrong to lose my shit everytime they came back to Hare Kinsey?

that subplot was really weird, almost too weird, and too busy--it should have been spread out across a few episodes. does mad men really do little one-episode mini-plots like that often? usually not.

He apparently owes quite a bit in income tax to the British government. Not sure what the role of the guy on the other end of the phone was (accountant? tax mediator?).

Why did Don quote Bobbie Barrett? She's the one who said to him, "I like being bad, and going home and being good."

Thought the scene between Harry and Lakshmi seemed a bit out of place.

It totally did, but I think part of that is because Harry generally has no work scenes. The other part is the lame "I used to be a sex worker, so I'm going to manipulate you the best way I know how" aspect of her whole approach. Whether it was the Krishna thing or what happened with Lakshmi, Harry did the right thing by getting Kinsey out of that situation.

fun episode, joan was the best thing about it. liking all the references to space and sci-fi this season, though i doubt they'll add up to anything.

Loved it, good ep. Joan is the best!

i cant even watch that joan .gif. i get the purpose of that scene & her character's reason for that behavior but it's srsly, deeply horrible

dying at the Kinsey stuff, just great. Redeemed Harry a bit, imho

yeah that poor secretary should sue for emotional abuse. jeez.
