Chris Sutton in his Norwich or Blackburn days probably wouldn't have much trouble either.

He was twice as good at Celtic, fwiw

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Friday, 18 May 2012 15:51 (fourteen years ago)

Where does he think he is gonna go? Is this Spurs' replacement for Ade?

pandemic, Friday, 18 May 2012 15:52 (fourteen years ago)

Rangers put in a bid for him last year *stifles giggles*

Charles Kennedy Jumped Up, He Called 'Oh No'. (Tom D.), Friday, 18 May 2012 15:53 (fourteen years ago)

Haha, 24 hours ago he's hard done by not struttin' with the European elite; now this. How quickly the worm turns.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 18 May 2012 15:55 (fourteen years ago)

Ah, Norwich have rejected his transfer request. Are we sure LFc haven't approached him for a player-manager role?

pandemic, Friday, 18 May 2012 15:56 (fourteen years ago)

either he's playing hardball on a new contract, some mentalist has tapped him up, or he's got himself a job doing quality control at the ginsters factory

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 15:57 (fourteen years ago)

i'm sticking with your og post

tho "some mentalist has tapped him up" is just about within the realms of possibility

pandemic, Friday, 18 May 2012 15:59 (fourteen years ago)

he's moving to anfield as player manager

ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Friday, 18 May 2012 15:59 (fourteen years ago)

shame kenny's gone now, he'd have been right in there

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:03 (fourteen years ago)

Anyone want to have a crack at a current Premiership oafish XI? I mean aside from Carroll and Holt upfront obviously.

(NB Holt has 11 more Prem goals than Carroll this season)

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:05 (fourteen years ago)

off topic, but did defoe really score more league goals than he had league starts this season?

pandemic, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

"A controversial figure in France, with Dijon on the brink of relegation, Renaud is closely associated with Dijon coach Patrice Carteron, but is always available to nurse Drogba using special massage techniques designed to increase circulation and lymphatic drainage while stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles.

This is a form of fasciatherapy known as myofascial release"

HJ?

Rosie 47 (ken c), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:07 (fourteen years ago)

on topic both paul robinson's would make the oafish 11 surely.

pandemic, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:08 (fourteen years ago)

sounds like kagawa's in the bag:

"I am sad that Kagawa will be leaving this summer. Dortmund will lose a player with outstanding technique," Grosskreutz confessed to Sport Bild.

"Nevertheless, every footballer wants to play in the English Premier League at some point and Kagawa must seize this chance.

"We had great times together, both on and off the pitch. We'll keep in contact and who knows - I'm a big fan of England and could join him playing there too one day."

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:15 (fourteen years ago)

Presumably Man U. I hate it when Utd sign players I actually like cf Cantona, Park, Veron. Luckily they don't do it too often.

11 goals 11 starts 14 sub appearances

this is why i think he's good for the england squad

mizzell, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:20 (fourteen years ago)

oh yeah united no question

looks like a great signing to me, how much of an impact do u see him making pandemic?

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

haha:

The 75-year-old said he would not stand in Martinez's way if the Spaniard was to receive an irresistible offer but doubted the attraction of the Liverpool job.

"The club have great supporters, but the place is a morgue, a desolate place, without heart; all I can say is what a shame for their supporters," Whelan told ESPN.

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

Bolton oaf Robinson is: a) no longer a prem player; and b) no longer a Bolton player. Released this morning along with some other no-marks and Klasnic.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

Defoe's been really sharp all season, just hasn't fitted the system we play as a starter, although he should have been starting over Saha.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:25 (fourteen years ago)

i don't think kagawa is the player united need, he plays too far forward, basically in rooney's position.

mizzell, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:27 (fourteen years ago)

big grant hanley a must for the oaf xi

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:30 (fourteen years ago)

I'll sing Holt's praises any day, for what he has achieved at Norwich the last couple of season, but I don't know who would be interested in signing an ageing, overweight striker with 9 months of premier league experience, other that a side just coming up, or just gone down.

CraigG, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:33 (fourteen years ago)

I think Kagawa is good enough that he'll definitely improve Utd, but as mizzell says the position he's been playing for Dortmund doesn't really exist for Utd unless Rooney plays as a #9. Utd predominantly play with 2 out and out wingers I think, I may be wrong, so other than CF that leaves one position available. I assume Welbeck/Rooney will partner up quite a bit so Kagawa may end up being an option rather than a vital component. I know he's at a totally different stage of his career but I hope it doesn't end up like a Littmanen at LFC deal where the player is obviously good enough but the manager can never see a way of fitting him in.
xp

pandemic, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:36 (fourteen years ago)

utd should try to get whatever is left of nuri sahin, that's a single player who could really improve them

mizzell, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:42 (fourteen years ago)

i guess sahin would be the replacement for deep-lying old scholes and kaggie the new nippy young forward scholes

valencia-kagawa-carrick-nani would certainly be a fun return to the late 90s headless chicken days

r|t|c, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:47 (fourteen years ago)

Klasnic better than given credit for. Maybe some sort of relegation clause.

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Friday, 18 May 2012 16:55 (fourteen years ago)

if you give Klasnic that somewhat charitable Defoe 'goals / start' stat he's 20 in 28 for Bolton, not bad.

boxall, Friday, 18 May 2012 16:58 (fourteen years ago)

Klasnic explicitly excluded from no-mark category fyi, that post was impeccably drafted.

Ismael Klata, Friday, 18 May 2012 17:03 (fourteen years ago)

idk im sure i spend more time hating on shitty english football ppl/culture but grant holt is not some carrollingian oaf, steve morison is norwich's lump #9

his movement, reading of the game is very good and his technique surprisingly sound

and why the fuck shouldnt he chase maybe the only lucrative contract he will ever sign? he could probably get 2 yrs at £30k pw out of someone now

navihchkan (nakhchivan), Friday, 18 May 2012 17:10 (fourteen years ago)

I hope it's us tapping him up, and our plan for next season is him and Rickie up front as the least mobile front line in Prem history. Nigel rolling up with that at the Britannia next season, all "There's a quote from Kierkegaard that says SEE YOU AND RAISE YOU MOTHERFUCKER"

William Bloody Swygart, Friday, 18 May 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)

im surprised by how he isn't all that slow, certainly quicker than a 31 yr old viduka or berbatov

navihchkan (nakhchivan), Friday, 18 May 2012 17:32 (fourteen years ago)

finally getting around to last weeks motd and wtf the stoke goal? banging into a keeper WHO HAS THE BALL IN HIS HANDS is fine now?

a hoy hoy, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:16 (fourteen years ago)

ok this whole game is a joke

a hoy hoy, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:17 (fourteen years ago)

I haven't watched motd yet. No spoilers please.

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:24 (fourteen years ago)

a joke indeed, if clint hill hadnt have been robbed of his goal bolton would already have been down by then

r|t|c, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:28 (fourteen years ago)

not that that shameless bitch owen "decisions have cost us" coyle could remember that far back of course

r|t|c, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:30 (fourteen years ago)

Ismael Klata, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:34 (fourteen years ago)

ay i gave it a week's grace, lets have some credit

r|t|c, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:38 (fourteen years ago)

swygart give us the lowdown on saints' to-do list this summer please

r|t|c, Saturday, 19 May 2012 10:42 (fourteen years ago)

xpoat Sadly, Clint's "goal" came from a corner that should never have been given. I find it hard to get worked up about that one.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Saturday, 19 May 2012 12:08 (fourteen years ago)

Ooh, lessee... well, we released Bialkowski today so we need another keeper to give Kelvin competition at the very least (we'd still have needed that even if we'd kept Bialkowski, tho). Not convinced about our full-backs. Another centre-back would be good. Possibly one more striker, though our current options are probably about as good as Norwich's were last season. In fact, yeah, we're probably looking about as good as Norwich did last year. And Adkins has been very solid in the transfer market thus far. We'll probably be in the relegation scrap, but I think a few decent purchases should see us safe.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 19 May 2012 12:32 (fourteen years ago)

Oh, and Solskjaer's officially not interested in the Villa job anymore.

Tony Mowbray's fifth favourite for the West Brom job. Suspect that's not a value bet, that.

William Bloody Swygart, Saturday, 19 May 2012 12:36 (fourteen years ago)

all these motherfuckers itt moaning as if the refereeing scandal of the year wasn't stoke/spurs
