i am usually pretty susceptible to I HATE THIS BECAUSE [EXTERNALITIES] kinds of feelings, so i've been making an effort to not do that w/ this, and it seems to be working because i've happily watched every episode and recommended it to people. i laugh more at it than i laugh at most shows.

^ me too, and that's the only important yardstick for sitcoms

Oh, I am too with certain things and the two I mentioned DEFINITELY are. That's why they came back and sheepishly apologized. It got kind of heated last weekend because I was totally incredulous at their level of hate and dismissal after TEN MINUTES especially coming from a pair with some pretty fucking questionable taste in television.

I can see people hating something that seems to hit close to home, but sometimes it's even easier to hate something that comes close to hitting that mark, but fails on some account. I think in my past I've been very guilty of the latter.

I wish more art "hit close to home," tbh.

This Adam guy, I like him. No idea why. Pharmacy guy looked like the pale weird guy from Twilight. Lovely episode!

feel like any time ive tried to pursue quirky seemingly-mismatched relationships where im also somewhat curious about what a person's deal is, my initial instincts were right & we were in fact mismatched

not saying this doesn't work in this show, but that it contrasts w/ my experiences or something

I was getting so IA with Hannah bcz the whole time she was talking to that coffee girl I was like YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GETTING THAT PRESCRIPTION FOR YOUR MOTHER, YOUNG LADY, QUIT LOLLYGAGGING and then I realized that I am lol old

her mom was in agony for fuck's sake! she shoulda been moving faster!
this ep felt STUPID real to me; i remember the visiting the small town ohmygod what am i even doing here shit

No, you're not. She's pretty awful to her parents a lot of the time in a way that makes me cringe. I mean I know that teenagers go through stuff but at 24 you would think she could stop being a complete bitch to two people who obviously love her a lot.

I think there's some kind of crossover point, or there was for me: in college etc you're just so on your own trip and why is everyone making life so difficult and ugh everything and your parents end up in the firing line of that logic and then, I dunno, somewhere in my late 20's/30's I look back and I'm just like, ugh I can't believe I did those things to my parents.

nothing quite as awful, but you know all that unthinking stuff of you say you're coming home for the weekend and then spend all your time drinking with friends when they had hoped to spend time with you etc

Yeah, I definitely did some of that too but I think I'd mostly outgrown that by 24. Also, she just seems to have a really shitty attitude with them like 90% of the time.
