Anyway, like I said on the other thread, I was actually sad about Schmidt and Cece but it could just be me.

i'm hoping they'll reconcile.

i really came around to this show over the season. i think this last episode was one of the weaker ones, though, but i was glad to see thomas lennon.

Schmidt has overtaken Ron Swanson as the best sitcom character on American television right now.

Woah, let's not lose our heads here.

trishyb, Tuesday, 15 May 2012 22:21 (fourteen years ago)

Well, to be fair, its only because the writing for Ron Swanson has been really lazy for the second half of the most recent P&R season.

schmidt is great though. i thought he was awful in the pilot, but he really grew over the season.

jon otm

they have an ad for the show now that's basically a highlight reel of schmidt-isms, i'm glad fox realizes who the breakout character of the show is

four months pass...

Premiere was funny.

new season killing it. has a real Friends-in-its-prime vibe. the ep with the younger hipsters across the hall killed. and they're handling the inevitable Nick'n'Jess romance subplot well - though I reckon the minute they really Ross'n'Rachel it, this show's dead in the water. But right now, it's my favourite thing on TV.

Ryan's taint is definitely unavoidable. (stevie), Monday, 12 November 2012 13:50 (thirteen years ago)

... corn...

j., Thursday, 22 November 2012 03:46 (thirteen years ago)

Rob Riggle always plays the same guy, doesn't he?

This Is Not An ILX Username (LaMonte), Friday, 23 November 2012 01:39 (thirteen years ago)

pretty much, but it's not like there's a ton of other comedic actors out there filling that niche

some dude, Friday, 23 November 2012 02:34 (thirteen years ago)

maybe there aren't a lot who are actually marine reservists

j., Friday, 23 November 2012 02:44 (thirteen years ago)

disappointed by this ep. situations seemed forced, parents didn't seem 'real', cast not given space to do what they usually do well.

"Hahahaha, nice one, Punchy," I said. (stevie), Friday, 23 November 2012 07:37 (thirteen years ago)

Nothing in this show seems "real", but I still thought this ep was fun. I think that's why I like this show -- it works when it's emo, and it works when it's just a shallow punchline dispenser

Chuck_Tatum, Friday, 23 November 2012 11:57 (thirteen years ago)

^ this. I was pretty lukewarm towards it at first, but it's been consistently good this season. Also, they really need to involve Winston more. Every scene he's in is reliably hilarious.

and I scream Fieri Eiffel Tower High (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 23 November 2012 16:19 (thirteen years ago)

the episode where he had a sympathy period was funny

some dude, Friday, 23 November 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

oh yeah, i was thinking about that episode today and laughing

Winston getting Schmidt to go out searching for crack was so good.

OTM!

EveningStar (Sund4r), Friday, 11 January 2013 02:12 (thirteen years ago)

Everything about that plot line was amazing

The cabin story fizzled for me aside from the absinthe reactions, which were pretty lol

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Friday, 11 January 2013 14:17 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, that was a little boring to me. I don't really care about the relationship drama on this show.

Solange and thanks for all the fish (Nicole), Friday, 11 January 2013 14:18 (thirteen years ago)

found the idea that schmidt would really be that clueless abt Winston kinda far fetched

max, Friday, 11 January 2013 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

my favorite part of that whole sequence (aside from Nick and Cece being "oh hell no" when Schmidt first broached race with them) is when Winston accused Schmidt of thinking Winston smoked crack because he was black and Schmidt saying he thought Winston smoked crack because that's what Winston had just told him

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Friday, 11 January 2013 14:41 (thirteen years ago)

i loved that the drug dealer was just some dude named rob who thought they were trying to rob him

Mordy, Friday, 11 January 2013 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

"I just thought you needed directions!"

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Friday, 11 January 2013 14:47 (thirteen years ago)

yeah it was a great handling of the storyline i wouldve just appreciated like one line explaining why schmidt apparently doesnt know his best friend in the world very well at all

max, Friday, 11 January 2013 14:48 (thirteen years ago)

not saying it wasn't a stretch, but it was funny enough that I didn't really care

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Friday, 11 January 2013 14:51 (thirteen years ago)

(also I thought Nick was Schmidt's best friend in the world? I assume Winston and Nick are closer to each other because they grew up together)

Solange Knowles is my hero (DJP), Friday, 11 January 2013 14:54 (thirteen years ago)

schmidt's description of jewish soul food was also hilarious

Mordy, Friday, 11 January 2013 14:58 (thirteen years ago)

Schmidt as a character is not in touch with reality to the point that it didn't bother. probably one of the best (funniest/not offensive) sitcom plots about race that i've ever seen.

trey songza (some dude), Friday, 11 January 2013 15:18 (thirteen years ago)

Has a sitcom ever had a good cabin story?

trishyb, Friday, 11 January 2013 15:59 (thirteen years ago)

Do the scary stories in the last Community Halloween episode count?

Cheers and Seinfeld both had classic cabin episodes, wtf kinda theory is this that they're inherently bad

Remember when Carlton crashed the rented BMW?

Gukbe, Friday, 11 January 2013 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

three weeks pass...

i got sick this week and caught up with the past season. still kinda embarrassed about it, but i do really enjoy this show

Nhex, Sunday, 3 February 2013 19:48 (thirteen years ago)

get your crap together, india

j., Friday, 8 February 2013 09:58 (thirteen years ago)

i really like this show again. the odd episode disappoints - like the one with rob reiner in it - but any episode with that game they play, true american, is a keeper. also, i'm gonna cast winston as roast beef in my eventual live-action achewood movie project.

SOYLENT GREEN IS SHEEPLE (stevie), Monday, 11 February 2013 23:15 (thirteen years ago)

they showed this on a plane a few weeks ago and while I only laughed at one part I was impressed by how tolerable Zooey's character was

frogbs, Monday, 11 February 2013 23:18 (thirteen years ago)

I love this show.

they all are afflicted with a sickness of existence (Scik Mouthy), Tuesday, 12 February 2013 07:40 (thirteen years ago)

man, schmidt's whole speech about how india had to get its shit together really pissed me off. that whole episode really annoyed me. i'm pretty sure all the guys at that dating thing didn't need douche schmidt to tell them cece was very hot for them to actually realise it and go talk with her.

Jibe, Friday, 15 February 2013 13:04 (thirteen years ago)

i thought that was a little much

Nhex, Friday, 15 February 2013 13:20 (thirteen years ago)

one month passes...

boy some episodes of this seem like they're about ready to collapse

j., Thursday, 21 March 2013 07:49 (thirteen years ago)

if they're taking Jess and Nick through a horrifically destructive relationship this may be a good direction. i doubt it though

Nhex, Friday, 22 March 2013 14:32 (thirteen years ago)

If Jess disappeared the show would instantly be exponentially better.

Simon H., Friday, 22 March 2013 15:08 (thirteen years ago)

they could replace her with another wacky female roommate played by Kristen Schaal

Darth Icky (DJP), Friday, 22 March 2013 15:19 (thirteen years ago)

oh I think I am missing a few episodes then. thx.

Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:40 (eight years ago)

I just checked IMDB, it was just two episodes last week and two tonight for the final four.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:51 (eight years ago)

Yeah, I am in the camp that thinks it should've ended last season. It's fine now but feels like a different show.

Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:55 (eight years ago)

I am trying to remember if there have been outright laughs so far.

Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:56 (eight years ago)

I'm enjoying this season, but mostly because the writers have clearly just decided to let it be completely silly and cut the last remaining tethers to believability, which is fine by me.

Nick and Schmidt's interaction over the mustache was great, also liked the Winston masturbation flashback.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 20:58 (eight years ago)

I had to google what this masturbation flashback was because I may have fallen asleep during that episode.

Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:02 (eight years ago)

The rest of the episode wasn't great, so that's fair, it might just be that college Nick always makes me laugh.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:06 (eight years ago)

I have absolutely no recollection of this. This was the elementary school episode?

Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:07 (eight years ago)

I think so? The B-plot was Nick hiring someone offa craigslist to punch him in the face if he didn't write x number of words and Winston prepping to testify at a trial.

soaring skrrrtpeggios (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:09 (eight years ago)

the show is really stupid and really funny. Winston going on the stand and introducing himself as Winston Pants or whatever, that was great.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:31 (eight years ago)

I have to go back and find this. I had thought they weren't giving Winston enough weird comedy to do this season. I could only recall the thing about his "not dad."

Yerac, Tuesday, 15 May 2018 21:47 (eight years ago)

man, those last few episodes were delightful
i hated the cat funeral ep but evetything after was 👌🏻

i want to play True American so bad, it’s my life’s dream u guys

Squeaky Fromage (VegemiteGrrl), Thursday, 17 May 2018 05:01 (eight years ago)

Bim Adewunmi on Buzzfeed wrote a nice piece abt Winston that I enjoyed

Rob Reiner's "Oh, NOW you can read the room?" was an A+ laugh line for me.

Gonna miss this show. Winston 4-eva.

THERE IS NO PHIL D. THERE IS ONLY LIZ (Phil D.), Thursday, 17 May 2018 10:25 (eight years ago)

Winston was the absolute best character. I would watch a spin off with him.

Yerac, Thursday, 17 May 2018 12:56 (eight years ago)

I am reading the summaries of the episodes from this season. I missed a couple (I really didn't like the first 2 epis) but the wedding episode was great and I am excited about the True American last epi. When I think of New Girl I think of True American and Winston.
