"that's not dribbling, that's running" - Capote on Ben Arfa

cissémanwhore (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

It reminds me more than anything of Maradona's second in THAT match so I take your point.

I must be old, I recognise nobody in ITV2 idents (aldo), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

Good GotS though, refreshing lack of usual suspects/standard order wellyings.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

kudos mencap

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

was thinking more of a Sunday league versh of that one Weah goal

cissémanwhore (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

what now?

kid steel (cajunsunday), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

gorgeously bathetic appearance of venkychicken beneath martial strings

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

i never jest in the football threads

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:07 (fourteen years ago)

by Shearer's logic you would never pick an uncapped player if you could pick a capped one

mind you, I've decided that I would take Carroll

though I think this sounds daft, and he's a lumbering oaf, and I didn't like his handbags session today.

One for post of the season, that.

not jesting but clowning

Norwich win - report all about Villa
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/13/norwich-city-aston-villa-premier-league

--- "That was an unacceptable performance in Aston Villa colours and I have to change that, and there will be change," said McLeish

- but this is the team he has been coaching all season

the pinefox, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

Carroll has to go to the Euros, I don't know why it's even a debate. Well, I do really.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

barton bringing content atm

nakhchivan, Monday, 14 May 2012 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

just got back from the pub and i've only skimmed the thread but petty, petty stuff from Local Garda. Well done City. Quite a day

Number None, Monday, 14 May 2012 00:05 (fourteen years ago)

be fair, closest lfc fans come to league glory is utd not winning it iirc

A+

CHAMP1-6NS (a hoy hoy), Monday, 14 May 2012 03:12 (fourteen years ago)

Carroll has been shocking all season and shouldn't be anywhere near the Euros. Ricky Lambert deserves it 10 times more than the former cornrowwed oaf.

CHAMP1-6NS (a hoy hoy), Monday, 14 May 2012 03:14 (fourteen years ago)

So, did Dalglish deliver the module or not?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 05:55 (fourteen years ago)

Why would you take Carroll when you could take Grant Holt, who I don't rate that much but he's been a much better oafish big man all season?

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 14 May 2012 07:53 (fourteen years ago)

Hopefully this title victory will mean everyone can stop thinking of City as plucky underdogs and start hating them as the slave state oil spunk they actually are. At least the fans have stopped wearing tea towels on their heads.

Shame as I really like Aguero, Silva, Yaya, Kompany et al. But I still haven't forgiven Balotelli for that stamp against Spurs.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 14 May 2012 08:07 (fourteen years ago)

if dalglish claims that's a decent season will he be guilty of trying to lower expectations etc like hodgson apparently was?

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 08:37 (fourteen years ago)

Spent y'day in the pub, was a treat catching up on this thread. Good game lads.

Djibril Citté (onimo), Monday, 14 May 2012 08:51 (fourteen years ago)

Not to pile on unnecessarily here, but at least Souness's LFC in '92 finished closer to champions Leeds than they did to the relegation zone. Dalglish's side have just finished 16pts clear of the drop zone but 17pts short of the top four. With the worst Anfield record since 1949 and the fewest league goals since 1971. And yet...they seem to create huge quantities of chances. And, y'know, play good sides off the park.

Michael Jones, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:05 (fourteen years ago)

Downing apparently doesn't create chances, if he has 'no assists' all season.

the pinefox, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:28 (fourteen years ago)

So what...does he do, exactly? Perhaps he assists the assisters. He's more of an enabler.

Michael Jones, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:31 (fourteen years ago)

Downing creates lots of chances but gets all the zero assists zings because other players waste those chances. It would be interesting to see how many downing passes/crosses led to shots that were saved/off target - might give some indication of why he's still in the team.

Djibril Citté (onimo), Monday, 14 May 2012 09:33 (fourteen years ago)

a youtube of his crosses, were it to have a theme song, would be matched perfectly to the title & bewildered pathos of mccartney's 'for no-one'

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 09:34 (fourteen years ago)

hahaha, that must happen

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:34 (fourteen years ago)

In many ways his job is to create a 'space' in which people (key skill colleagues, touchline managers, assistance delivery teams) can flourish by using their talents in a team setting that emphasizes diversity and togetherness.

the pinefox, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:35 (fourteen years ago)

bale and modric spent a long time in that spiritual desert while supplying crouch- their 'chances created' opta stats were amongst the highest in the league.

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 09:37 (fourteen years ago)

a team setting that emphasizes diversity?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:39 (fourteen years ago)

suarez is from south america

Rosie 47 (ken c), Monday, 14 May 2012 09:41 (fourteen years ago)

i dint want to say nuffink tbh

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 09:44 (fourteen years ago)

Anyway I've long fancied trying to snap up Adam Johnson, he'd be worth a shot where Downing, Kuyt and Bellamy have been hitherto. I doubt City will be letting anyone else go who we could use.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:49 (fourteen years ago)

and togetherness.

the pinefox, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:50 (fourteen years ago)

19 hrs behind everyone else and having managed to remain blissfully ignorant of y'days doings, have this morning caught up.

Blimey.

pandemic, Monday, 14 May 2012 10:14 (fourteen years ago)

Not sure which was worse, Joey Barton or Marton Fulup.

At least I can watch the CL Final safe in the knowledge that a Bayern defeat whilst disappointing would have a silver lining attached.

pandemic, Monday, 14 May 2012 10:15 (fourteen years ago)

What silver lining would that be?

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:18 (fourteen years ago)

ya u fucker

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:22 (fourteen years ago)

Chelsea are rich anyway whether they have CL money or not. Spurs not making CL may perhaps have an effect on their revenue and mean the team is weakened or that the quality of new signings they could attract be poorer. This would be good for lfc, though seeing as we were 20 odd points behind Spurs this is clutching at straws. Still, clutch I will.

pandemic, Monday, 14 May 2012 10:27 (fourteen years ago)

ah stop man stop, we've nothing to do with the likes of you no more be off and bother the fulhams, the evertons

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:34 (fourteen years ago)

get off my lawn with your boombox, my daughter is with someone better now

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:35 (fourteen years ago)

we've switched to vodafone, the coverage is better, could you please take us off the database

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:36 (fourteen years ago)

Hahaha. It really needs no more justification than 'because lol', everyone would understand.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 10:47 (fourteen years ago)

I actually thought Pandemic was a Spurs fan, which explains my confusion.

Deutschland Deutschland uber alles anyway.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:48 (fourteen years ago)

If Chelsea win it'd be a fucking disgrace

Rosie 47 (ken c), Monday, 14 May 2012 10:50 (fourteen years ago)

All those years of unnoticed brotherhood that pandemic's just pissed up the wall

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 10:51 (fourteen years ago)

damn, if I'd realised that my affiliations were unknown I'd have claimed to be City thru and thru
44 years y'know *tearful gulp*

pandemic, Monday, 14 May 2012 10:53 (fourteen years ago)

Still only 20 years to go eh?
