Wigan won't win the Premiership 2012/13

PSOD (Ste), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

(well pleased for Wigan and Martinez but if they send us down next season I will never forgive them)

xp - If Martinez didn't want to be Villa manager last summer, why on Earth would he want to be now?

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

Swansea vs Liverpool

the pinefox, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:47 (fourteen years ago)

cuz expectations are so much lower at villa now

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:48 (fourteen years ago)

kid steel (cajunsunday), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

nice scuffle between carroll and williams.

Merdeyeux, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

That afters with Carroll and Williams was quite hilarious.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:49 (fourteen years ago)

wao, carroll's perfectly-executed overhead kick.

Merdeyeux, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

the package at villa likely to be much improved i'd say, along with lower expectations, and i think wigan won't get any better than scraped miracle survival, there's nowhere to take them from here.

maybe somewhere else, tbf, but lfc isn't going to happen and i can't right now think what other jobs btwn are gonna come up

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

why has Carroll not been dismissed?

the pinefox, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

andy carroll will be immense next season

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:50 (fourteen years ago)

kuddly kenny equalling sounesses marquee eighth place finish in 92

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:51 (fourteen years ago)

Tales filtering through of numerous City fans who left the ground, some in tears, before the injury time turnaround. I seem to remember reading about a Liverpool fan who left in disgust at half-time when they were 3-0 down against Milan. And George Best missed injury time in 1999 in Barcelona. It must feel weird to be one of these people - the moment of incomparable joy that will never be matched, that everyone will take about forever, and your own recollection of it is one of miserable ignorance.

RIGHT - COMPLAINING ABOUT GOAL OF THE SEASON TIME!

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:55 (fourteen years ago)

coruscating liverpool analysis from hansen there

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:56 (fourteen years ago)

Crouch had better England record than Grant Holt, so he will always be ahead of him. Thanks for that Alan.

I must be old, I recognise nobody in ITV2 idents (aldo), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:57 (fourteen years ago)

I'm watching recorded MOTD about 25 minutes behind reality. Was there some kind of 'comedy' hairstyle thing going on at Spurs, or just coincidental decisions?

Pacific Trash Vortex (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

It's Ben Arfa's though, isn't it?

I must be old, I recognise nobody in ITV2 idents (aldo), Sunday, 13 May 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

Eh, Ben Arfa's was against Bolton, though, which is the equivalent of scoring that goal on 2-star level on Pro Evo.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:00 (fourteen years ago)

grotty bombastic montage

cissémanwhore (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:03 (fourteen years ago)

It reminds me more than anything of Maradona's second in THAT match so I take your point.

Good GotS though, refreshing lack of usual suspects/standard order wellyings.

William Bloody Swygart, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

kudos mencap

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:04 (fourteen years ago)

was thinking more of a Sunday league versh of that one Weah goal

cissémanwhore (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

what now?

kid steel (cajunsunday), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

gorgeously bathetic appearance of venkychicken beneath martial strings

nakhchivan, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:05 (fourteen years ago)

i never jest in the football threads

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:07 (fourteen years ago)

by Shearer's logic you would never pick an uncapped player if you could pick a capped one

mind you, I've decided that I would take Carroll

though I think this sounds daft, and he's a lumbering oaf, and I didn't like his handbags session today.

the pinefox, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:08 (fourteen years ago)

"that's not dribbling, that's running" - Capote on Ben Arfa

One for post of the season, that.

not jesting but clowning

Norwich win - report all about Villa
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/may/13/norwich-city-aston-villa-premier-league

--- "That was an unacceptable performance in Aston Villa colours and I have to change that, and there will be change," said McLeish

- but this is the team he has been coaching all season

the pinefox, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

Carroll has to go to the Euros, I don't know why it's even a debate. Well, I do really.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 13 May 2012 23:09 (fourteen years ago)

barton bringing content atm

nakhchivan, Monday, 14 May 2012 00:04 (fourteen years ago)

just got back from the pub and i've only skimmed the thread but petty, petty stuff from Local Garda. Well done City. Quite a day

Number None, Monday, 14 May 2012 00:05 (fourteen years ago)

be fair, closest lfc fans come to league glory is utd not winning it iirc

CHAMP1-6NS (a hoy hoy), Monday, 14 May 2012 03:12 (fourteen years ago)

Carroll has been shocking all season and shouldn't be anywhere near the Euros. Ricky Lambert deserves it 10 times more than the former cornrowwed oaf.

CHAMP1-6NS (a hoy hoy), Monday, 14 May 2012 03:14 (fourteen years ago)

So, did Dalglish deliver the module or not?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 14 May 2012 05:55 (fourteen years ago)

Why would you take Carroll when you could take Grant Holt, who I don't rate that much but he's been a much better oafish big man all season?

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 14 May 2012 07:53 (fourteen years ago)

Hopefully this title victory will mean everyone can stop thinking of City as plucky underdogs and start hating them as the slave state oil spunk they actually are. At least the fans have stopped wearing tea towels on their heads.

Shame as I really like Aguero, Silva, Yaya, Kompany et al. But I still haven't forgiven Balotelli for that stamp against Spurs.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 14 May 2012 08:07 (fourteen years ago)

if dalglish claims that's a decent season will he be guilty of trying to lower expectations etc like hodgson apparently was?

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Monday, 14 May 2012 08:37 (fourteen years ago)

Spent y'day in the pub, was a treat catching up on this thread. Good game lads.

Djibril Citté (onimo), Monday, 14 May 2012 08:51 (fourteen years ago)

Not to pile on unnecessarily here, but at least Souness's LFC in '92 finished closer to champions Leeds than they did to the relegation zone. Dalglish's side have just finished 16pts clear of the drop zone but 17pts short of the top four. With the worst Anfield record since 1949 and the fewest league goals since 1971. And yet...they seem to create huge quantities of chances. And, y'know, play good sides off the park.

Michael Jones, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:05 (fourteen years ago)

Downing apparently doesn't create chances, if he has 'no assists' all season.

the pinefox, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:28 (fourteen years ago)

So what...does he do, exactly? Perhaps he assists the assisters. He's more of an enabler.

Michael Jones, Monday, 14 May 2012 09:31 (fourteen years ago)
