and maybe the financial rewards compensate a little bit for the bad people booing you because you're a clueless cunt

"I didn't really care about Blackburn. For me they were just another football club. I felt no special affinity towards them. I viewed them as another club my team (Arsenal) had to beat to reach the top four," Swaroop Swaminathan, a student at Newcastle University, in England, told Reuters.

Abhishek Iyer, a third year student at a premier engineering institute in Rajasthan was equally dismissive. "I don't care about them - didn't like them as a team much and (having) Indian owners don't change that. Reasonably satisfied they're gone," he said.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) Vice President Subrata Dutta echoed a similar sentiment. "Venky's has not invested in Indian football... Apart from one exhibition match between Pune FC and the club, Blackburn Rovers has in no way contributed for Indian football. So we are not bothered about their relegation," Dutta told Reuters by phone.

he forgot that chicken advert

like Joe Pasquale and Gandhi (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 09:51 (fourteen years ago)

it's impossible to forget that chicken advert

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 09:58 (fourteen years ago)

think that narrative's always been there hasnt it? insofar as the "football person" old boys club has free reign to close ranks, and even if the beeb did have editorial control to exert it's easier pissing off the faceless taxpayer than the twats they have to fawningly interview every week

often wonder if fergie's very worst legacy is his one fluke example of rome not being built in a day being inanely parroted in defence of the clueless forevermore

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:06 (fourteen years ago)

generally speaking it just irks me rotten that the media and most punters and going to be like "there goes everton's pipe dream for another year" when they had a great - maybe never better - shot of winning it

it's the same condescending bullshit that sneers whenever blackburn or wolves fans want rid of the clowns in charge cos they should all just be happy existing in the league playing dogshit football, who do these fans think they are with their lofty pretensions

yes i remember that post it is OTM

like Joe Pasquale and Gandhi (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:09 (fourteen years ago)

kind of brings me back to something i was thinking watching that qpr documentary the other month where the emphasis of derision was always placed on briatore firing rather than for his hiring

at some point he says "we've hired every idiot in the world" and he was right, each and every one of those clowns wouldnt have gotten success with us if they were left in charge for a thousand years and - maybe magilton apart - the fans knew that within three games if not sooner

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:12 (fourteen years ago)

the main thing kean defenders seem to wilfully overlook (or just not care enough to have ever thought about) is blackburn's squad was fairly capable, certainly good enough to have stayed up in this year's donkey derby

it's literally probably as simple as "beat man u once and get a years free media love no questions asked"

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:21 (fourteen years ago)

nah blackburn's squad isn't fairly capable imo. Of course there are at least 6 times with shite squads as well.

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:23 (fourteen years ago)

The irony of that victory at Utd likely costing them £2m in transfer fees while not being enough to keep them up is one I find pleasing.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:26 (fourteen years ago)

Blackburn playing a part in possibly denying Utd the title means Kean is alright by me.

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:28 (fourteen years ago)

tbf anyone that prevented utd from scoring more goals against them than they did, will have possibly played a part in denying them the title. so yeah, i'm with darragh and nakhchivan.

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 10:31 (fourteen years ago)

Killed the prem thread. Soz.

Upt0eleven, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:10 (fourteen years ago)

It's cool, I'm just glad the season's over tbh.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:18 (fourteen years ago)

i can't tell what yr sayin there n1ck? ABU or not?

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:28 (fourteen years ago)

the blackburn squad is better than wolves, wigan, bolton, qpr (averaging their squad pre/post jan), norwich, probably west brom too

yakubu is way better than any striker relegated in recent years, 16 gd goals
hoilett who they will now lose on a free is pretty damn good
nzonzi will probably be picked up for £7m or so, there aren't many better midfielders of his age around
pedersen is a useful epl winger who provides excellent setpiece delivery for a team like west brom
solid midtablish players like dunn, givet, olsson, vukcevic
dann and pobinson but they are probably on £30/40k a week for being terrible, they spent £6.5m on the former

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:52 (fourteen years ago)

lol /for a team like BLACKBURN/

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:52 (fourteen years ago)

they also got the best part of £30m for jones and samba

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:53 (fourteen years ago)

fyi there are loads of better midfielders than nzonzi who are of similar age, dude's not 16

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:56 (fourteen years ago)

there's loads worse weren't relegated

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:58 (fourteen years ago)

no there aren't, he's 23, there is hardly anyone outside of a top club already....rodwell, james mccarthy

obv im referring to the epl here, and its specific requirements that mean an athletic 6'4 allround midfielder with decent skills

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 11:59 (fourteen years ago)

-is always going to attract interest

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:00 (fourteen years ago)

arsenal need him already

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:02 (fourteen years ago)

eh those epl specific requirements still arent all that rare if you bother to look hard enough and take a period of acclimatisation into account i reckon

nancy seemed fairly happy to let samba diakite go and he'll easily be twice the player nzonzi is once we figure out the right cocktail of tranquilisers to give him

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:13 (fourteen years ago)

diakite is just a hack, n'zonzi actually has a bit of composure and passing range

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:16 (fourteen years ago)

this isn't to say he is all that good but he is certainly better than shite like pratley, henry, derry etc

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:18 (fourteen years ago)

i agree nzonzi is pretty good but only in the prem goldfish bowl would his performances to date mark him out as a £7m big deal

u rong about diakite though - exceptional talent on the ball going off on devastating mad slalom runs, exceptionally violent even as a hack

bit like a not-pointless abou diaby i spose

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:29 (fourteen years ago)

i will defer to your greater wisdom and await his emergence as the abel ferrara of west ham's europe leage chasing 12/13 midfield

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:31 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, Diakité's no hack. Exceptional with the ball - not just running with it, but great at creating space for himself, too. He can tackle, I think, and is gradually learning that it's not a good idea to remove your opponent's leg just below the knee.

Manfred Mann meets Man Parrish (ithappens), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:33 (fourteen years ago)

more conventially speaking west brom's mulumbu i'd rate higher than the zonz fwiw

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:34 (fourteen years ago)

epl goldfish bowl is def a thing -- but so many managers like pulis, allardyce, o'neill etc will pay for epl acclimatized and proven n'zonzi over say someone out of serie a who has the potential to be twenty times better but might not enjoy the full fiddy worshipping, hollyoaks extra roasting, acl rupturing epl experience

nakhchivan, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:35 (fourteen years ago)

Speaking of which, I'm guessing Aquilani's absence from the Milan derby means he's heading back to Liverpool next year?

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:37 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, he's 6 or so appearances short of triggering the automatic buy clause i think

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:49 (fourteen years ago)

He was actually really good first half of the season until he got injured (again)

pandemic, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:50 (fourteen years ago)

He might well see out his five-year contract with Liverpool.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:54 (fourteen years ago)

'with'

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 12:58 (fourteen years ago)

lolll did a blackburn fan really run on the pitch yesterday during the last home game of the season with relegation p much a formality and throw his season ticket at kean? classic

r|t|c, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 14:05 (fourteen years ago)

even better he threw it at the wrong dugout according to 5live

zappi, Tuesday, 8 May 2012 14:24 (fourteen years ago)

with that info i wonder if it wasn't formica tbh

pet tommy & the barkhaters (darraghmac), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 14:26 (fourteen years ago)
