the burt macklin pie recreation is at least top 5 scene this season

I am glad you said so, because I was feeling a little silly at how hard I laughed at that.

sockless in moccasins (jaymc), Monday, 7 May 2012 21:20 (fourteen years ago)

I was convinced that the discovery at the end would be that it was April aiming for Jerry. That woulda been funny too.

So next season we get Andy the cop! And Ben leaves the show so Adam can be a movie star?

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Friday, 11 May 2012 06:30 (fourteen years ago)

jean-ralphio's cameo was total fan-service, but since i'm a fan i LOVED IT

the minister of RAILWAYS (reddening), Friday, 11 May 2012 07:33 (fourteen years ago)

It just made me think of his job interview walk-through, which is probably my lol highlight of the season.

Nhex, Saturday, 12 May 2012 04:44 (fourteen years ago)

I really love Leslie Knope. It is silly to say but she's like my personal role model.

Dale, dale, dale (Abbbottt), Sunday, 13 May 2012 02:10 (fourteen years ago)

Silly because she's too wonderful??

I cried... and then I cuddled with my care bear and arranged flowers because I'm a WOMAN.

No but really I did cry. Good stuff.

phantompenguin, Sunday, 13 May 2012 03:56 (fourteen years ago)

i totally cried. she's brilliant.

Today's Variety has an article written in character by Poehler called The Audacity of Knope.

one month passes...

http://www.avclub.com/articles/nick-offerman-on-parks-and-recreation-kabuki-and-f,82589/

As Swanson, Offerman is both father figure and anchor of the show, providing a stern, deadpan center in the eye of the craziness, as well as the rare TV depiction of masculinity that’s funny without being tied to tired chauvinistic stereotypes.

um

PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 15:48 (thirteen years ago)

ha what? There was a whole episode where he had a boys-only survivalist club. Like I know it would be tedious to list reasons why that's silly but I had to say just one.

Team Safeword (Abbbottt), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

it would be more accurate to say he humanizes tired chauvinistic stereotypes and (for many) makes them endearing

PITILESS LIVE SHOW (DJP), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

That NSFW headshot of him with a foam rubber Tetsuo cock is priceless

Team Safeword (Abbbottt), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 16:03 (thirteen years ago)

I think maybe the writer thinks that "chauvinistic stereotypes" only refers to like open sexual harrassment ala Mad Men or something.

Have we so soon forgotten Home Improvement?

Team Safeword (Abbbottt), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 16:05 (thirteen years ago)

not soon enough

Offerman's announcing the Emmy nominations tomorrow morning -- hope he gets to read some good news for himself and the show. Seems like his failure to score a nomination last year was seen as one of the bigger "snubs," so maybe Emmy voters will want to avoid similar accusations this year. The Peabody Award might also convince some people who'd previously ignored P&R that it's a show worth paying attention to.

Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Wednesday, 18 July 2012 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

oh god abbottt whyyyyyyy did you post that picture

Nhex, Thursday, 19 July 2012 01:02 (thirteen years ago)

Because it is cracking me up, still! Here's the story about it from the link DJP posted:

It’s funny, the flipside to that is, once I got into the business, immediately in Chicago—when I met with agents and people taking headshots and all that—they immediately started to categorize me and tell me what I was. When I first met with agents, they said, “Okay, you’re going to play plumbers and mechanics and bus drivers and farmers. Go.” And I was like, “Man… Fuck you. I can play anything, you son of a bitch!”

My response to that was to get this three-quarter headshot—like, knees to head—with this huge foam latex cock about the size of my forearm and fist that I’d made for a play. I got a headshot taken with this thing hanging out of my fly and just looking defiantly at the camera. I sent it to everybody in town. [Laughs.] That was my response to being told I was gonna be playing bus drivers: “Oh yeah? Have you seen my dick?” And wonderfully, two people in town got it and thought it was really funny, and they put me in plays in their theaters.

I’m gonna go see if I can find this photograph. One of the good things is, I’m super-young. I’m like 22 or 23 in this photo. I’ll be interested to get [my publicist’s] opinion on publishing a photo of me with a huge cock sticking out of my pants, but I believe I’m all for it. [Laughs.]

Team Safeword (Abbbottt), Thursday, 19 July 2012 01:07 (thirteen years ago)

that was a pretty good interview. i'm horrified and dying at that picture

Nhex, Thursday, 19 July 2012 02:03 (thirteen years ago)

It amuses me that his DIY craftsmanship extends to making body terror penis props.

<3 that photo

P&R shut out of the main Emmy nominations again w/the exception of Poehler.

Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:15 (thirteen years ago)

Two writing nominations, though, and one for the "April and Andy's Road Trip" webisode.

Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:21 (thirteen years ago)

"shut out" is a pretty absolute term, should prob not be used when there are exceptions

Barack 2 Chainz Obama (some dude), Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:31 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah, true. But no noms for comedy series or for Offerman is disappointing.

Never translate Dutch (jaymc), Thursday, 19 July 2012 13:39 (thirteen years ago)
