ooooiiiioooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaoooooh un - bi - leevable! (LocalGarda), Monday, 7 May 2012 00:57 (fourteen years ago)

shearer said something improbably glib and stupid along the lines of mcleish only being unpopular with villa fans because he came from their city rivals.

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 00:58 (fourteen years ago)

apparently his granny father is ill

Number None, Monday, 7 May 2012 14:42 (fourteen years ago)

lol, wrong thread

Number None, Monday, 7 May 2012 14:43 (fourteen years ago)

Crouch has won 141 aerial duels this season, the most in the Premier League – helped by Stoke's insistence on hitting long balls towards him. Yet just behind is Carroll on 140

Amazed by everything in this quote tbh, except the bit about Stoke playing long balls.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 18:18 (fourteen years ago)

Carroll hasn't really been on the field that much this year - it's the route one equivalent of Lucas still leading the tackling stats.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 18:35 (fourteen years ago)

a lot of them just skim off his head to nowhere anyway

Number None, Monday, 7 May 2012 18:36 (fourteen years ago)

absolutely fuckin exact-ly, NN- if you beat a defender to a ball to flick it nowhere, you've 'won' nothing

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 18:39 (fourteen years ago)

Rome wasn't built in a day, lads. Ten shrewd signings this summer and who knows?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 18:47 (fourteen years ago)

Venky's chicken on the field at Ewood.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 19:09 (fourteen years ago)

This is so poor from Rovers. The chicken is the only one who's shown a bit of spark.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 19:28 (fourteen years ago)

All over, late winner for Wigan

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 20:49 (fourteen years ago)

Aston Villa 37 7 17 13 -14 38
QPR 37 10 7 20 -22 37
Bolton 37 10 5 22 -31 35

who have bolton got at the weekend and can they throw the game 18-0?

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Monday, 7 May 2012 21:12 (fourteen years ago)

sadly, it's Stoke

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 21:16 (fourteen years ago)

In order for Bolton to stay up, they have to be beat Stoke and Man City have to beat QPR. Villa safe.

Fas Ro Duh (Gukbe), Monday, 7 May 2012 21:17 (fourteen years ago)

While I wouldn't really miss Wigan if they went down, I'm pleased that they're staying up this time: the results they've got over the last few weeks have been incredible. I won't miss Blackburn.

Pacific Trash Vortex (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 7 May 2012 21:17 (fourteen years ago)

QPR beat Man City, Utd beat Sunderland, Bolton win 5-0 at Stoke, Villa lose 13-0 at Norwich, everybody's happy, no?

Pacific Trash Vortex (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 7 May 2012 21:20 (fourteen years ago)

Sunderland fans might be mildly annoyed I suppose

Ismael Klata, Monday, 7 May 2012 21:21 (fourteen years ago)

really pleased for the james gang that Wigan stayed up, but i feel really sorry for steve kean. He has not deserved the vile abuse he has had all season.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 7 May 2012 21:29 (fourteen years ago)

hes a cunt

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 21:30 (fourteen years ago)

got fat sam sacked (i know but still its bad form) and got £1m a year for being maybe the worst full season manager in epl history

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 21:31 (fourteen years ago)

v pleased for wigan tho

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 21:32 (fourteen years ago)

kean has had the option of leaving his post any time he chooses. he's not qualified to fill it, and the fans of the club- who will be there long after kean is second in command at preston or wherever- know that he's not qualified to fill it. he's being well paid to do nothing more than serve as a buffer between the fans and the running joke that is the venky's consortium. he's certainly not earning a penny honestly under any other heading.

let him fuck off.

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 22:07 (fourteen years ago)

want villa to stay up and mcleish to get sacked. wigan meh tbh but martinez at villa would be interesting- he, dimatteo or hughton, maybe

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 22:10 (fourteen years ago)

Martinez was interviewed for the Villa post before Eck... and turned it down to stay at Wigan. Who might now finish above Villa. Which just seems weird.

William Bloody Swygart, Monday, 7 May 2012 23:10 (fourteen years ago)

yeah id guess lerner isnt the type to let pride fuck with him, and martinez has a clear remit to throw a lot of shit out of the window and maybe buy some more

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 23:13 (fourteen years ago)

Robbie Savage Former Blackburn midfielder

"Why would you want to stay if you were Steve Kean? Yes, it is a fantastic club, but why with the owners in charge and with the hatred towards you would you want to stay? I don't know what could be going through his mind."

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 23:14 (fourteen years ago)

the price of discount vodka

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 23:16 (fourteen years ago)

yeah looks like he must get thru 4 or 5 bottles of spirits a week, hopefully his wage affords better than asda value vodka but u wouldnt trust him to tell the difference between paintstripper and ardbeg 25

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 23:22 (fourteen years ago)

he thought he had it sussed but then he saw mark hughes walking past ewood with a bottle of tesco own-brand scotch. the easy confidence of the welsh swayze's gait & his obvious delight with the purchase caused kean to immediately question everything he ever thought he'd known about football, life and getting fucked to the eyeballs for under a tenner.

hughes threw the vodka in the nearest bin, rang kia joorabchian and said two words into the phone- it worked

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 23:27 (fourteen years ago)

it was either vodka or scotch- at that price you can't tell the difference, at that price you're very unlikely to care

underleg aeroboots i have smithed (darraghmac), Monday, 7 May 2012 23:29 (fourteen years ago)

especially not if hes been reading the daily mail and heard how to increase the high by absorbing grain alcohol thru his scarified corneas

nakhchivan, Monday, 7 May 2012 23:32 (fourteen years ago)

when did the BBC's narrative turn into "nasty fans being mean to poor ineffectual managers who can't help being shite"? can we trace it back directly to Shearer's comedy holiday at Newcastle?

like Joe Pasquale and Gandhi (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 8 May 2012 07:56 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, if he was just shite and they went down that's all the beeb would be saying. But because he's shite and every fan hates him, there's a weird vibe to all their articles where we should feel sorry for him, rather than the thousands of fans who just watched their team get dumped out of the premier league.

Also, many xposts: I'd be pretty happy with the hypothetical scenario of Norwich humping Villa 13-0, irrespective of who it helps get safety.
