Yeah, got my cert on Tuesday (provisional 2 year one, in AZ you have to pass a test on the Arizona state and U.S. constitutions to get off provisional, which I plan on doing next summer when I have a goddamn moment to breathe). Gonna teach four weeks of summer school starting Tuesday; got a job lined up teaching seventh grade in the Fall; gonna keep collaborating on curriculum/plans w/my superstar mentor teacher; feel nervous/confident/stoked.

My boyfriend makes fun of me when I drink OJ bcz I always chug it like I haven't had water for days. I do this every time I drink OJ regardless of how thirsty I am; I am simply unable to sip it like a normal beverage. Also he doesn't let me drink his OJ as often anymore.

Hey Abbott - do you know about Mormon mommy bloggers? I read a lot of blogs and over the past couple months have sort of come to realize that at least a large handful of them are young Mormon moms. A friend and I were talking about a couple of these bloggers the other day (she reads them too though I didn't know that until just recently) and I was like, "Hey Kate, why are they all Mormon?". She hadn't actually realized they were and so I started to get curious. I also remembered you comment about the number of LDS ladies on Pinterest.

E – Yeah, my sister and sister-in-law (and many other in-laws) all have family blogs where they post about a million photos of all their wholesome activities, interrupted by the occasional reminder that they're still so grateful for all their many blessings. Password-protected to keep the internet pedophiles and creepers away from photos of them seeing Temple Square light up at Christmas.

I never really read those blogs (except for family ones) but I know people enjoy reading and curating them. They seem like a nice way to make sure you always have photos of family events and able to see what everyone's up to. That's why I like looking at my relatives' ones. I think it was a a link through the Salon piece you sent where one Mormon lady talked about how their aspirational/voyeuristic quality made her covet, which is a sin. It really struck a chord of memory of what it felt like to be Mormon, where the most seemingly innocent activities were tarnished by this worry that one of those subtle sins like pride or covetousness or whatnot was at the end if you went...too far, and how far too far was never felt very clear.

I landed a job here in the fall teaching middle school so I'm going to be in Tucson for years on end, probably. I will 100% for sure be here in October and I would *love* to see you and your friend! There's a fuckton of construction downtown and I think it'll be cleared up by then.

Had a dream last night that you were on the same cross country train as me (your destination was St. Louis) but I ended up with your luggage in NYC. Looked inside and there was a prescription medication of some kind in there. I was all, oh no! and the usual dream world rigamarole ensued of being unable to find someone's number/dial a phone successfully. Finally got a call through and said, "hi is Abbbottt there?"

I'm impressed by how conscientious you are in your dreams (and IRL too I'm sure)! I think every ILXor I've talked to on the phone has greeted me like that.

Down there, yes! I will very much be here. The first week of October is vacay from work so I would love to end it with some Erica (and friend) time. So so stoked!

Awesome! I should know in the next couple days if we'll definitely be able to drive down but I think it's likely. You will like my friend Kate, btw. She's prettty much the nicest kindest person I've ever known and she's also an AZ public school teacher! :D
