maybe if there was a certain confluence of events. like a grunge thread and a funk metal thread and weezers green album was reissued. plus like maybe a thread about hillbillies in the suburbs. maybe then someone would think to themselves "hey! beaches should be here for this..." I don't fuckin know.
but really, i know a couple times when I've been the first person to notice someone missing and it had been months since they posted and they were much more active posters than me.
― frogsclovetofu (beachville), Monday, 30 April 2012 10:55 (fourteen years ago)
I usually just think that maybe the person has another screen name I don't know about or only posts on borads I don't frequent
― StanM, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:04 (fourteen years ago)
I don't know. I guess I'm mates with a bunch of you on FB so someone'd probably hear about my demise through that.

― Three Word Username, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:33 (fourteen years ago)
I've had a fever and a sore throat for days and none of you noticed, so there.
― StanM, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:36 (fourteen years ago)
oh ya, facebook, that'd prob help alright
― diafiyhm (darraghmac), Monday, 30 April 2012 11:43 (fourteen years ago)
No, because I dont socialise with any ilxors. Plus when i stopped posting last year for 4 months no one noticed.
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 30 April 2012 11:50 (fourteen years ago)
AG, iirc your extended hiatus & the reasons for it were well-known among AIM CHATZ regulars at the time.
― fishermen are coveted by whores & stoners (Pillbox), Monday, 30 April 2012 11:58 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, I noticed when you weren't here AG.
― frogsclovetofu (beachville), Monday, 30 April 2012 12:07 (fourteen years ago)
I think ILX would notice, but everybody would be over it and getting on with their lives within a couple of days.
― improvised explosive advice (WmC), Monday, 30 April 2012 12:23 (fourteen years ago)
Mordy's point was would people try to find out where you were. And i say no, no one would.I don't know if WmC's post is about me or him, but it works either way I guess
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 30 April 2012 12:26 (fourteen years ago)
there's plenty of people on ILG of whom I would notice if gone. I think they would only notice me though if a new GTA game was released and I didn't post to it.
― PSOD (Ste), Monday, 30 April 2012 12:28 (fourteen years ago)
'about' it.
AND MAYBE NOT EVEN THEN.
― PSOD (Ste), Monday, 30 April 2012 12:30 (fourteen years ago)
what is no new GTA games came out?
― Algerian Goalkeeper, Monday, 30 April 2012 12:32 (fourteen years ago)

Caught by a thread: An ILXor's story
― two overweight dachshunds with three eyes (La Lechera), Monday, 30 April 2012 12:45 (fourteen years ago)
Having seen the way ILX and other Internet forums have handled deaths, I don't think I'd want anyone to tell tell ILX when I die. Like I don't know what would be worse, the 1 or 2 arseholes who would be unable to resist getting in one last dig, or the fake sympathy from ppl I know didn't like me, but wanted to ~appear~ like they were sympathetic. It would just be a field day for the people who never bothered talking to me, but just loved to to talk ~about~ me. What would it matter, I suppose, I won't be here to care. But I'd hate for some unsuspecting member of my family or friend to have to deal with the shit this place can come up with in its darker moments.
No, I wouldn't actually want anyone to tell ILX. If ppl are close enough to me to want to know they'd find out some other way.
Guess this is a reminder to make a digital will. Or the ordinary kind.
Morbid post yeah, but morbid thread, y'know? Time to get off here and go think about something lighter.
― They have fangs, They have teeth! (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:13 (fourteen years ago)
And the ppl who roll their eyes and go "OMG the ~drama~!!!" at that post, you are precisely the people I would want my family to avoid.
― They have fangs, They have teeth! (White Chocolate Cheesecake), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:15 (fourteen years ago)
To be fair I'm not going to know one way or another how/if ILx responded when I die, but there are family and friends, some overlapping with ILx and some not, who would need to know first (and I expect WILL know first). Otherwise, whatever happens will happen as far as I'm concerned.
This of course depends on ILx still existing when I die, but that's another matter altogether.
― Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Monday, 30 April 2012 13:22 (fourteen years ago)
I've never heard of anyone "having a dig" during the (thankfully) few Ilxor RIP threads...

!
― ┗|∵|┓ (sic), Monday, 30 April 2012 14:10 (fourteen years ago)
Yes, ILX would notice if I died, because I hang out in IRL with about a dozen of you and am married to one. I'm sure my tragic death would come up in casual internet conversation. Probably the look at this fucking cat thread.
― Jeff, Monday, 30 April 2012 14:13 (fourteen years ago)
I wish I had died before I read this awful article. wah wah wah technology is making us lonely.
― Jeff, Monday, 30 April 2012 14:14 (fourteen years ago)
the answer is no, this is actually ILX's second frogbs
― you can expect punches, kicks and even worse (frogbs), Monday, 30 April 2012 14:16 (fourteen years ago)
When anyone disappears from ILX I just assume they got their life in order, not that they died.
― ┗|∵|┓ (sic), Monday, 30 April 2012 14:18 (fourteen years ago)
i try to get a dig in, just in case tho
― diafiyhm (darraghmac), Monday, 30 April 2012 14:25 (fourteen years ago)
I doubt it, just because if I died I can't see anyone thinking that ILX would need to be notified.
― Respectfully, Tyrese Gibson (Nicole), Monday, 30 April 2012 14:29 (fourteen years ago)
hardly anyone notices me posting, no reason to think they'd notice me not posting
― we are not bemused (onimo), Monday, 30 April 2012 16:34 (fourteen years ago)
Hives are notably indifferent to the fates of single bees. I've not sought out or encouraged irl ties to other ilxors, so I don't deserve any special consideration in this respect.
― Aimless, Monday, 30 April 2012 16:40 (fourteen years ago)
you're both nuts tbh
― diafiyhm (darraghmac), Monday, 30 April 2012 17:21 (fourteen years ago)
so has anyone heard from ilx poster I DIED recently?

Saw him eating brains the other day.
― NSFW Australia (seandalai), Monday, 30 April 2012 17:27 (fourteen years ago)
i think the answer to this is just simply whether you're facebook or twitter friends with anyone from ilx -- even if nobody noticed you'd stopped posting and none of your loved ones knew about ilx enough to come and post something, odds are someone would notice a facebook wall or whatever full of RIP messages
― some dude, Monday, 30 April 2012 17:33 (fourteen years ago)
no facebook here, ergo no rip wall to look at
― Aimless, Monday, 30 April 2012 17:40 (fourteen years ago)
tbh, it would require an ilxor to: 1] notice my absence (the easy part) 2] dig down through the detritus of a decade to find the few threads where my irl name was linked (the thorniest task) 3] use that name to discover what happened to me (a total crap shoot)
― Aimless, Monday, 30 April 2012 17:49 (fourteen years ago)
The three or four ILXors I knew personally are long gone from these parts, afaik.
― O Aquaman (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 30 April 2012 17:52 (fourteen years ago)
since an ilxor lives like a 20-second walk away from me i'm guessing the answer is probably yes
― (The Other) J.D. (J.D.), Monday, 30 April 2012 21:11 (fourteen years ago)
When Facebook started to be a thing, a whole bunch upped and left the same month (week, even)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.
― System, Tuesday, 1 May 2012 00:01 (fourteen years ago)
sic, what was with the exclamation, didn't get that.
On another note I thought the point of the threads premise was if something HAPPENED TO YOU would ILX notice. Not "I havent posted in 3 months and NO ONE NOTICEED WAHHH:", but "this person like, actually died/is in intensive care, people do know about this of course, but would or has anyone passed the news to ILX for people who might like to know also?"
