If Something Happened to You, Do You Think ILX Would Notice?

maybe if there was a certain confluence of events. like a grunge thread and a funk metal thread and weezers green album was reissued. plus like maybe a thread about hillbillies in the suburbs. maybe then someone would think to themselves "hey! beaches should be here for this..." I don't fuckin know.

but really, i know a couple times when I've been the first person to notice someone missing and it had been months since they posted and they were much more active posters than me.

I usually just think that maybe the person has another screen name I don't know about or only posts on borads I don't frequent

Having seen the way ILX and other Internet forums have handled deaths, I don't think I'd want anyone to tell tell ILX when I die. Like I don't know what would be worse, the 1 or 2 arseholes who would be unable to resist getting in one last dig, or the fake sympathy from ppl I know didn't like me, but wanted to ~appear~ like they were sympathetic. It would just be a field day for the people who never bothered talking to me, but just loved to to talk ~about~ me. What would it matter, I suppose, I won't be here to care. But I'd hate for some unsuspecting member of my family or friend to have to deal with the shit this place can come up with in its darker moments.

No, I wouldn't actually want anyone to tell ILX. If ppl are close enough to me to want to know they'd find out some other way.

To be fair I'm not going to know one way or another how/if ILx responded when I die, but there are family and friends, some overlapping with ILx and some not, who would need to know first (and I expect WILL know first). Otherwise, whatever happens will happen as far as I'm concerned.

This of course depends on ILx still existing when I die, but that's another matter altogether.

Yes, ILX would notice if I died, because I hang out in IRL with about a dozen of you and am married to one. I'm sure my tragic death would come up in casual internet conversation. Probably the look at this fucking cat thread.

i think the answer to this is just simply whether you're facebook or twitter friends with anyone from ilx -- even if nobody noticed you'd stopped posting and none of your loved ones knew about ilx enough to come and post something, odds are someone would notice a facebook wall or whatever full of RIP messages

no facebook here, ergo no rip wall to look at

tbh, it would require an ilxor to:
1] notice my absence (the easy part)
2] dig down through the detritus of a decade to find the few threads where my irl name was linked (the thorniest task)
3] use that name to discover what happened to me (a total crap shoot)

The three or four ILXors I knew personally are long gone from these parts, afaik.

On another note I thought the point of the threads premise was if something HAPPENED TO YOU would ILX notice. Not "I havent posted in 3 months and NO ONE NOTICEED WAHHH:", but "this person like, actually died/is in intensive care, people do know about this of course, but would or has anyone passed the news to ILX for people who might like to know also?"
