Yeah, no issues with an evaluation.

GoT SPOILER ALERT (Gukbe), Thursday, 26 April 2012 01:35 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, very good episode, i will just say that what this show does well it does very well here, and that what it has had some trouble doing it has some trouble doing again in this episode but luckily that part is not nearly as much the focus as what it does well. also: tour de force chris pratt performance.

balls, Thursday, 26 April 2012 01:47 (fourteen years ago)

the early snippets of him felt like disconnected Pratt adlibs that had made the crew laugh so they got spliced in, despite not really supporting the scene. but his ...extended performances later in the ep were certainly worthy of their audience's reaction.

those were SO good

Nhex, Friday, 27 April 2012 04:15 (fourteen years ago)

rudd killed it but god the whole aziz/rashida thing is so garbage

✧✧✧✧✧✧@are.forever (some dude), Friday, 27 April 2012 04:18 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, i can't imagine anyone out there watching is really rooting for those two to make it happen, feels like something a show would do in it's ninth season when they just start pairing ppl up to see what happens. when this show makes fun of politics, or govt, or esp the media or ESP the citizenry let's say it's really fantastic. the workplace humor stuff is also strong. but the aziz/rashida stuff makes the ed helms/ellie kemper stuff on the office look like sam malone and diane chambers.

balls, Friday, 27 April 2012 04:28 (fourteen years ago)

yeah, they're not even trying that hard with it. it sadly reeks of "well, we have no storylines for these two, so..." but i'd rather see them in a crappy storyline than not at all, i suppose

Nhex, Friday, 27 April 2012 04:40 (fourteen years ago)

I like the Ann/Tom pesudo-pairing for how deliciously wrong it is.

Simon H., Friday, 27 April 2012 04:46 (fourteen years ago)

The Parks & Rec writers know how stupid the Ann/Tom relationship is, judging by their comments at the most recent PaleyFest (yes I am a nerd). They seem to mainly want to mine good character moments before the whole thing is over (OMG TOM HAS THE BEST GIRLFRIEND APT!)

tour de force chris pratt performance

Andy would prob say tour de France. Chris Pratt has been MVP of this season.

all the other twinks with their fucked up dicks (billy), Friday, 27 April 2012 05:46 (fourteen years ago)

Sepinwall says (I'm told that about 50% of the "Roadhouse" bit was improvised, and 100% of the other movies were.)

I like Rashida Jones, so it's disappointing that they can't seem to come up with many stories for Ann aside from getting her together with different guys on the show.

If this show turned into a half hour of Chris Pratt/Andy Dwyer acting out the plot of different movies, I wouldn't complain.

i think that's what they're going for but it isn't really very delicious.

rashida/rob lowe was an actually entertaining pairing, although it'd be kinda lame if they just sent her back to him like clockwork.

✧✧✧✧✧✧@are.forever (some dude), Friday, 27 April 2012 12:56 (fourteen years ago)

I thought this was... okay

The emotional bits worked really well (including Ann negging Chris and Tom) but I wanted Andy's "tour de force" to be more than just acting out movies. I like that character more when he's interjecting or bouncing off of others, I guess.

I will say that Rob Lowe is killing it this season, though.

I love how fantastic of a physical actor Pratt is. Like the gag of him kicking over the TV was so obvious, but it was still p hilarious.

heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 27 April 2012 13:57 (fourteen years ago)

yeah i wasn't gonna say anything but i idg the bfd about chris pratt in this episode. enthusiastically summarizing movies seems a little stale as a gag, and the execution didn't really do much for me.

✧✧✧✧✧✧@are.forever (some dude), Friday, 27 April 2012 13:57 (fourteen years ago)

the TV kick and his attempt to schmooze donors with April were way funnier than the movie summaries IMO; actually I thought Donna's enraptured response to them was funnier than the summaries.

"Politics!" I love when Andy & April try to blend.

Andy's retelling of the fourth Rambo film was about as spot-on a critique as I've read about it.

GoT SPOILER ALERT (Gukbe), Friday, 27 April 2012 20:23 (fourteen years ago)

i haven't seen it yet, but there's a director's cut of last night's episode with 6 additional minutes. so much bonus comedy between this and the two versions of 30 rock!

supreme sundae (reddening), Friday, 27 April 2012 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

The extended version doesn't add much, sadly, it's just more time lolling with your favorite people on TV

Grimy Little Pimp (Jimmy The Mod Awaits The Return Of His Beloved), Friday, 27 April 2012 23:52 (fourteen years ago)

Wichita Lineman was gorgeous.

I am glad you said so, because I was feeling a little silly at how hard I laughed at that.

I was convinced that the discovery at the end would be that it was April aiming for Jerry. That woulda been funny too.

So next season we get Andy the cop! And Ben leaves the show so Adam can be a movie star?

It just made me think of his job interview walk-through, which is probably my lol highlight of the season.
