HBO adaptation of Game of Thrones - will this be just for nerds? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE)

This was the last ep sent to critics (at least in the initial review package), which is the same as last year,

Critics got six eps last year! I expect that semi-major characters will start to bite it starting next episode (I haven't read the books; I'm just guessing) and they want to hold onto that as long as they can...

So... being careful not to spoil... in the books, Arya becomes Roose Bolton's cup-bearer at Harrenhal, not Tywin's, correct? This is a BIG change from the book and I'm not sure where they'll head with it...

according to the poster that is from the press kit and is a preview of the Blu-Ray feature. kind of thought HBOGo would mean I wouldn't have to bother buying the set but damn, if that's the kind of extras they've got.

okay, i'm starting in w season 2 tonight, after saving up episodes for a while. thought i might be lost & playing catch-up for a while, cuz i remembered almost nothing about what'd been going on, but no, it's all come back. very enjoyable, too. do find myself bothered by the same thing that bugged me most last season: everyone on this show is complete idiot. no one behaves with even a trace amount of political sense or tact. funniest thing is that those who seem as though they're supposed to be the most wily (petyr baelish, for instance) are the most catastrophically stupid in this regard. "knowledge is power" my ass.

but that's the very magic of the show!

im not enjoying this season as much, i think maybe because the watching all in one sitting is especially good for game of thrones idk

for sure. i mean, i read the first three books in a couple of weeks. thinking hard was at a minimum. highly satisfying.

yet i still feel the anguish of waiting a week for each new ep

i have been reading the spoilers thread i must admit

frankly i prob wouldve just read the wikipedia summaries of all the books by now except that theyre not even finished so whats the point

have tried real hard to avoid all spoilers. so far, i've managed to protect my virtue* from the taint of undesired knowledge. did read one thing abt tyrion that i hope doesn't happen, but i gather it lies beyond this season.

I am reading the books now b/c I keep spoiling myself through, like, googling fairly innocuous questions about background stuff re: religion or history of westeros. books are v entertaining thus far and I usually hate this shit.

3 episodes in. tyrion at least can lay claim to some sense.

I opened the spoiler thread thinking it would be fine as I've read up to book 4, but there's a real arse of a spoiler for something that presumably happens in book 5 right in the first post.
