I actually like pt 5 more, but Crispin Glover's nerd dance is the bomb

this poll should be put on hold until 1408 is removed from the nominations list

― God, Music and Romeo and Juliet (DJP), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 21:12 (fourteen years ago)
I don't think To The Devil...A Daughter is on the list. It's excellent.
Also, House Of Whipcord.

Late nomination for At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul.

When I was a lass, I almost exclusively read (mostly) terrible horror paperbacks (and Circus magazine) and I think I've read The Beast Within at least three times. Then the movie hit heavy rotation on cable and I watched it pretty much every time it came on. I don't think I can handle a rewatch so I probably won't vote for it, but seeing it nominated is making me nostalgic for my 'tween years.

when I was a lad... same thing
I mean I read the novelization of THE BOOGENS

And we've crossed the 700-film mark.

If it helps, I'll probably hold open nominations over the weekend and post the official "ballots in" thread on Monday.
paring down to a manageable number is easy when there is CANON RESPECT

Genre Respect > Canon Respect
― get me bloodied (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)
(Which is not to say my ballot won't probably strike many here as cripplingly conservative.)
― get me bloodied (Eric H.), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 17:35 (fourteen years ago)
Beast Within is worth it for the looonggg miserable transformation scene at the end.
Can we pls have the awful/fascinating Frankenheimer Dr. Moreau in here? I might throw it a vote just because I think about certain scenes so often.
Also, late nom:
Burn, Witch, Burn
― tales from endoscopic oceans (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 17:37 (fourteen years ago)
That one was nominated early. Love that movie!
― Polly biscuit face (carl agatha), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 17:54 (fourteen years ago)
There is supposed to be some other movie which is also based on Lieber's Conjure Wife-- do you know what it is?
― tales from endoscopic oceans (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 17:58 (fourteen years ago)
Two more Italian films that would definitely make my longlist:
The Black Belly Of The TarantulaAutopsy / Sunspots (1975)

Hills Have Eyes, The (2006)My Little EyeBurrowers, TheCremaster 3 (i am willing to debate this one but i feel pretty strongly that it fits)
― sfdgafhtehw (jjjusten), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:23 (fourteen years ago)
lol @ cremaster 3. i'll probably vote for it though.

Yeah Burrowers!
What about his faux-documentary about the snuff guy?
― tales from endoscopic oceans (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:29 (fourteen years ago)
was that S&Man? i wasnt super crazy about it which is why i didnt nom it
― sfdgafhtehw (jjjusten), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)
Yyyeahhh i guess you're right. Like I'm rly glad I watched it but I wouldn't vote it in a top 50.
― tales from endoscopic oceans (Jon Lewis), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:33 (fourteen years ago)
Slurpees and Star Trek for eeryie
No but Wikipedia says Weird Woman (1944) and Witches' Brew (Which Witch is Which?) (1980).

Well that is a weird little post box artifact at the beginning of my last post.

wondered abt that
― preternatural concepts concerning variances in sound and texture (contenderizer), Wednesday, 11 April 2012 19:53 (fourteen years ago)
i've been really busy this past week, so forgive my dumb questions: but we're not putting together a ballot and voting for any of these films just yet? this poll/thread is just for nominations?!?

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.
― System, Thursday, 12 April 2012 00:01 (fourteen years ago)
Still never really felt Class of 1984 as a horror movie tbh. But nonetheless, it's nominated.
― get me bloodied (Eric H.), Thursday, 12 April 2012 17:25 (fourteen years ago)
agree it's a borderline case, I guess the gory stalk-and-kill conclusion tilted me in that direction. it's a weird movie, a melange of sci-fi, rape/revenge, and punxploitation.
― diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 12 April 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)
*dystopian sci-fi*
Yeah, I just wish I liked it better. Tim Van Patton is too cute to be threatening.
― get me bloodied (Eric H.), Thursday, 12 April 2012 17:57 (fourteen years ago)
I'd give Geir the benefit of the doubt that it's just a dig at Yoko's non-melodic tendency rather than a dig at her race. Wack opinion nevertheless.
― fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Thursday, 12 April 2012 18:23 (fourteen years ago)
Haha, wrong thread. Though Geir on ilx is often a psychodrama-style brain-melting horror.
― emil.y, Thursday, 12 April 2012 18:25 (fourteen years ago)
WTF, how did that happen! Geir on the horror movie thread is apt though.
― fun loving and xtremely tolrant (Billy Dods), Thursday, 12 April 2012 18:26 (fourteen years ago)
I am a big fan of hilarious typos and mis-posts. There should be a thread for them.

American PsychoExteFunny Games (2007)Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
― daavid, Thursday, 12 April 2012 19:18 (fourteen years ago)
still haven't seen exte, really ought to rectify. i've nominated three other sono movies here, only one of them as much-seen as exte (probably).
― BEMORE SUPER FABBY (contenderizer), Thursday, 12 April 2012 19:59 (fourteen years ago)
fire walk with me is already on the list, and i can't imagine that many people will vote for the funny games remake over the original. genuinely shocked that american psycho hasn't been mentioned once in this thread, though. seems to be a huge semi-recent horror favorite for a lot of people.
― BEMORE SUPER FABBY (contenderizer), Thursday, 12 April 2012 20:06 (fourteen years ago)
American Psycho, weirdly, doesn't feel like a horror movie to me
I mean, it obviously IS when I think about it, but that's not how it scanned to me when I saw it
― an independent online phenomenon (DJP), Thursday, 12 April 2012 20:07 (fourteen years ago)
Yeah, I put it on my comedy ballot, but I doubt I'll vote for it this time 'round.
― DRANGUS (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 12 April 2012 20:27 (fourteen years ago)
American Psycho isn't horror. I don't feel like having a genre argument tho, so, here's my flaming bag of opinion.

I was all tense at first and then I was just worn down by the end.
― HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 12 April 2012 20:42 (fourteen years ago)
I was all "oh shit, this is bleak" at first and then the movie entirely undercut itself with blatant narrative cheating and ranting soapboxism that IMO undermined the point it was trying to make
