might actually have been the worst episode

he was naked but they blacked out his "dick whitman".

loved the dream. spooky, bewildering, suited the episode (which i thought was pretty great overall). rewatched it with my gf last night. she freaked the fuck out @ the dream sequence and i had to bite my tongue hard to keep from spoil(er)ing it.

When Don brought the Barbie back into the house-Sally's hysterical screaming.

yeah that was wack. i thought the episode was good overall (better than the first three, anyway) and i got so excited when he killed the woman then felt so cheated. this manipulative bullshit feels old hat.

you seriously didn't realise it was a dream the whole time? that said, it would have been cool if the show turned into The Fugitive

the thing I wondered about was ... do people really have service elevators in their kitchen?

not only service elevators, but service elevators behind weird semi-concealed wallpapered doors?

i'm surprised no one else mentioned dong draper (or lack thereof), have we no libidos?

I guess the shots in which it should've shown up didn't register as such to me

xp if you had a service elevator wouldn't you hide it behind a wallpaper door?

maybe he dreamt the service elevator

i figured it was a door to a back hallway in which she would find the service elevator, not a straight-up elevator door in the kitchen

but yeah, dream sequence, who knows

I think I would've been annoyed at the fever dream if it didn't align so well, thematically, with the rest of the episode.

that was one of the more annoying things about it

i feel like a horrible human being while awake all the time.

i didn't like the dream sequence - it made me feel queasy so i guess it was effective, and i can see how it fit the episode's essential themes, but i found it unconvincing and i totally rolled my eyes. excellent episode otherwise, though. weiner packs a lot of stuff into 50 minutes.

Totally hackneyed and obvious, also poorly written

I'm not completely convinced by the dream sequence, but loved the rest of the episode. Everyone might have been a bit too clever, but there were enough interesting bits. Sally and Henry's mom interacting was great.

dream sequence was telegraphed from the moment he collapsed on the bed and by the time he was strangling the woman it's moving into insulting that they are asking me to suspend disbelief that this is "actually happening"

Maybe the only part that was a dream was where he thought he killed her.

I mean, it did seem to last pretty long, cutting back to other plot points, etc.

Yeah, I initially thought it couldn't have been a dream b/c it wasn't a stand-alone scene.

i think with that info, the only reading that makes sense to me is that either he fever dreamed the whole thing or everything after he pushed her out the back door and i'm inclined to think the former
lines like "they think she made all this but I know it was you" are VERY draper-y ni their subtext; also the suggestion that this chick is so desperate for don dick that she finds his new home the day after she finds out he's married is kinda hella unlikely?

not even the day after! it's like five hours later!

that is why I thought it was a dream when she showed up there
