i quite like fulham's chances to beat chelsea today.
harry said he needed five more victories to wrap up fourth. he has five games left.

mizzell, Monday, 9 April 2012 16:16 (fourteen years ago)

This is just about the grimmest fixture possible

to think I was saying this in advance of Stoke-Wolves on Saturday; little did I realise what was coming up next

The term “hipster racism” from Carmen Van Kerckhove at Racialicious (nakhchivan), Monday, 9 April 2012 16:29 (fourteen years ago)

Chelsea have it in them to shift up a gear if they want, I think Newcastle are basically operating at their peak now and, good as they are, I doubt they'll come through games against Chelsea, City and Everton away with nine points.

*Really* need Arsenal to beat Chelsea now.

Potential for future lols:

Nasri said on Twitter: “I'm aware what I said about titles. I'm sure I will lift a trophy with Man City before AFC [win anything]

“And [to] all the Arsenal fans, move on. [City are] 10points ahead of you. Just support your team and forget about me.”

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 April 2012 18:05 (fourteen years ago)

has potential to be one of the best lols in the country by 2014

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 18:07 (fourteen years ago)

oh shit, I can watch fulham v chelsea since it's not on at 7 in the g-d morning this time

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 9 April 2012 18:12 (fourteen years ago)

wow, didn't realize dempsey was 5th overall in goals

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 9 April 2012 18:57 (fourteen years ago)

I had no idea. That is impressive.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 19:05 (fourteen years ago)

add one more!

Silky Slim (dan m), Monday, 9 April 2012 20:40 (fourteen years ago)

Beautiful header.

h8 lamps, <3 deuce

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 20:41 (fourteen years ago)

I hope they let Dempsey keep that, but Cahill's butt push was incredibly well timed.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 9 April 2012 20:46 (fourteen years ago)

I'll take that. Good performances from Frei and Dembele (who I thought was rubbish on sat. despite the result).

kid steel (cajunsunday), Monday, 9 April 2012 20:53 (fourteen years ago)

Dempsey is having an incredible season.

The prospect of it being Martin Jol who denies Spurs a CL place on the last day of the season is now ver y real. But I'll take that Chelsea result.

Homosexual Satan Wasp (Matt DC), Monday, 9 April 2012 21:07 (fourteen years ago)

It's nice to have at least one race where teams can drop points and keep you guessing

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 21:25 (fourteen years ago)

we could wish for a virus to decimate the man utd first team, but even then we know that some 16-year-old striker would inexplicably do a sterling job filling in at centre back.

Boo-Yaa Too Rough International Boo-Yaa Empire (Merdeyeux), Monday, 9 April 2012 21:30 (fourteen years ago)

It's true. They have broken football, like Barcelona only not in a good way.

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 21:34 (fourteen years ago)

Let it go, IK, you're one of us now

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 9 April 2012 21:40 (fourteen years ago)

yow at ben arfa's goal, even if it was 80% surprising people by just running fast in a straight line.

Boo-Yaa Too Rough International Boo-Yaa Empire (Merdeyeux), Monday, 9 April 2012 21:50 (fourteen years ago)

Brilliant from Ben Arthur.

To answer my own question from earlier, form table since mid-Feb has Liverpool second-bottom (P7 Pts 4) and Spurs third-bottom (P8 Pts 6).

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Monday, 9 April 2012 21:50 (fourteen years ago)

A game in hand, eh?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 21:51 (fourteen years ago)

I could see us getting within a point of them.

Ben Arfa stepping up at this stage of the season is a big surprise; I thought he was supposed to a bottler?

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 21:56 (fourteen years ago)

supposed to be a bottler

Ismael Klata, Monday, 9 April 2012 21:57 (fourteen years ago)

The touch before the finish was really nice. Spurs and Chelsea finishing behind Arsenal and Newcastle (looks quite possible if Chelsea are as fatigued as they're suggesting) really would make my season.

Looks like I'm back to lolling at and feeling sorry for Spurs again. Loathing didn't last long.

Upt0eleven, Monday, 9 April 2012 22:33 (fourteen years ago)

Chelsea still have to play Barca twice. Losing 14-0 on agg won't be good for morale.

Thoughts? You must have loads. (a hoy hoy), Monday, 9 April 2012 22:54 (fourteen years ago)

yeah their schedule is a doozy, it's practically 3 games a week

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Monday, 9 April 2012 22:58 (fourteen years ago)

Newcastle still have Man City (H), Everton, Chelsea (both A) in their final 3 games. I don't think they'll finish top 4. Chelsea having Arsenal (A) in between their Barca fixtures is good for Spurs. Spurs' run-in is not horrendous if they recover a bit of form.

I keep getting the terrors whenever I sense 10 minutes into a match that Ledley's having a forgotten-how-to-defend game again. Gallas-Kaboul protected by Sandro & Parker if possible, asap, please God.

Cragenham Craig (Craigo Boingo), Monday, 9 April 2012 22:59 (fourteen years ago)

wouldn't trust Sandro to protect a damn thing going on his performance v Sunderland

I was at WHL today - it was my mate's birthday and he somehow blagged a box - so while I enjoyed free cheesecake and Peroni that was about it. way too much trying to walk it in or just plain not wanting to shoot, way too many high balls towards Defoe where his challenger(s) were five or six inches taller than him, Saha and Adebayor p much didn't turn up

Norwich are not an impressive or threatening side at all in the main and were happy to just hoof it upfield to, effectively, gain yards a lot of the time - they play to their strengths and with organisation and thus deserved to win against a side which did neither of those things

W. E. B. Du Bois Goals Panel (DJ Mencap), Monday, 9 April 2012 23:19 (fourteen years ago)

not that impressed with the ben arfa goal myself. nice finish but the defending was laughable, ran half the length of the pitch unchallenged. goal of the season my arse.

Chris, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 00:09 (fourteen years ago)

ok, not completely unchallenged, but still. i mean he's no charlie adam for goodness sake.

Chris, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 00:18 (fourteen years ago)

Jonathan Wilson on Gerrard contains this gem:

the injury to Lucas Leiva who, remarkably, has still made more tackles than anybody else in the Liverpool squad this season despite having been injured since November

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 14:12 (fourteen years ago)

obviously not counting fouls cf adam

j'en ai cache (darraghmac), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 14:20 (fourteen years ago)

Fouls committed per match: Holt 2.5, Fellaini / Tiote 2.4, Song 2.2, Tim Cahill / Adam 2.1, Cattermole / Ngog 2.0, Balotelli 1.9, Kevin Davies 1.8

boxall, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 14:26 (fourteen years ago)

yet he hasn't fuckin time to update the ffl

j'en ai cache (darraghmac), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 14:32 (fourteen years ago)

Ha yeah that takes some actual calculation, this site does all the stats for you.

boxall, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 14:33 (fourteen years ago)

that was...quite good

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:14 (fourteen years ago)

they should play this Maxi guy more

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:16 (fourteen years ago)

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:25 (fourteen years ago)

this is hilarious stuff. Yakubu with one of the worst penalties you'll ever see

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:27 (fourteen years ago)

Wilson's Gerrard theory looking solider by the second

red is hungry green is jawless (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:27 (fourteen years ago)

Flanagan (he should be off as well btw) manages to play even more gormlessly than he looks

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:30 (fourteen years ago)

Eh what? I couldn't imagine this'd be worth watching, serves me right.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

this is hilarious stuff. Yakubu with one of the worst penalties you'll ever see

Graham Taylor (on five live) said Yakubu might as well have just picked up the ball and given it to the keeper

Let's Talk About Socks (Nasty, Brutish & Short), Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:32 (fourteen years ago)

oh yes, this has potential

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:36 (fourteen years ago)

I mean Kenny could resign tonight

Number None, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

Doni's out of the semi too now. We're one professional foul away from putting Enrique in goal at Wembley.

Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:41 (fourteen years ago)

What a half. How silly of me to think that at 2-0 we'd actually manage to see the game out without a fuss. Maxi though, what a guy.

Chris, Tuesday, 10 April 2012 19:51 (fourteen years ago)

Brad Friedel has a pleasant hybrid accent
