red is hungry green is jawless (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 8 April 2012 23:42 (fourteen years ago)

well done bubba, seems a good guy.

I'm going to allow this! (LocalGarda), Monday, 9 April 2012 01:12 (fourteen years ago)

Westwood having 21 putts more than Phil thru 3 rounds and only being 4 shots behind him is amazing to me.

pandemic, Monday, 9 April 2012 12:37 (fourteen years ago)

Of all the English top 10s who aren't going to win a major ever, his is the saddest case.

xyzzzz__, Monday, 9 April 2012 19:19 (fourteen years ago)

i didn't know too much about bubba before this. apparently he doesn't employ a coach and hasn't had a golf lesson since he was 10, which makes that shot on the second playoff hole even more awesome.

three months pass...

tempted to place a bet on the open

who do we reckon as a tasty outsider?

was impressed by fowler at last year’s open, but think he may just be too young yet

am0n, the road to nowhere (cozen), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 10:43 (thirteen years ago)

yeah i won a few quid on him last year. am off sick today so will take a look at some stage.

http://www.paddypower.com/bet/golf/open-championship?ev_oc_grp_ids=34304

zach johnson won in the states last week, could be worth a shot at 66-1. so many long-priced possibles there though, the allure of betting on golf before a ball has been hit.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 10:53 (thirteen years ago)

Matt Kuchar or Peter Hansen are my outsiders. It should be noted that I never actually place hard earned money down on these things.

pandemic, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 11:14 (thirteen years ago)

How about Snedeker at 175-1. Dufner could be a good call, but he may be more of a target golf guy. Zach Johnson really hot lately, i could see those odds narrow as more money put on him closer to tomorrow.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 13:34 (thirteen years ago)

One thing I know is i will never bet on lee westwood again. he handles his putter like its a black mamba or something.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 13:35 (thirteen years ago)

I find it impossible to make predictions on the British because so much seems to depend on whether your game is suitable to the course and conditions.

clemenza, Tuesday, 17 July 2012 13:37 (thirteen years ago)

maybe woods is the right pick at this point because he is almost exclusively playing that low stinging fade which seems perfect for Open style golf. OBviously he's not a longshot.

One Way Ticket on the 1277 Express (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 17 July 2012 13:41 (thirteen years ago)

i went for:

£5 e/w on zach johnson at 66-1.

£2 win on adam scott at 40-1.

£3 e/w on rickie fowler at 33-1.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 08:26 (thirteen years ago)

adam scott going along nicely. considering there is zero wind atm the course seems to be awfully tough. tiger going along serenely tho.

pandemic, Thursday, 19 July 2012 09:57 (thirteen years ago)

Couple of lads at my work have a couple of quid each way on Paul Lawrie, seems like a decent outside bet.

ailsa, Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:21 (thirteen years ago)

yeah he's going well so far.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:24 (thirteen years ago)

i'm off sick today, and it's actually genuine, not sure anything could beat golf for sick tv.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:25 (thirteen years ago)

love the way the narrative of the open every year is "not enough wind, those americans don't know their born" with a faint edge of boredom as everyone annihilates the course v "horrible, horrible stuff, only the strong survive" as some deathly rain and wind rips everyone to pieces.

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:28 (thirteen years ago)

don't know they're born... obv

Know how Roo feel (LocalGarda), Thursday, 19 July 2012 10:28 (thirteen years ago)

£5 e/w on zach johnson at 66-1.

£2 win on adam scott at 40-1.

Not bad!
