So is Walkabout ^

Arguably walking a very slippery slope, but I kind of agree. Particularly from the POV of the kids.

1 of paper = 4 of coin (Deric W. Haircare), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

Just know that if Super 8 and Taxi Driver place above Last House on Dead End Street and Deathdream, there will be spillage.

get me bloodied (Eric H.), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:34 (fourteen years ago)

Oops, forgot I was to remain impartial as the mod.

get me bloodied (Eric H.), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:36 (fourteen years ago)

man i am obv not a good judge of this, but looking at the expansion of noms i find it nearly impossible to imagine that anyone wont be able to at least list 20 films

sfdgafhtehw (jjjusten), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:41 (fourteen years ago)

Yay for me!

clemenza, Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:44 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah, there will be a minimum on the ballots for sure. Just have to decide whether it's 10, 20, 25, more?

I have such a soft spot for gargoyles, hugely fascinating to me as a kid. it's a terrible movie no doubt, but AP otm in that the first half has some genuinely creepy moments with those gargoyle incursions into the human world. and if I have not hallucinated this, I believe bernie casey as the winged king gargoyle astride a horse is one of the most bizarre and wondrous visions beamed into american households of the 70s. def a movie for ppl whose fav part of wizard of oz were the flying monkeys.

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

haha that should be Rebecca on my noms, no need to search for an obscurity

da croupier, Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

Rubber
Hampshire
Disappearance of Alice Creed, The
Abandoned, The
Murder Loves Killers Too
Re-Cycle
Severance

sfdgafhtehw (jjjusten), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:46 (fourteen years ago)

dude you just nommed rubber

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

I'll have a few pre-'60. I don't think anything silent, though. (Possibly Caligari just for its weirdness.)

clemenza, Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:47 (fourteen years ago)

What are some all time movies that horror fans would know but would probably be obscure to a relatively mainstream audience?

I will try to watch some of these so as to give consideration to things that should place high.

HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

Is that the Dahmer movie w/Jeremy Renner? That was terrible.

Frank Youngenstein (Phil D.), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

rubber rules dudes

HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:48 (fourteen years ago)

anybody not voting nosferatu needs a bite in the neck

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:49 (fourteen years ago)

also I guess this is fair

nosferatu: phantom der nacht (1979)

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:49 (fourteen years ago)

lol okay I just went through and I've seen at least 29 of the movies on the nomination list

I wouldn't vote for them all but 20 no longer seems like an insurmountable list

God, Music and Romeo and Juliet (DJP), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:50 (fourteen years ago)

that list was the list of horror movies that i rated 10 stars on imdb within however long imdb keeps ratings (and yes that includes rubber)

sfdgafhtehw (jjjusten), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:51 (fourteen years ago)

why are the old and employed making a racket in the kids' yard?

picture jean rollin (Pillbox), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:52 (fourteen years ago)

guys, I don't see Shadow of the Vampire, so...

Shadow of the Vampire

Will horror aficionados be upset by this nom?

HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:53 (fourteen years ago)

no

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:54 (fourteen years ago)

yay!

HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

the only reason i can see being angered by a nom is if the nominator uses their vampire powers of seduction to make you vote for it

da croupier, Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:55 (fourteen years ago)

I just want you all to know that I have been resisting putting in a nomination for VAMP all day

God, Music and Romeo and Juliet (DJP), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:56 (fourteen years ago)

lol okay I just went through and I've seen at least 29 of the movies on the nomination list

got to 29 and didn't even get out of the C's aka my misspent youth

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:56 (fourteen years ago)

Dafoe is pretty hilarious in shadow

HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:57 (fourteen years ago)

vamp is a totally fair nom! it sucks, but y'know 80s new wave vampires what's not to love

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:57 (fourteen years ago)

you realize you are opening the door for a Once Bitten nomination, right

God, Music and Romeo and Juliet (DJP), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:58 (fourteen years ago)

I'm glad to see Eric H. listed Repulsion. One of the few movies that scared the living shit out of me after age 15. I do not see Psycho mentioned itt thread, yet. Does this mean I am about to start a shit-fling by mentioning it?

Aimless, Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:58 (fourteen years ago)

Is Fright Night on there yet?

Frank Youngenstein (Phil D.), Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

DJP will not rest until someone finally shakes their first at his naughty ways

da croupier, Thursday, 5 April 2012 17:59 (fourteen years ago)

Psycho is already nominated

God, Music and Romeo and Juliet (DJP), Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:00 (fourteen years ago)

lol fist, rather

da croupier, Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:00 (fourteen years ago)

somehow people shaking their oldest children in condemnation of someone else seems to be fitting imagery for a horror poll

God, Music and Romeo and Juliet (DJP), Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:01 (fourteen years ago)

House is on Hulu. Ima watch it. v excited!

HE HATES THESE CANS (Austerity Ponies), Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

haha for a second I thought you were nominating

Frank Youngenstein (Phil D.), Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

diamanda ram dass (Edward III), Thursday, 5 April 2012 18:02 (fourteen years ago)

God, Once Bitten is terrible.
