Horror = a gazillion times better a genre than comedy. And often funnier, too.

Oh. Oh, oh, oh. I started watching Cathy's Curse last night (from the same 10 for $10 box set that introduced me to the wonderful God Told Me To and Pieces) while going to sleep, and I'll have to finish it to see whether it belongs here, but what I saw was the most jaw-droppingly :O sub-Ed Wood ineptitude which was somehow so inept that it started crossing over into something surreal and unnerving even while it made me laugh. It doesn't feel like something made by human beings or anything with the capacity for conscious thought.

(Also, horror is way cleverer, has better cinematography, more plot, deeper characterisation... I could go on...)
― emil.y, Thursday, 5 April 2012 14:03 (twelve years ago) link
Oh, god, yeah, The Changeling. That movie scared the ever-living crap out of me when I was like 12 and saw it on HBO.

Glad to see that Morbs will be maintaining the complain-a-thon throughout this poll, as well.

You've admitted repeatedly that you don't enjoy being scared and don't like horror movies generally, Morbs, so I suspect the thread will give your cavils all the attention that they merit.

actually I won't DWH, since it's my least fave genre and I don't care what you guys think about anything

C'mon, Morbs, you're not fooling anybody. You may not agree with anything we think, but you care so hard what we think about everything.

Thinking of nominating the Paul Schrader "Cat People" just for the lols. Although the scene where Ed Begley gets his arm ripped off by Catcolm McDowell and bleeds to death on the floor scared the pants off me when I was 13.

It's perfectly possible to do an amazing Italian-free horror list, but I don't know why you'd purposefully want to cut off your naso to spite your faccia.

I know what you mean. I might also have to be quite strict on the distinction between horror and giallo. Maybe. Depends on quite how full to bursting my list gets. Night of the Hunter has been accepted into the horror cannon for a while, though.
